Chapter 17 Not Selling To Her

Nell “The Assistant” Jennings stepped forward stubbornly and raised her arm with a sneer. “What if I insist on trying it out?”

The shop assistant frowned. Someone else standing to the side heard the commotion and walked over.

“What’s the matter?”

The shop assistant whispered a few words to her colleague, and the new arrival immediately squeezed out a false smile.

“Ms, this dress is part of our brand’s new seasonal lineup. It costs 88,800 yuan. Are you sure you want to buy it?”

Nell laughed coldly. “I haven’t even tried it on but you’re already asking if I’m buying it or not. Your shop really knows how to entertain its customers!”

“My apologies, but we’re also trying to protect the interests of other customers. After all, the clothes in our shop are very expensive. If everyone tries them on but doesn’t buy them, wouldn’t all our clothes end up becoming second-hand? Wouldn’t you say?”

The shop assistant had a smile on her face, but her eyes were full of ridicule and mockery.

Nell felt that she must have forgotten to look at the almanac before leaving the house today. How else could she have met such an idiot?

Indeed, the eldest daughter of the Jennings family, who had always been well-bred, now only wanted to open her mouth to curse!

She fished out a cheque from her purse and slapped it on the counter.

“Can I try it now?”

The shop assistant’s gaze swept over and grew shocked.

Ignoring the first number, the amount written on the cheque was followed by several zeroes. They did not need to count to see that the amount was in the millions.

The two’s eyes towards Nell immediately switched and quickly put on flattering smiles. “Of course you can. Please wait for a moment. I’ll get it for you.”

Nell snorted. For the sake of that designer she liked so much, she did not bother with the two assistants and simply took the dress into the fitting room.

The dress fit perfectly. It was indeed the style of her favorite designer, Alex. The dark blue gradient was low-key but luxurious, and both the workmanship and the design made it impossible to pick out a single fault.

When she wore the dress out, the shop assistants were shocked as well.

Before, they saw her dressed casually and following behind Janet Hancock, so they thought that she was Janet’s assistant.

Now, no one dared to feel that way.

After all, whether it was from her figure or looks, or even that cold and gorgeous aura, it was not something that a mere assistant would possess.

The shop assistant who served her before came forward excitedly. “Miss, you look great in this dress. I’ve seen many people in it, but I’ve never seen anyone who looks as good as you do in it!”

The others chimed in their agreements.

They were not just flattering her. It was the actual truth.

Nell curled her lips and smiled. After changing out of the dress, she generously placed it on the counter.

“Wrap it for me.”

The shop assistant was naturally happy. She had thought that Nell would hold a grudge and refuse to buy it because of what they said earlier, but now it seemed that they were overthinking.

However, at that moment, a young man and woman walked in from outside.

“Why, if it isn’t the eldest Ms. Jennings?”

Nell looked back and her expression instantly darkened.

Today really was a bad day. There were dogs barking at her everywhere she went.

She ignored them and turned back to the shop assistant. “Wrap it up well for me. Make sure to check for any flaws along the way.”

“Certainly.”

The shop assistant held the dress up happily and was about to wrap it up when she was stopped by someone.

Hayley Morton looked at the label on the dress and smiled. “Hey, you just extorted a sum of money from my brother and can’t wait to splurge it all already? The dress costs more than 80,000 yuan. Nell Jennings, are you worthy enough to wear it?”

Nell narrowed her eyes coldly. “Whether I’m worthy or not is none of your business! Scram!”

“Tsk tsk, why are you getting so mad? Don’t worry, I’m not here to ask you for money. A meager few million yuan doesn't mean that much to our families anyway. Just think of it as money you earned from the nights you spent with my brother over the years.

“It’s been six years after all, so there are at least two thousand nights. You weren’t that expensive. Even a hooker on the street costs two thousand yuan per night! Don’t you agree, Clark?”

Hayley covered her lips and laughed delicately.

The man beside her was Clark Simmons, a C-list actor under Fenghua. He had received a few roles under Nell’s grace before, but his popularity had always been lukewarm. Later, the company stopped throwing resources to him.

She did not know how he had ended up with Hayley Morton.

Clark looked incredibly awkward. He could not agree yet he was not able to disagree either.

Nell sneered.

“Hayley Morton, go back and ask your brother if anything has ever happened between us in the past.”

Hayley raised her eyebrows.

She was not young anymore. She knew very well about the happenings between a man and woman.

In her eyes, after dating for so many years, it was impossible for nothing to have happened.

After all, what era were they living in? Her brother was not that abstinent.

Hayley laughed. “Just keep pretending! My brother isn’t stupid. Although you’re super annoying, your looks are acceptable. Do you think he’ll just let go of meat that’s sent straight to his mouth?”

Nell also smiled and shook her head regretfully.

“You’re right. Your brother isn’t stupid, and I’m not ugly either, so… Why do you think he didn’t touch me?”

Then, she tilted her head and stared at Hayley with interest.

Hayley felt somewhat uneasy at her stare.

She could not tell what she was uneasy about, but she simply had an uncomfortable feeling. It was as if Nell had a hidden secret that she was not telling her.

Her expression twisted.

“What do you mean?”

Nell grinned. “Nothing much. Although I have a bad temper, my character is good. I don’t like to badmouth people behind their backs, so if you’re curious, just ask him yourself!

“After all, he’s the only son in your family, so if something goes wrong, you’ll end up with no more descendants! A traditional man like Uncle Thomas would be very sad to hear this news.”

Hayley’s face changed completely.

“Nell Jennings! That’s bullsh*t! My brother can’t be what you’re implying.”

Nell shrugged. “Then just think of it as me bullsh*tting!”

Then, she took her card out for the shop assistant to swipe.

Hayley stopped her again.

“Wait!”

Nell frowned.

She hated this annoying part of Hayley the most. She said impatiently, “What do you want now?”

Hayley snatched the dress from the shop assistant’s hands and said brashly, “I want this skirt. Don’t sell it to her!”

Nell was so angry she almost laughed instead.

“Hayley Morton, are you a child? Does this mall belong to you? Why are you being so unreasonable?”

Hayley raised her chin. “That’s right. This mall is owned by my family. If I say we’re not selling to you, then we’re not selling to you!”

Then, she turned to the shop assistant.

“I’m the daughter of the Morton family. You should know who we are, right?”

The assistant turned pale and nodded quickly. “Yes, of course. You’re one of the shareholders of the mall.”

Hayley raised her eyebrows at Nell smugly.

Nell. “...”

At that moment, an ice-cold voice suddenly sounded from outside the entrance.

“I’m surprised. Since when did a small shareholder have the right to control the decision of a customer?”

The crowd was stunned and looked up, only to see a young man walk in with several people.

Nell’s eyes widened.
