With Kai now so exhausted he fell asleep, it was time for me and Cedric to talk things out. I watch him get some wet towels to clean Kai up and then when he is done, I say, “you really seem to treat him well.”

“Of course I do,” Cedric responds. He glances down at the sleeping alpha and then looks back at me. “He is my mate. It is the least I can do to make him feel good and pampered. I don’t want him to think this is nothing but a game to me.”

I give a low, thoughtful hum. That is a fair point, but I don’t think he realises that without the truth, Kai will continue to assume that to be the case. And what’s worse is now he might assume the same of me. Or that I’ve betrayed him. Though I know I can talk him out of such thoughts so I’m not too worried.
