Seline

We stopped in front of Isabel’s house. I paid the driver and stepped out, feeling the cool evening air brush against my skin. My heart raced with curiosity as I approached the gate. Thankfully, it was open. I was glad she had decided to leave it that way for me, it made the arrival feel more personal, more inviting.

The street was quiet, and I wondered why Isabel had called me here. There was no loud music, no signs of a party outside. A tiny pang of doubt crept into my mind, maybe I had misread the situation?

I pressed the doorbell, and within a minute, she opened the door with her usual cheerful energy.

"Welcome, girlfriend!" she said, her bright smile lighting up the doorway.

"Thank you. Why have you called me here? I was supposed to meet Jude. He will be so angry with me,” I said, trying to keep my voice casual.

"Don’t worry, he is waiting for you inside," Isabel said, and I am shocked.

"What is he doing here?" I asked, my mind racing.

We were so close, Isabel and I, but she had never been close with Jude. My boyfriend was supposed to be my boyfriend alone. He was supposed to inform me first if he planned to come here. A swirl of guilt and confusion washed over me, but I forced a calm smile. I couldn’t show her how angry I felt.

"Just keep quiet and follow me, my friend," Isabel said, grabbing my hand and gently tugging me inside.

And then I saw it. My birthday party. Her house was beautifully decorated with delicate flowers and colorful balloons. Streamers hung from the ceiling, and a banner read, “Happy Birthday, Seline. Happy 29!”

A broad smile spread across my face. “When did you have the time to do all this, Isabel? It’s so pretty. I love it!” I say.

“It was my plan, but your boyfriend over there made everything happen,” Isabel said, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

I turned, and my heart nearly skipped a beat. There was Jude, seated on a chair with a broad, irresistible smile on his face. And around him, a few guests I hadn’t met before. My excitement surged so quickly that I almost couldn’t breathe.

I rushed to him and wrapped my arms around him tightly. “Thank you, my love. For all this. I am so happy. I love you.” say.

“I’m happy you liked it, my love,” he said, his eyes sparkling with warmth.

“Let the party begin!” Isabel says, cutting short my conversation with Jude.

* * * * * * *

The evening unfolded in a whirlwind of laughter, music, and celebration. There were songs, cake-cutting, my heartfelt speech, and now… the presents. My heart pounded with anticipation. What had Jude prepared for me?

“My lovely friend, here is my gift. Open it when you get home, please,” Isabel said, handing me a carefully wrapped package.

“Thank you, Isabel. You are a wonderful friend,” I reply, my smile radiant.

“And here is a gift from me, my love,” Jude said, offering me a small, neatly wrapped present. “Open it when you get home as well.” she then adds.

“I will. I promise,” I said, my heart full of love and gratitude.

The other guests handed me their gifts too, some of them unfamiliar faces. I knew this was all Isabel’s doing, and I didn’t care who was here.

“Seline. How could you not have invited me over to your party?” I hear a voice that made my blood run cold.

I froze. My stomach twisted into knots. I turned slowly and met the eyes of Luca, the man who had caused me so much pain in the past. My ex. I hadn’t thought of him in years. And now, here he was, on my special day, as if fate had thrown him straight into my arms.

“Luca, what are you doing here?” I ask, trying to keep my voice steady.

“It’s been a while, hasn’t it, my love? I couldn’t miss your special day,” he says, a smug, almost possessive smile on his face.

I glanced at Jude, whose expression had shifted from joy to disbelief. Clearly, he hadn’t expected this interruption. My heart sank.

“Luca. What are you even saying?” I asks, my voice trembling slightly.

Before I could react further, he lunged forward and wrapped me in a powerful hug, pulling me close to him. “Happy birthday, my love. I could never miss this special day of your life.” he then says.

“Luca, leave me!” I screamed, panic rising in my chest. I hoped that Jude would come to my aid, but instead, he stepped back and slowly leaves Isabel's house.

Luca’s grip was so strong. I could hardly escape him. “No, this can’t be happening,” I say desperately, struggling to free myself. His strength was overpowering, and I felt trapped in a nightmare I hadn’t expected tonight.

The room that was moments ago filled with joy and love now seemed to shrink around me. My birthday, meant to be a celebration of happiness and love, had suddenly turned into a tense confrontation with a painful past.

  • Stolen Heart    The perfect opportunity

IsabelI laughed as I watched Seline leave my gate. She had spent the rest of the day at my house, crying her eyes out, and I had to pretend I was a sympathetic friend. I cried with her while, in truth, I was laughing inside. At long last, my plan had worked, my plan to get Seline out of Jude's life for good. Honestly, I could not have done it without Lucas’s help. I was the one who contacted him and set everything in motion to make this girl’s life miserable. I was so pleased that it had all fallen into place with so little struggle. Now I would keep my promise to Seline, a promise that meant going to Jude’s house. But not to reunite them, I intended to make him hate her even more. I would make Jude mine. I would make sure it happened. After Seline left, I slipped into the bathroom to wash away the traces of the day. I was dying to see Jude, and there was no way I would let an opportunity like this pass. I chose my best dress, the one that hugged my body perfectly. I knew Jude would

SelineI wake up feeling so exhausted, my body heavy like I had been running all night. I had not even had a single ounce of sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, the same nightmares came back, Jude walking away from me, his voice cold, his eyes empty. The memory of our breakup kept replaying like a movie that refused to end, and it was driving me insane. With trembling hands, I reach for my phone on the nightstand. Maybe, just maybe, he had texted me. Maybe he had called to say it was all a mistake. But to my disappointment, the screen is blank. No messages. No missed calls. Nothing from him. That is when reality hits me like a wave I cannot outrun. This breakup is real. Jude is really gone. My chest tightens so painfully I can barely breathe. I don’t even know how I will continue with my life. It all feels so dull, so empty, like the color has been drained out of my world. Jude was my color, my light. Without him, I feel like a faded shadow of myself. As I lay there on my bed, hot tea

  • Stolen Heart    The stranger

Seline The man stops the car right in front of my house. For a moment, he does not say anything, he just stares at me. His eyes are calm, steady, but I cannot tell what exactly he is thinking. This has been a very quiet ride, almost painfully quiet. I had been sobbing the whole way here, drowning in my own pain and misery, and he hadn’t uttered a single word. At first, I thought the silence would crush me, but as the car moved along the streets, I started appreciating it. Sometimes, silence is the greatest kindness someone can offer. “We are here now,” he finally says, his voice low. I quickly wipe away the tears on my face using the handkerchief I had been holding in my hand to clear my vision, though my eyes still sting. I force myself to put on a straight face, even though inside I feel like I am about to collapse. “Thank you, sir. And here, your coat,” I say softly, handing it back to him. “Before you go, please tell me your name,” he asks. His tone carries no pressure,

  • Stolen Heart    Ending everything

Jude When I saw her at my gate that night, my heart stopped. Seline. The woman I had loved with everything inside me. The woman who had been my light for the past two years. There she was, standing outside in the cold, her eyes swollen with tears, her voice trembling as she begged me to let her in. My chest ached at the sight of her, and all I wanted in that moment was to open the gate, pull her into my arms, and shield her from the freezing night. But the image of what I had witnessed earlier kept replaying in my mind like a nightmare that refused to end. Luca. Standing too close to her. Smirking. Touching her like he owned her. And she didn’t push him away immediately. The pain that sight brought me was unbearable. My trust shattered in a single moment. For two years, I had believed that our love was unbreakable, that nothing could come between us. But tonight, it felt as if my heart had been ripped out of my chest and crushed before my very eyes. “What are you doing here?

  • Stolen Heart    The heartbreak

Seline I break free from Luca, the man who was standing beside me laughing as though my suffering amused him. The sound of his laughter cut deep into me, not just in my ears but into my very heart. It was cruel, mocking, and filled with triumph. “Why are you doing this, Luca?” I ask, my voice trembling as my chest rose and fell with panic. “I still love you,” he says with a twisted grin, his tone shameless and selfish. “And I want you back. So there is no way I will allow another man in your life.” he then adds. His words were venom. How dare he stand here, claiming love, when all he had ever given me was betrayal and hurt? I clenched my fists, anger burning inside me, but I refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing me fall apart. “You are sick, pathetic,” I say, my voice sharp even though inside I was trembling. I take my handbag from the where I had placed it and began rushing outside. My steps were hurried because all I could think about was Jude. The image of his face
