Chaol watched from the window as Asthenosthene walked towards Owl and smiled at him. He pretended to open the carriage's window and throw out the stick of cigarette, only to watch her clearly from the distance.

He was filled with so much wariness and anxiety. It wasn't that he didn't trust Owl's intuition, but he felt like leaving Asty along with somebody like him was a mistake.
