The longer I looked up at the woman’s face, the more I began to picture her in a younger state, that woman was the one person when I would lay awake in my little bed at night shaking from fear of monsters, I would cry out for. The person who would walk into my room with her smile and bundle me up tight, telling me I was safe, and I had nothing to worry about. I was now in her arms again and for that split second, I began to feel the same way I did when I was too young to understand.
