Chapter four

I didn't know when it was pouring rain outside the window, I did bring an umbrella, but that small umbrella of mine could hardly withstand such heavy wind and rain. After thinking for a while, I decided to stay here until the rain stopped and then take the bus back.

Matthew's act was very fast.

When Brian put the marriage agreement in front of me, waiting for me to sign. I still felt surprised and could not believe my eyes.

I was going to get married? Married to a billionaire, a billionaire I was only known for over a month.

I looked at the contract carefully, my hand trembled slightly, but then I resolutely signed the contract without any more hesitation.

“Do you need more time to think?” Before I signed the contract, Matthew asked me.

"If I don't marry you, will you agree to give me the salary advance or lend me money?" I turned to him, eyes wide, waiting for an answer.

Matthew shook his head.

I smiled slightly and then signed the contract emphatically.

Based on the contract, Although the marriage between I and Matthew was only a contract marriage, it was still a legal marriage. We would divorced after we had a child. After we divorced, Matthew wouldn't stop me from visiting my child.

If I had any other choice, I would definitely not choose to bet my life but this was the only way I could do to earn enough money to pay my tuition fees.

Even if I wouldn't love me in the end, I didn't lose everything. I still had a bright future ahead of me.

If I didn't sign this contract, I would have had to wait one more year. A year was not long but also not short, in that one year there were so many unexpected things that could happen. A year later, new situations might arise and that would prevent me from going back to school.

Everything happened in this life for a reason, perhaps years later I would feel happy when I looked back at those difficult times. Marrying Matthew would definitely change my life. But my life was at its worst so it could only get better.

Seeing the smile on my lips, Matthew felt a little uncomfortable. He gave me one copy of the contract and told Brain to put the other away. Waiting for both of us to take the contract away, and then he continued, “You can move in with me when you have time. About the marriage certificate, you and I will go to register it in a few days, and then I will take you home to meet my family."

Your family? I had met his mother before, she was a gentle person who always treated workers gently. But I was not sure if she would like a daughter-in-law like me?

“Does anyone in your family know our marriage is just a contract marriage?” I asked.

"No." Matthew shook his head, “My parents think I'm madly in love with my ex, so marrying you is not just for company leaders to see but also for my parents.”

"It's a little fast. Can I move in with you later?" I made an offer, hoping that he would accept it.

Although I had to move in with him sooner or later, I still didn't know how to explain it to my stepmother and younger brother.

Although my stepmother was not too close to me and my younger brother was still very young, they had no right to stop me, but above all they were still my family, I didn't want them to know about the contract marriage.

We just signed the contract and lived together, was it too fast?

I was just a young girl trying to study everyday, but I was not a naive child who knew nothing. When a man and a woman lived together, there were many things that couldn't be avoided but I still needed time to adapt.

Right now, I feel both excited and scared at the same time.

When it stopped raining outside, I prepared to leave. Before leaving, I did not forget to greet my soon-to-be husband.

"I'll go home." I said.

I thought when he heard me say that,  he just nodded and let me go. What I didn't expect was that Matthew immediately called me back.

"Come here." He said, making a gesture of reaching out to invite me to come closer to him.

I awkwardly walked towards him.

Realizing that he had something to say to me, I asked, “Mr. Brown, do you want to say anything to me?"

Matthew opened his eyes, looking at me intently.

I also opened my eyes wider, silently waiting for him to speak.

"I don't think a wife would call her husband "Mr. Brown". You need to change the way you address to avoid suspicions."

“I got it.” I nodded in agreement, “Then I'll call you Matthew.”

I called his name many times in my dreams, this was the first time I called him Matthew in front of him.

"Let Brian take you home, from today if you want to go anywhere you can ask Brain to take you home or drive my car."

I nodded as if I understood.

Matthew looked over at Brain and said, "Brain, please take Laura home."

I was a bit surprised. My heart beat a little fast when he said my name.

Brain nodded and quickly went downstairs.

"I'll go first!" I told Matthew and quickly followed Brain.

Although my marriage with Matthew was only a contract marriage, in my heart I was still extremely nervous. I never thought about getting married, or even falling in love before. Every day I had to work at the shop until 10 pm. There was a little time for me to study and of course no time for love. I never thought that one day I would suddenly get married in this way.

I encouraged myself that my life would get better. No need to worry at all, I had solved the money problem, other problems could be solved later.

A bright future was still ahead of me.
