She changed her mind suddenly, "It will be much ok if Morgan should be the one to tell you himself, I think." She ended her sentence with a mischievous smile, just like the one on her son's face earlier.

My father folded his arms and leaned against the wall, "There is sometehing you have to do, Ava." He stared and I sensed it was not going to be something good he was about to say.

He paused for a moment, probably finding the right way to put his words, "You are not being very much useful around here anymore. And instead of wasting away, we have decided to find something else for you to do."

Valerie was not having the way he was dragging the point so she urged him, "Ooh, for f*ck's sake!! Would you just say it already?" She snapped at him.

"You would be going to the the Shadow Pack."

There was a confused look on my face, I did not understand what he meant by that. Am I to go get something for him from the pack or what? Axel, who had been standing by and watching everything, noticed the look on my face and spoke.

"Mum? I do not think she understands fully what he just said to her."

"Let me explain further to you." Valerie started, "Just as your father had said, your income has gotten really low these days and we were just planning on how to deal with that when luckily, the Shadow Pack reached out that they are going to be in need of your... let me say, services, probably as a maid or what else would you be good for over there?" She laughed dryly at her own sacarstic question.

I stopped listening to whatever she was saying right after she mentioned that part about the Shadow Pack. My father was still standing there with his arms folded and he neither did nor said nothing. This should be a dream, my father would surely not give me off like that and certainly not to that pack that was mentioned.

"Shadow Pack", the name alone was enough to make an adult wet his pant. That is the most ruthless and brutal pack I have ever heard of; they had no side to reason with and just as their beginning, they believe in settling scores through and only through violent means. One could say that they were all really following in the steps of their Alpha; Klein, he was nothing short of brutality itself and he does not think twice before shedding the blood of anyone he was displeased with, he was not a man to reason with. And my father was ready to send me away to that kind of people? That is just as much as sending a goat to a pack of wolves.

I looked directly in my father's direction, still waiting for him to say something but he said nothing still. The thought that he was part of this and would just do nothing pricked at my heart like finely tipped needles; it hurt so much that I could not hold back the tears that were already formed in my eyes.

My body hurt from what I have been through that night, I could feel the pain in my tummy grow stronger, it was like a fire had been set in my heart and my throat was hot and dry. No words came out of my mouth even though I badly wanted to say something to him but I could not.

"You should go to your room. The Alpha will be here tomorrow, you have to get up early to receive him; we do not want to keep him waiting." My father said as he made his way back into his office, closely followed by Valerie but she stopped and turned around to face me.

"And make sure you clean up too. You should not be looking miserable on your first meetup with him. Do not be sad though, we are only making sure you do not waste away." Her dry laugh scratched my eardrums as she shut the door behind her.

I could not standup from the floor yet and I felt Axel's hands caressing my shoulders.

"I really pity you that you have to go this way but I could put a word in with mum for you. You know she listens to me and she might find another thing for you to do instead of selling you off."

Even if he did not mention it, I knew exactly what he was asking for and it just made me wish I could relieve his arms of the filthy hands he placed on me. I brushed his hands off my shoulders, dragged myself off the floor and went to my room. He said after me.

"You can not escape me."

I sank to the floor in despair as soon as I entered my room and began sobbing hard, stremas of fresh tears running down my cheeks.

"All these would not be happening if you had not left so soon mum. Why did you have to leave?"

If my mum were to still be alive, my father would not have had to take that old hag in and we would have continued to be the happy family that we were but alas, it all happened and there I was, about to be sold to a bloodthirst Alpha.

My thoughts were not enough to stop me from falling asleep even though I could not have a good night sleep because I was still hurting all over but for the period I slept, I was away from all the troubles and it felt good to have my peace; I only get to keep it when I am asleep.

The strange sensation I was feeling all over my body woke me up the next morning and I was scared with what I saw. It was Axel running his fingers all through my body where my old clothes could not cover. I scrambled to one side in fear, trying frantically to cover my body.

"What are you doing?!!!" I shrieked at him.

He grinned, showing all his teeth, "What does it look like I am doing?"

His eyes went wide as I have never seen before; filled with lust and desperation...

I opened my eyes in fear; I had a brief dream where I saw myself falling into a dark endless void vast space after being pushed by Klein. I could see him standing over the hole I fell into, watching and grinning menacingly with satisfaction. It took me a moment before I could recollect myself. Where I was did not look familiar at all, left me wondering where it was. The last things I could remember was running onto the road, stopping in front of a car; the face of the man I had saw last before I lost consciousness again was blurry in my head. But there was a hint that I found relieving for the obvious reasons, whatever and wherever this place is, it does not look like Klein’s palace and it was a soothing thing to know that I was not back to his mansion monstrous place.I sat on the bed, fully looked around to have a better view of the room. It is a fairly large room and it looked really decent with nicely painted interior; everything was arranged neatly too.Looking at myself in the m

As I continued running, I could hear distant howls from the direction Theo had ran to and I quickly guessed that he had met with Klein alongside his men and it was either he had been caught or he was still fighting them off.The road was not that far anymore; absolute freedom was close by. My heart was beating like crazy as I got closer to the road and I could not think straight about my next line of action; all that mattered to me at that moment was not to be caught.I could somehow feel that Klein and his men were getting closer to me and if I slacked a bit, they would catch up with me in no time, giving it all my all, I dashed onto the road without thinking if there were oncoming cars or not. I almost made it to the other side when a car was speeding at me, it was so sudden that I did not know what to so, I just stood there, fixed to a point and not moving an inch. The tires screeched when the driver of the car slammed on the brakes, luckily stopping the car just a few inches from

“This is not about being the bearer of bad news. You overheard it yourself so you are in the right position to tell her.” Jane said to Emily who sighed and shook her head a few times before talking.“Ava, I do not know how to tell you this but you might be in danger.”Yeah, I was right when I though I would not be ok with whatever she has to say. I responded to her words with a confused and baffled look to ask what she was talking about.“Ughhh. You really suck at telling people things, Emily.” Jane cut in out of frustration that Emily was dragging things out, she turned to me, “She overheard it yesterday when Klein and Gilmore were discussing about selling you off to another Alpha.”I scoffed, “No. You guys are joking, right?”The serious look they maintained on their faces contradicted the laughter I had expected them to burst into after I asked the question and I know they were serious.“Ooh, you are serious. But Klein can not do that.”“And why can he not do that? He bought you, r

At Klein’s Palace.“Get prepared. Tomorrow morning, you are going out with me.” He said as soon as I entered his room. Not another outing with him again! The first time I had followed him to anywhere was not a good experience and I was sure the second time too would be of no difference. When night fell, he allowed me stayed in my room for the night, maybe to give me enough time to prepare for whatever event was going to happen the next day.I had woken up very early the next morning so I could dress up and get ready before he would come asking for me; I was avoiding to do anything that could piss him off.My door busted open and Theo walked in hurried, with serious concerned look on his face; he shut the door behind him.“Why did you have to come in like that! You could have knocked.” I shrieked, “Thank God I already have my clothes on.”He did not even take a minute to think about what I had said before he started talking, “That is not important right now.”“Yes it is not. I think wh

Out on the streets, Morgan was now so much unrecognizable and one could perceive the stench oozing from his unwashed body from afar. He still refused to return to his palace even after ha has been thrown out of the stalls he sleeps in many time by the owners who had found him sleeping there in the morning. The thought and memories of how much he has fallen from grace to grass broke him so hard that he did not know what else to do with his life, except drinking and drinking himself to stupor. No matter how bad he feels about how his once happy and perfect life turned out to be ruined, the fact still remains that he brought it upon himself.Morgan was a very good Alpha and he was so much loved by his people. At Morgan’s Place.“Mother. How long do we have to wait before the old man comes back so we can carry out our plan.” Axel said to his mother impatiently.Valerie replied him, “But there is nothing we can do if he is not back.”“Can we not just talk to the elders since he is nowhere to be found? He might have drank himself to death wherever he is and we will just keep wasting time thinking he will be back.”“If he was dead, the elders would have felt it since they are linked to his wolf but there has bern no news about. He will be back and when he is, we will not wait any longer to get him out of the way.”Axel was mot convinced at all by what his mother was saying; since the very moment his mother had mentioned it to him, he has been so restless and looking forward to taking the throne as soon as possible.“But…” He was going to raise another point to counter what his mother had said but she had had enough of his nagging and stopped him.“There is no but and you will not mention this
