Chapter Fifty Three

"Hey Princess." Dad walked into my bedroom but didn't come forward. "How are you feeling?".

He'd taken me to the hospital for a series of tests and scans to see if I'd broken a bone or cracked a rib but I was fine... physically. Mentally... Not so much.

"Okay." I croaked out. I held out my hand to him and I watched him take a deep breath before he came to me, took my hand and sat on my bed. "Thank you for saving me dad."

He pulled me into his embrace. "I'll do that and more for you anytime sweetheart." He kissed my hair. "There's nothing I wouldn't do for you."

"I love you daddy." I murmured.

"And I love you more." He said. He pulled back to cup my face and kissed my forehead. "Someone's here to see you."

"Chris?". I guessed.

"How did you know?".

I shrugged.

"I can tell him to come back tomorrow." Dad said.

"No, it's okay." I smiled. "Let him in."

"Okay." Dad said and left.
