Harper’s POV

I reversed into the school's parking lot, barely able to avoid hitting the car next to me, and I exhaled with relief as I successfully parked the car.

I drove so slowly that I'm sure even a snail would have made it to school already.

It seemed like I would need a lot more practice before I'm able to master how to drive properly.

My phone beeped beside me again, and I reached for it.

I was too nervous earlier to check who was calling.

It looked less like a hospital room and more like an expensive private office, with a sitting area, large windows, expensive furniture, and enough space to fit an entire family. Marla was standing near the window, speaking on the phone. She glanced at us. Her eyes immediately landed on me, then she ended the call. She walked toward the sofa and sat down. Mom and I followed suit, and she spoke first. "I'm sorry about what happened." She took my hand. "How is he?" "I made myself clear to you the other night, didn't I?" she said, her eyes fixed coldly on me. "I warned you to stay away from my son, but not only did you not listen to me, but you almost killed him today." My stomach tightened. "I did nothing to him. He had an accident while we were skating." I explained, but she doesn't seem interested in hearing that. Marla scoffed. "Of course. I'm sure you would have an excuse to give.
