Chapter 7 Expose the Conspiracy

"Housekeeper Chen, why can't we eat them? My sister Mengwu gave them to me before I got into the sedan chair. She said that if Prince Yu and I ate them, we could have our own baby soon! "

Lin Mengya was known as a naïve girl, so nobody was shocked when she spoke this freely.

The sentence was almost what Lin Mengwu had initially said, but Lin Mengya added Prince Yu into the picture.

Housekeeper Chen began to sweat heavier in fear, back now drenched. If Prince Yu became suspicious of what Lin Mengya just said and had those dates tested, it would now look like they’d attempted to kill the prince!

Trying not to panic, Housekeeper Chen reminded himself that he often tricked Lin Mengya.

"These dates are not fresh. Prince Yu is from a royal family. The things our family eats are not high enough quality for him.“

"Oh..." Lin Mengya moved the dates from Long Tianyu's mouth and held them in front of her eyes to inspect them.

Seeing that Lin Mengya seemed to agree with him, Housekeeper Chen breathed a sigh of relief.

Before he could finish his breath, Lin Mengya spoke again.

"No wonder they hurt my stomach. I even spat something black after eating one just now!"

She pulled the bloody handkerchief out of her sleeve and held it where everyone could see.

"Look! I thought it was because of my disease. It turns out to be because the dates weren’t fresh!" she said.

The crowd was shocked—the black stain was clearly blood! The black in it had to be from poison.

It turned out that this second daughter in the Lin family was not as gentle and virtuous as the rumor said. She was such a cruel person!

Long Tianyu's face was almost darker than the blood. He was born in the imperial family. Naturally, he knew that there was no true kinship between brothers and sisters, but he hated a person that acted kind and shot you in the back.

He didn't expect that Lin Mengwu had been the one to try and kill her sister in such a cold hearted way. He could imagine how much pain the woman in his arms suffered as she vomited out the blood.

People had already began to mutter, and Housekeeper Chen's face was as white as ashes. Prince Yu was perceptive. It was useless to try and talk his way out of this right now. He watched the prince’s silent and sorrowful face. He had just learned how cruel this man could be.

However, he did not know that Long Tianyu didn't say anything at this moment because he wanted to see how the rumored fool in his arms would deal with them.

Listening to people whispering about Lin Mengwu and their words becoming harsher and harsher, Lin Mengya smiled.

“Well, in this case, let's make the dates into the dry ones and store them up. After all, they are gifts from my sister, but... Prince Yu, don't eat it!"

Long Tianyu's looked at her with renewed respect—This woman was not stupid at all; instead, she was unusually clever.

Lin Mengwu was the Queen's niece. If Lin Mengya insisted on her sister’s guilt and the tests were inconclusive, it might make her look worse than her sister.

However, she chose to make the matter public in this way. Seemingly, she did nothing, but the reputation of Lin Mengwu plummeted, which was even worse than beating her dozens of times!

In the end, she made an excuse to keep the evidence, so that she could take it out again if she wanted to investigate in the future!

This woman... was a little interesting!

It seemed this wedding wouldn’t be completely boring.

He felt a little happy, but he didn’t understand why or even realizing he was smiling.

“Good.”

The crowd felt as if things had suddenly become brighter as they watched the cold prince smile. It was a smile so fascinating that the unmarried women along the street found themselves blushing, secretly jealous of the woman in the prince’s arms.

In that moment, the street was silent.

Until Lin Mengya broke the peace again.
