CH48 - Dereck's POV
I’m too dumbfounded to even chase after Kai. He just called me Cedric and then tried to pretend he didn’t and fled. Why did he call me the alpha’s name instead of my own? Is this why Kai has been acting so strange ever since coming here? Has Cedric said or done something to him?
The more I think about everything that I’ve noticed lately, the odd question about scents, the more I need to sort this out. I take a deep breath in and calm my frustrations as much as I can. If I accuse Cedric of forcing himself on Kai and it turns out I am wrong, then he will not only know we have been sneaking around behind his back but who knows what else he will do?
There has to be an explanation for this, and I need to get to the bottom of it. I can’t act jealous or rash right now. If this is all a misunderstanding, then Kai needs me to stay safe and not risk the ire of the alpha. However, I can't just ignore this either. The fact that Kai ran off means there

At first, I was surprised that Dereck had figured out the truth so quickly, but in a way, I’m glad. There are a few ways I can use his love for Kai to my advantage, but this might mean I’ll have to accept a few things myself. The sound of people laughing and having a good time fills my ears. I must have worked myself up into an emotional wreck, as I don’t know when the party downstairs must have started. I had never noticed people arriving until now.How long had they been partying without me realising it? I still have figured nothing out, but no one has come to look for me either. I wonder if that is a sign that Dereck has said nothing to anyone about what happened. Or hasn’t spoken to Cedric at least?I bite my lower lip and force myself to my feet. I don’t want to go down there looking like a mess, but I’m getting hungry and I need to deal with this issue at some point. A party would be a suitable cover to sneak off, and it’s not like I can hide from Dereck forever.I take notice of my puffy face and red eyes. Sighing, I wash my face and do what I can to freshen up a bit. There’s not a lot I can do, but I doubt anyone will pay me any attention.

At first, the silence between us is deafening. However, once we’ve found a more secluded place away from the party, she finally breaks the silence between us.“You’re not originally from this pack, are you?” She asks, her friendly smile only serving to annoy me further. I had tried in vain to get Kai’s attention. No matter how much I called his name, he was on some kind of mission and nothing would distract him from it. I’m glad that Dereck has agreed to help. This is unfamiliar territory for all three of us, but it will benefit me more if I just accept that these two are going to keep sneaking off behind my back. With Dereck aiding me, Kai will see that accepting things will make being here enjoyable. Perhaps he will finally accept me, too. I feel so betrayed by Dereck at first, but that feeling forms into something strange and new when I see him kissing and touching Cedric. Jealousy? That’s what they tease me with, but there’s more to how I feel than that. My body has decided that this is pretty nice to watch.I try to pretend nothing is going on between me and either of these men, for fear they are doing some kind of dominant dance to see which of them I’ll pick. I'm shocked when Kai gives me his consent to fuck him. I didn’t think Dereck could convince him so easily. I honestly don’t know how to feel about that, but I can’t argue with the results. If it means I’m one step closer to having Kai accept me, then this sacrifice to share him is one I’ll make.I take the lube out of the drawers beside the bed and pour some on my fingers. With Kai now so exhausted he fell asleep, it was time for me and Cedric to talk things out. I watch him get some wet towels to clean Kai up and then when he is done, I say, “you really seem to treat him well.”“Of course I do,” Cedric responds. He glances down at the sleeping alpha and then looks back at me. “He is my mate. It is the least I can do to make him feel good and pampered. I don’t want him to think this is nothing but a game to me.”I give a low, thoughtful hum.
