Since childhood, Astin Kier Hernandez has loved Laura Miller. But it was a one-sided love. Laura never had feelings for him. Still, he didn’t give up; he guarded her closely all through college. Out of gratitude to his family, Laura agreed when he proposed in front of their parents. He knew she wouldn’t refuse because of gratitude to their family. He thought he was the happiest man that day. He was wrong. Laura admitted she already had a boyfriend, Gael. But Astin didn’t allow the wedding plans to be canceled. Learning this, he rushed to set the wedding date. On their wedding day, Laura didn’t show up, and that was his first heartbreak. One-sided love is torture. For months, he disappeared from everyone’s radar, leaving behind his comfortable life. To forget, he joined the military, spending four years in training. After that, his team was deployed abroad on their first mission, which lasted longer than expected. Eight years is a long time, so he returned to the Philippines. He and Laura crossed paths once again. But he was no longer the Astin who was hopelessly in love with her. How many women had he left heartbroken whenever he was reassigned to a different place? But how could he now avoid the woman who did nothing but apologise and try to win him over every day? And how long could she endure his cold treatment?

When was the last time he held her? Probably when she was fifteen. It was even a stolen hug. And now she was letting this guy do it willingly? He couldn’t bear the sight, so he forced himself back to his car—a Porsche Carrera S, a car that his father gifted him upon graduation. He stomp the steering wheel and punched the seat. He was roaring with anger at the moment. “Damn you, boy!” he shouted in the car, still watching. The Audi hadn’t even left yet. How long had they been sitting in there? “What the hell are they doing?” he muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He had offered to pick her up from the university since it was her birthday. He knew she was still upset with him, yet she always agreed to go with him whenever he came to get her. His family had organized a small celebration, and he’d contributed as well, hoping to surprise her. And this is what he discovered? How many men had he turned away, leaving them disheartened over her? Did this guy really think he could compete with him? Only a year ago, he’d graduated from that same university. Even though he had publicly announced their engagement, once he left, suitors had flocked to her. He still had people keeping an eye on things, but that wasn’t enough to keep her from dating. Laura was still giving him the silent treatment over his actions. Was loving him truly that difficult? Was he so unappealing? What qualities was she looking for in a man? He looked back at the car, which still hadn’t moved. He’d only been tied up at work for a while, and already someone had slipped through? Frustrated, he reached out to their driver, Mang Vincent, and instructed him to fetch Laura, offering no explanation for the sudden change. He sped off and headed to ZL Lounge, a popular bar owned by his godfather. He arrived at ZL Lounge at quarter to six in the evening and handed his car keys to a guard, who parked it for him. It was still early, and the staff couldn’t do much about his early arrival. He was free to come and go as he wished because his father still held shares in the place. “Good evening, Sir Astin,” greeted Oliver, the assistant manager. He knew that his uncle Dane—his mom’s first cousin—was the one running the bar. Astin smiled at him. Oliver took his staff place at the counter and asked what he’d like to drink since the bartender wouldn’t be on duty until seven. He opted for Jack Daniels. By seven, people had begun to arrive, and by nine, the place was bustling with noise. Having had quite a bit to drink, he moved up to the second floor to hang out there alone. He rubbed his temples, feeling the buzz hit him hard. His mom would be furious if she found out he drove while drunk, so he called the family driver to come pick him up. It was past eleven by the time he got home, stumbling slightly as he crossed their spacious yard. He glanced up at the window of Laura’s room. “Happy birthday, my Laura,” he said softly, forcing a smile as he gazed at her window. He froze when he heard a sound coming from the pool. Someone was there. He walked over with his hands in his pockets, almost in a daze. He smiled when he recognized who it was. “What a beautiful sight,” he whispered. He sat on the deck near her clothes. She hadn’t noticed him because she was swimming back and forth. It was somewhat dark in that area, so she really wouldn’t see him. It seemed she sensed someone watching, so soon she climbed out of the pool. His jaw dropped as he took in the sight of her. It felt like time stopped. He swallowed as he watched her. She walked slowly, like a model, and he couldn’t take his eyes off her. Laura looked stunning in her black one-piece swimsuit, perfectly fitting her slim frame and fair legs. The alcohol had already warmed his body, but watching her walk toward her clothes made him feel even hotter. He watched her intently as she looked his way. She frowned when she saw him. He smiled at her, but she didn’t smile back, leaving him feeling irritated. Was it because of the guy she was with? She quickly slipped on her loose shirt and layered a robe over it. Anticipating she’d pass by him, he blocked her path. As she got close, he unexpectedly pulled her against him, a surge of electricity shooting through him as their bodies met. He breathed in her fresh scent, eyes closed in the moment. Stunned by his sudden move, she tried to push him away, but he only gave her a sweet smile and had no plans of letting her go. “Astin!” she exclaimed, struggling. “What are you doing? Let me go!” “Why?” he murmured. “I just wanted to tell you something. The day’s not over, so... happy 21st birthday, my Laura,” he said and, without hesitation, captured her slightly parted lips in a kiss. Her lips were soft, and unlike the gentle pecks he’d given before, this kiss was more intense. She pushed against his chest, but he was caught up in the moment, possibly emboldened by the alcohol, wanting to express his jealousy over what he’d witnessed earlier. Didn’t she realize she belonged only with him? When she resisted, he gently bit her lower lip, and as he paused, her lips parted instinctively, letting him savor her even more. His kiss grew deeper when she stopped pushing him away. A smile played on his lips as she began to kiss him back, and they stayed that way for a few moments. Her response only fuelled his desire, but he forced himself to regain control. He gently released Laura’s lips to stop himself from wanting more. Again, a smile flashed on his lips as she opened her eyes. His heart raced when their eyes met. He really missed those beautiful eyes. Damn much! He caressed her lips that were still wet from their kiss. Astin chuckled when Laura avoided meeting his eyes. She seems shy after the passionate kiss they shared. “These lips are mine, my Laura,” he murmured in a husky voice. She frowned, pulling back slightly. “You’ve said that so many times, Astin,” she replied. “And you keep claiming me like other things that aren’t yours.” He ignored her sentiments and smiled. He draws her closer to him, and her hand lands on his chest. “Let me go, Astin! Please— stop!” she protested, struggling once more. He leaned close and whispered firmly, “It’s not just your lips I’m claiming. It’s you, because you’re mine, my Laura. Only mine.”IRA kept glancing at her boss’s office door. It was already noon, yet he hadn’t called her to make his coffee. Astin had been cold toward her for a week. He hadn’t spoken to her since their last encounter at his condo. For days, she’d been trying to remember everything. Who she really was. But it always ended with a pounding headache. She focused on her desk and started her work. She was about to get the papers she had printed when she heard the familiar voice of a child. Her heart swelled with joy. She hadn’t seen the child for days. She missed her so much. If she was truly Laura, she wanted to make it up to her. Smiling, she stood up and turned to the door. But her smile faded when she saw the child holding onto a beautiful woman. The two were talking as they walked, and Kiarra seemed happy talking to the woman. Ira’s gaze fixed on her child. Her daughter’s smile was radiant. She wanted to rush and embrace her. But tears welled up in her eyes when Kiarra kissed the wom
She halted mid-step upon seeing the inside of her boss’s condo. She clutched her chest several times, feeling as if she had already been here before. It was familiar to her. She was confused. Where had she seen this? In her dreams? Was this one of the buildings she had glimpsed before? Her gaze locked onto a large framed photo hanging on the condo’s wide wall. If she wasn’t mistaken, it was his wife. She couldn’t bring herself to blink while staring at the woman’s face. She took in every detail. Their eyes and lip shape were identical. Without thinking, she reached out and gently caressed the large portrait. She stopped at the sound of Lionel Richie’s *The Only One* playing. A strange pounding filled her chest. She turned to her boss, who was already watching her. He held a remote control. He raised the volume and slowly walked toward her. Before he could get closer, she felt a sharp pain in her head. “Ahh…” she groaned. A part of her head throbbed. She clutched her head, gripp
As soon as Ira entered her house, Astin sped off in his car. The next thing he knew, he was standing in front of Spotlight. He called Ian first. No answer. So, he called Lexxie instead, who immediately handed the phone to Ian. This was the first time in a long while that he was asking his friend for help. He hadn’t been active in Ian's agency since losing his wife, Laura. He felt embarrassed to call his Daddy Sebastian. His parents would find out about everything he was doing again. He needed certainty before telling them anything. So many things were running through his mind. He was so darn attracted to Ira. Not just to her face, but to her entire being. Her face was the only thing different from his wife’s. Ira’s natural scent was driving him crazy. His wife rarely wore perfume, so he knew her scent by heart. It was the same. He wanted to give himself hope. He wanted to be happy! Fate had been too cruel to him. He felt like he was going insane with all his thoughts! Even
HER boss kissed her lips tenderly before pulling himself out of her. They both lay on the sand, staring blankly into space. She couldn’t believe what had just happened. She had given herself to her boss, while she couldn’t even bring herself to give in to her husband. But what could she do when both her heart and body had willingly surrendered? She covered her face with her hands for a moment. When she looked at her boss, she found him gazing at her. He wasn’t even blinking, so she flicked his forehead. “You’re making me uncomfortable. Stop staring,” she muttered. “Do you really love your husband? What if I told you to leave him and come with me? Would you?” She froze at his question. “Just because this happened between us doesn’t mean I’ll leave my husband.” She shook her head. “We have a child. And what happened between us... was a mistake.” Sadness clouded his face. The moon shining down on them made his emotions even clearer. “What you just said hurts, Ira, but
Just as she had promised Kiarra. After they ate, she invited her to swim in the sea. The child was overjoyed. She helped her change into swimwear. Since she didn’t bring anything to swim in, she just wore shorts and a spaghetti top. It was nighttime anyway, so it was fine. She carried Kiarra until they reached the shore. Her boss didn’t come along, which relieved her. It was just the three of them—her, Kiarra, and the nanny. She wouldn’t feel awkward. She guided the child as she swam. They stayed in the shallow part, where the water only reached Kiarra’s waist. The little girl showed off, moving away from her using the butterfly stroke. When she returned, she used freestyle. Laura clapped for her. She never expected Kiarra to be this good. They even had a swimming race. She let the child win on purpose, which made her happy. The nanny cheered for Kiarra. Laura felt genuinely happy whenever she saw Kiarra laugh. There was something different about this child’s presence. “You'
Déjà vu! Ira glanced around her surroundings—the hotel, cabins, and the other views. Everything seemed familiar. She felt like she had been here before. She blinked several times, but she was still standing there, in the same spot. She wasn’t dreaming. Her feet felt rooted to the ground, unable to move. She clutched her head when a sharp pain suddenly struck. Grasping the car door for support, she was thankful that her boss and his daughter had gone ahead. Otherwise, she would just add to their worries. She decided she would follow once she felt better. She was starting to notice a pattern—these headaches were becoming more frequent. Perhaps it was because of her amnesia. She had yet to meet the doctor who, as her husband Thunder claimed, was his cousin. When they returned to Manila, she promised herself she would consult a specialist. For years, she had suffered, unable to remember her past. The only one who gave her glimpses of her life before was Thunder. She turned her
