RYAN

I turned my head slowly, my pulse still hammering from the confrontation I hadn’t even finished. My breath caught again when I saw who the voice belonged to.

Elena.

She was walking toward us casually, but the second she noticed Rafael standing beside me, she halted, her eyes widening slightly.

“Oh… sorry,” she said, feigning innocence with a small wave of her hand. “I didn’t realize you had company.”

I knew that was all an act, but then why did she have to cover up for me?

She looked at me, then at Rafael, then back at me. Her presence felt like a goddamn fire extinguisher thrown into an open flame. The heat didn’t disappear, but it sizzled back just enough to confuse everyone in the room.

I glanced at Rafael.

And there it was.

Relief.

In his eyes. In his posture. In the way his chest dropped like he’d just dodged a bullet he wasn’t ready to take. His shoulders eased, and a tight breath escaped his mouth like he’d convinced himself I hadn’t just slept with his brother.

He didn’t

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    The truth

RYANI sat down, staring at the document in front of me, and sighed.I don’t know why I hesitated. The truth was already written in black and white, staring me in the face like it had been there all along, just waiting for me to stop running from it. But now that it was here… right here… I wasn’t sure I wanted to face it.Did I really want to do this?Ricardo hadn’t exactly been good to me. Most of the time, I felt like an object he could move around however he pleased… a weapon when he needed one, a distraction when he didn’t. But it hadn’t always been like that. But now, none of that mattered. This wasn’t about what we were, or what we pretended to be. This was about something bigger. About the one thing that’s haunted me since the day it happened. My mother. She didn’t deserve to die the way she did. And for so long, I didn’t know who was behind it… who gave the order, who pulled the strings, who decided her life didn’t matter enough to keep. There was a time he made me feel like I

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    I tasted blood.

RICARDO I sighed, rubbing a hand over my face. “Alright… but I need you to find out who the hell is behind this, Claire. Today. I don’t care what strings you have to pull or how dirty it gets. I want a name.”There was a beat of silence before she muttered, “Alright. I’ll see what I can do.”“No. Don’t see,” I snapped. “Do. I’m not asking you to babysit a parking ticket. Two of my containers are gone. I was drugged. The dock manager vanished. That’s not a coincidence, Claire.”“I said I’ll handle it,” she hissed. “I’ll check internal memos, transfers, orders. If anyone made a move this morning under my nose, I’ll find them.”“You’ve got six hours,” I said. “Call me back with a name.”“Six hours?” she echoed, incredulous.“You’re smart. Be faster.”“Ricardo…”I hung up.I didn’t have time for panic. I needed movement. Action. I needed people to bleed for this. The moment the call ended, my door creaked open slightly.“Boss?” It was Marcus again. “You’re gonna want to see this.”He ste

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    Don’t start with me

RICARDOBang. Bang. Bang.I groaned and opened one eye.Bang. Bang. Bang. The pounding on the door grew louder, sharper, until it felt like it was slamming against my skull.“Fuck…” I muttered, pressing a hand to my forehead. My head was pounding. Aching like I'd been hit with a goddamn steel bat. What the hell happened last night?I sat up slowly, blinking against the blinding daylight filtering through the window. The pain in my head made it hard to think, like I’d been drugged or drinking, but I couldn’t remember touching a single drop of liquor. My tongue was dry. My limbs heavy.Something was off.Really off.I looked around the room, scanning every corner, every surface, trying to piece it together. There was a faint trace of perfume in the air… Lipstick on a water bottle on the nightstand.Someone had been here. With me.But who?Nothing. Not a damn thing came back. My memory of last night was completely blank. Like it had been wiped clean. The banging came again, this time har

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    What a joke

ELENAThe moment I shut the door behind me, I laughed and threw my fists in the air.Finally.I jerked my fists into the air in a silent victory cheer.Everything was going exactly as planned.Ryan was gone. Rafael too. And Ricardo? That fool was somewhere licking his wounds, heartbroken, humiliated, and angrier than he’d ever been. Perfect. Just the way I needed him, broken enough to trust me, desperate enough to keep me close. This house, this empire… it was all mine now.I turned to the mirror and smirked."Now’s the time, Elena," I told my reflection. I brushhed through my thick black hair until it gleamed, then tied it back loosely with a satin ribbon that brought out my oval shaped face. Then I walked over to my wardrobe, flung the doors open, and stared at the rows of dresses lined up.One by one, I yanked a few out.A black velvet gown… elegant, but too stiff.A red strapless… too loud.A silky green… ugh, too soft.I tossed them all on the bed, my lips curled in frustration.

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    This was just the beginning.

RYANI wasn’t hurting because Ricardo kicked me out.No, that wasn’t what cracked my chest open.It was the fact that I had barely started, barely gotten my plan into motion and already he’d found out part of the truth.I clenched my jaw, pacing the room like a lion in a cage.Stupid mistake. I should’ve known Rafael would run his mouth eventually. I should’ve dealt with him first. But I wasn’t done. Not even close.I already had one of the files I needed. One of Ricardo’s little secrets, tucked safely away in the bottom of my bag. That file alone could bury him in ways he didn’t even see coming. I just needed a little more time just enough to end this. End him. And then Lucas. That snake.. I knew he'd d come for me the second he smelled blood in the water. And right now? I was leaking.Fine.Let them come.I’ll bury them both.I walked over to my duffel bag and unzipped it, calmly pulling out my clothes and folding them into the box.Behind me, I heard my door creak. I glanced up.Ra

  • Stripper by Night, Doctor by Deception    I will put you in the ground

RICARDOI hadn’t meant to eavesdrop.I was only heading to Ryan’s room to check on him, to make sure he was okay. I told myself it was just to talk, just to clear the air. Maybe even tell him how much I missed him. Ask if he’d really… forgiven me.But then I heard Rafael’s voice. The words hit me like a damn bullet, and I froze. The pain in my side, the one from the bullet wound that still hadn’t fully healed spiked hard. I gripped the doorframe, my whole body turned cold. Rafael kept talking. His voice cracked with rage and betrayal, and every word was like a hammer shattering my chest.“I knew you weren’t a doctor. I knew you lied to Ricardo about your background.”What?No.That couldn’t be right.I had seen Ryan treat wounds. I’d seen him with my men, giving orders, holding scalpels… Hadn’t I?Wait.No. He hadn’t really done anything himself, had he?He was always barking instructions. Always letting the other guy do the hard stuff. The stitching. The surgery. But now…Was I a fo
