Kabanata 2

I shrugged both of my shoulders back and forth as I look at the large waves and the wind that touches my skin.

Next week will be my 18th birthday, and I'm finally turning legal. My brother said that it's never easy to be a teenager nor in legal age, he's 19 and I'm 18... turning 18, I mean. And the 3rd born is just 17 turning 18 at the end of the month. We all have a 1-year gap.

We are currently packing up to go home tonight but I'm still enjoying the view since we still have 10 hours, we plan to go back to our house. Since the three of us are living on the same roof, separated from our parents' house. We don't have maids and drivers, our parents taught us to live independently while we are just still kids. My friends and Kuya Veron and Von's common friends are on their way here to fetch us. We'll do a quick bonding and go home after.

We've been living together on the same roof for almost 4 years already without our parents. And while I'm still an 11-year-old before, Mom taught me to cook all the dishes that exist in the country. She taught me to clean the house, to cook, to bake, household chores, to garden, some kitchen tools, and equipment, she even taught me how to do groceries and budget well the card she gave me.

Because we knew that if Kuya Veron's going to handle everything in our house... he'll just waste the money with different things. And if Von handles that, he'll just probably lost it. I am much responsible than them.

And now, they just went home for mine and Maverick Von's birthday, he's the youngest but we have the same year level in college because he didn't study some elementary levels. Marco Veron's the oldest and I'm the 2nd born. Ever since Mom and Dad were always staying in the United States of America. They'll just visit us if it's our birthday or a special occasion. We don't usually worry about our finances, they add money on our own bank accounts.. separated from the house bills.

I usually don't use my debts that much. If I use it, I'll just probably shop for clothes, shoes, and make-up.. even though I don't use makeup when going to school... it's only for future and personal purposes. Mom taught me how to do and use it.

She tells me that I should use it if I'm going to date someone, she also said that I need to choose a handsome and a wealthy man that truly loves me and I deserve the most.

"Markisha Venicity!" Someone interrupted me. I look at where the voice came from. I saw my friends Alondra, Avianna, Veronica, Sebastian, together with Kuya Veron and Von's common friends Light, Dark, Axon and Valentin.

I talk to Light, Dark, and Axon everyday.. but I don't have the chance to talk Valentin ever since, for the 10 years of their friendship with my brothers.

Light Crisostomo Sanchez is a happy-go-lucky and always joke around. I always see him smile with his deep dimples both of his cheeks. He's handsome with his smileful chinky eyes.

His twin, Dark Christian Sanchez, a cold and mysterious one, but I see him smile but not always. His name fits him well, he has dark features. Dark brown almond eyes are well partnered with his black shiny hair.

Axon Vincent Hidalgo, Avianna's older brother. He has the same features as Light, he always smile and his jokes were everywhere. His eyes are attractive, when the sun hits his eyes it becomes light brown.

And Valentin Constantino Cuarez is Veronica's twin, a very bad boy, and a womanizer. If he dares to touch with one of my friends, I'll kill him with my own bare hands. Among Light and Dark, I find him very attractive. I really like his blue eyes, it attracts and caught my attention. It's like it has meanings when he looked at you in the eyes.

But, as far as I can remember.. Avianna likes Kuya Veron, Veronica likes Von, and Alondra likes Axon. While my best friend, Sebastian... Alondra's brother, he doesn't like anyone and also me. While Light and Dark, I don't know about them... but Light attracts me the most because of his attitude, sometimes I don't see him with a girl.. just once a week.

Sometimes, my friends are always planning to sleep in my house so they can see the person they like. But I always tell them that they're a freaking womanizer, bad boys, and more. But they don't care, though. They just continue to chase them. So, since I don't like anyone and also Sebastian, we always go out both without them.. we even look like in a relationship, but we don't care because all we know that we're just good best friends.. since high school.

I walk towards them, they hug and greet me one by one. But of course, Valentin greets me but he didn't hug me like the others. I'm shocked that he greets me, I just give him a small smile. That's okay, at least he's here. We walk through the seashore. They're just talking about their girls, while my friends were busy taking the pictures. They also took me a solo picture. Lying on the sand, sitting on the sand, under the tree, in the sea, and more! I know how to pose because since I was a kid, I really want to be a model when I finished studying. And during my high school days, I always join beauty pageants.

"Tanda na natin, ah?" Pagpaparinig ni Light habang naglalakad kami.

"Legal na legal na. Dalagang dalaga na rin." Inakbayan ako ni Axon, inalis ko agad ang kamay niyang kasing bigat ng sako kung ipatong sa akin.  Parang ewan.

"Fuck-off, Light, Axon. Hahampasin ko kayo ng hawak ko," I said my cleaning my surfing board.

At the age of 10, Mom taught me to learn all the sports, instruments, and talents. Sports like Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Swimming, Surfing, Billiards, gymnastics, Darts, to hold and shoot using a gun, how to use a knife. Instruments like piano, guitar, drums, xylophone, violin, tuba, flute, and harmonica. Since birth, I know how to dance and sing.

Mom tried to teach my brothers what I've learned, but they don't have any interest in it. But, Dad taught them how to catch a bunch of girls and how to leave them. Like, I didn't expect that Dad is the one who'll teach them how to catch and act like a man.

While me, Mom taught me how to be conservative and always act like a woman, she taught me martial arts.. she said that it's for future purposes. She even taught me how to fling with guys, but only flings, I don't take it seriously. I just do it due to boredom.

As I look at the large waves, I smile widely. I unzipped the zipper in front of my black fitted rashguard up to my chest with black swimming underwear. I tie the long black thin rope on my right ankle. I stood up from the sand, I look at my friends who's busy doing their photoshoots. I let my hair down, I didn't tie it.

I ran in the sand until I reach the seawater carrying my black surfing board with my name on it. As the seawater reaches above my knees, I threw the surfboard on the seawater and jumped on it, I lie down on it and I used my hand to move.

As the large wave is approaching, I hold the front edge on the surfing board and I inhaled a lot of air as my whole force pushed the surfing board down into the water. I looked at the rest of the underwater below with fish and the coral reefs. I look up and see the large wave that surpasses me.

Seeing that the wave was passing me, I pushed the surfing board up from the water. As I lifted up I look back as I heard the cheers of my friends and the boys. When I looked in front of me there was a huge wave approaching me, I didn't expect and see it!

I quickly arched my hands for movements backward. As I look back, I saw it approaching towards me so I quickly stand on my board, I inspected it and the edge of the side. I surf at the top of the waves causing the chants of my friends to grow louder.

I did a few more times before sitting down first on my board. I observed the beauty of the calm sea, everytime I look at a calm sea, it also calms everything in me. And also add the beauty of the sunset. You can see the light getting eaten by darkness from the dawn.

After I finished looking at the sea, I go back to the seashore, I carried my surfing board while brushing my hair. As I reach the shore, Axon quickly went to me, amuse can be seen in his eyes.

Axon held both of my shoulders and shake it fast and quickly, causing the surfboard I was holding to fell on the white and clear sand. I shout in front of Axon's face.

"What the fuck, Axon!? Stop it, you're like a fucking kiddo!"

"Puking ina, tao pa ba 'to? Una, magaling magluto, pangalawa magaling sa swimming at badminton, tapos ngayon magaling mag-surfing. Ano pa bang hindi mo kayang gawin, ha? Ano. Sagot!" Leche'ng sigaw ni Axon sa akin matapos akong alug-alugin sa balikat.

"Alam mo ikaw..." Light cut his sentence and also come closer at me, "Tinatapakan mo buong pagka-tao ko. Hindi na ako tatabi sa'yo kapag nagkataong magla-labas ka ng gan'yang talento mong pagkadami-dami." Pinag-ekis niya pa ang braso niya sa dibdib niya at nakakunot ang noo'ng naka-tingin sa akin.

"I really think she still has talents beneath her soul. Pahingi ako!" Alondra said while fixing her hair and looking at me.

"Loko ka ba, Alondra? Di'ba dapat alam mo lahat ng talento ni Mave, kasi ikaw ang palaging kasama? Tss, umalis ka dito ilulublob kita sa dagat d'yan at ipapakain kita sa mga pating kasama ang mga shokoy!" Inis na sigaw ni Sebastian sa kaniya. At tinabig si Light at Axon na nasa harapan ko at humarap sa akin at ngumiti. "Hi, baby, ang galing mo! Kaya love na love kita, eh!" Kabaklaan na namang nitong saad.

"Tanga, wala ang shokoy 'don. Nandito, mismo sa harapan ko." Pigil na tawang kong saad. Humagalpak naman sila ng tawa at inis na tumingin sa akin si Sebastian habang naka-busangot ang mukha.

"Love you, Sebseb ko!" Malambing kong saad, lumapit ako dito at inakbayan, nagpigil naman ito ng ngiti at nagkatinginan kami.

"Hoy, feel na feel mo, ah?" Nawala na ang ngiti ni Sebastian, napalitan ng inis at lumingon kay Light.

"Putspa! Nababakla ka na naman, Seb!" Natatawang sigaw ni Axon, natawa naman kami.

"Mave, puking ina, stop that! Baka umasa si Lolo mo Sebastian!" Mas lalo akong natawa sa sinabi ni Avianna, pero tumigil din nang titigan ako ng masama ni Sebastian.

"Hoy, 'wag ninyo ngang inaaway si Seb!" Sita ko sa kanila.

"Oh, di'ba, Sebastian! Si Mave pa nag-tatanggol sa'yo! Itatakwil kita sa barkada!" Sigaw ni Light na sinamahan pa ng nakakabinging tawa.

Maraming asaran pa ang nangyari habang naglalakad kami pabalik ng hotel na tinutuluyan namin. Naligo ako at nasa labas sila at nanonood ng movie sa laptop ko. Nagsuot lang ako ng white high waisted shorts and black tank top at sandals.

Lumabas ako galing sa bathroom nang makita ko silang nagsisisksikan sa iisang kama. Natawa ako dahil lahat sila ay tutok sa pinapanood nila, mukhang wala nang kumukurap. Pero nahagilap ng mata ko si Valentin, nakatingin ito sa akin pero nang makitang nakatingin ako ay nag-iwas ito ng tingin.
