Brenda's POV

I was curled up on the sofa with my legs crossed, barely paying attention to the television while I waited for Fiona to bring my food.

The pregnancy had made me unusually particular about what I wanted to eat, and after the disaster at breakfast, I had specifically asked for something spicy enough to satisfy my craving without making me sick.

When Fiona finally appeared from the kitchen carrying a tray, I immediately sat up.

“Finally.”

The pregnancy had made me unusually particular about what I wanted to eat, and after the disaster at breakfast, I had specifically asked for something spicy enough to satisfy my craving without making me sick. When Fiona finally appeared from the kitchen carrying a tray, I immediately sat up. “Finally.” She placed the plate on the coffee table in front of me without saying a word and turned as though she intended to leave. I picked up the spoon, scooped a little food into my mouth and immediately spat it back onto the plate. “What the hell is this?” Fiona spun around. “What did you just do that for?” I stared at her in disbelief. “I should be asking you that. Are you trying to kill me and my baby?” Her eyebrows shot upward. “I made exactly what you asked for.” “I asked for something spicy. I didn't ask you to pour an entire

Brenda's POV I woke up the next morning in an unusually foul mood. The other side of the bed was already empty, which meant Kennedy had left for work without waking me. Normally, I would have been annoyed that he had gone without saying goodbye, but the moment another wave of nausea rolled through my stomach, I forgot about him completely. Pregnancy was becoming increasingly inconvenient and stressful. I pushed myself out of bed, slipped into a silk robe, and made my way downstairs, hoping I could find something that would settle my stomach. Unfortunately, the moment I entered the dining room, the smell of pancakes and oatmeal hit me. My stomach lurched violently. "Take that away!" Everyone at the table froze. I pressed a hand over my mouth and hurried toward the nearest window. "I swear I'm going to throw up. Why does the whole house smell like that?" Kennedy's mother immediately stood up, looking alarmed. "Goodness, Brenda, I'm so sorry. Fiona, take the pancakes away.

Janelle’s POV “What do you mean?” The question had barely left my lips when Zane stepped closer, his hands settling around my waist with a confidence that immediately made my heartbeat quicken. Before I could figure out what he intended to do, he lifted me onto the edge of the wide executive desk, sending a few papers sliding across the polished surface. I stared up at him, suddenly very aware of how close we were. The memory of last night came rushing back without warning, and I hated how easily my body betrayed me whenever I thought about it. I remembered the warmth of his skin beneath my fingers, the sound of his voice whispering my name, and the tenderness that had followed afterward. It was still difficult to believe that I had allowed myself to become that vulnerable with him, especially after spending so long believing intimacy was something I should be ashamed of. Zane leaned closer, his lips brushing against my neck. A shiver travelled through me. “Zane,” I whispe

Zane's POV All through the drive to my company, I couldn't stop thinking about Janelle. Last night had replayed in my mind so many times that I had eventually given up trying to focus on anything else. There was something about the way she had responded to me, the way she had slowly let her guard down despite all the things she'd been through, that had stayed with me long after we'd finally fallen asleep. At twenty-eight, I wasn't exactly inexperienced when it came to women, but Janelle had affected me in a way I hadn't expected. She wasn't simply beautiful; she was exactly my type of woman, with her soft curves, gorgeous face, and the kind of natural sensuality that didn't need to be forced. What surprised me most was how perfectly we matched sexually. She had matched my energy without hesitation, and there was something incredibly addictive about that. I smiled when I remembered how embarrassed she'd been afterward, as though she couldn't believe she'd actually allowed her

Kennedy's POV “Did you just raise your voice at me because of a necklace?” Brenda's voice trembled as she stared at me, her eyes already filling with tears. She looked genuinely offended, as though the fact that I had just lost a billion-dollar contract had somehow become less important than the way I had spoken to her. I dragged a hand down my face, trying to control the frustration burning through me. “Brenda, that isn't what I meant.” “No, don't do that, Kenn.” She shook her head, stepping away from me. “You don't get to speak to me like that and then act like nothing happened. You came home angry, you told me I was insensitive, and now you're blaming me because you lost some contract. Am I the reason you lost the Bellasimo deal?” I stared at her. “Yes.” The moment the word left my mouth, her expression changed. “You're the reason,” I continued, my anger getting the better of me. “I listened to your recording. I trusted what you told me to say, and I repeated it in tha
