Chapter 2

Hailey's POV

The men held me tightly, three of them. I looked at their faces and they were looking so scary. Why are they holding me so tightly? It hurts.

“You’re hurting me” I whispered and sobbed

“Where do you think you are going, Jonny?” I heard the man ask my father

This man instills so much fear into my dad. For the first time since I was born, I saw my dad tremble. He was practically shivering.

“I … I … I …We were just going on a vacation” Dad stammered

VACATION?

What type of a lie is that?

Who goes on a vacation without planning??

“We weren’t going on a vacation!” I shouted and squeezed my face

I hate lies.

Everyone turned to look at me. Dad was looking angry but, the man who made my father tremble was smiling at me.

I definitely cannot look at my father right now, I turned my face and my eyes met with that man. He kept smiling at me.

“You’re not going on vacation?” He asked me

“Nope” I shook my head

“So, where were you headed?” He asked

I shrugged “I don’t know. He just woke me up from my beauty sleep, three weeks after he forced me to take lessons at home and told me we’re leaving” I frowned

He walked closer to me “You don’t want to take lessons from home?” He asked

I shook my head “I want to attend school like every other girl out there”

“Interesting. So, would you love to come to Mexico with me?” He asked

I looked at him “Are you dumb? We’re in Mexico” I said and rolled my eyes

I felt a slap and then heard another person groan. I looked around and observed what just happened.

I called this man dumb and one of the men holding me slapped me but het punched the man. He protected me. That is something my dad would never do. I looked at my dad and he was looking surprised. I looked at the man and he was looking angrily at the man who had just punched me. He signaled the rest of them to let go of me and they did. I rubbed the spot where they had been holding. Damn. It hurts!

“Nobody hurts her! Nobody! Am I clear? Am I fucking clear enough?” He thundered and these grown up men who had been holding me nodded like fools.

He took a deep breath and turned to me.

“Audrey.” He called

“How did you know my name?” I asked ‘I never told you that”

He smiled sheepishly “I have my ways of finding out things that are hidden” He said and moved his gaze to my dad

My eyes widened in shock. Was father hiding me? Was he really ashamed of me?

I mean, He says it a couple of time that he’s really ashamed of me and stuffs like that but I only believed that he said those things because he was angry.

Tears threatened to drop from my eyes but I held them back.

“Were you hiding me?” I asked my dad

He looked down without answering me.

“I’ll take that as a yes” I nodded and looked away from him

“Hailey" The strange man called me. I looked at him “Would you like to go with me or would you prefer to go with your father?” He asked

I stood there looking at him as I thought deeply about his offer.

“You would be free to attend a normal school like other girls. No one would force you to learn anything from home. You’ll be as free as you want” He said

Damn! I’m definitely not going back with dad! I can’t go back to being in bondage

But, I also need to benefit something from this.

“You will also teach me how to find out things that are hidden, and you also have to teach me how to fight” I said smiling

He laughed and nodded “Agreed.”

“Then, I’ll go with you.” I said and smiled

“AUDREY!!” I heard dad thunder

I refused to look at him.

“You have lost all rights to her!” The strange man said to him

“She’s my daughter!” Dad said and I scoffed

“Well, she chose me over you”

“This was not our agreement, Tyler” Dad shouted

Tyler!

“What was the agreement?” Tyler asked him and smirked

“The agreement was that I would give you anything even if it was something precious to me. We never agreed that I’ll give you my daughter”

“Well, we never agreed on any particular precious thing Jonny” Tyler replied my father

“You don’t know if she’s really precious to me” Dad said

“Well, I decide what is precious to you!” Tyler thundered “And.. this precious possession of yours, seems to hate you now” He smirked

“Audrey!” Dad called but I refused to look at him

I’m so irritated by the sound of his voice.

“Audrey please come with me” He begged

“Why?” I asked him “Why should I trust you? How do I know you won’t hit me if I decide to come with you?” I added

“Have I ever hit you?” He asked

“Well, now that I chose your enemy over you, you might hate me even more.”

“I can’t hate my own daughter!” He fired

“But, you can hide me?!” I fired back at him

He sighed “I’m sorry Audrey. I was about taking you to meet your mother” He said

“That’s a lie! You just want me to come to you now” I said to him

“No, I swear!” He said

I turned to look at Tyler

“I’ll go with my father, I have to see my mum” I rushed my words

“No can do sweetie. You already chose a side”

“You can take me back after I see my mum” I said “Please I have to see my mum” I begged him

“I’m really sorry dearie but I can trust your papa, he’s a really cunning man”

“If he doesn’t let me go, I’ll run away” I cried

“Still, I can’t trust that he’ll give you any chance to escape him. You have just given him a clue of what you’ll do

“But…” I protested

“That’s you first lesson, pumpkin. When you have a plan to carry out, never say it right in front of the enemy” He said

“But I have to see mama” I cried

He wiped my tears with his thumb “No can do pumpkin”

“But you gave me a choice and now, I’m choosing to go with papa”

“You already made a choice when you chose to go with me” He said and signaled the man to take me. They picked me up and carried me into the car and then they drove off.

I sat in the car and cried.
