POV BRIAR

The respect of a war pack is not inherited in a will, it is seized by the one who knows exactly where the enemy bleeds.

The moment the great hall doors swung shut behind Kenneth’s terrified footsteps, the atmosphere did not soften, it tightened, drawn taut as a bowstring ready to fly. Drakor’s veteran commanders were no palace courtiers. These were men with scars across their throats and eyes that weighed a body before they shifted their stance. To them, the scene with the messenger had been a fine display, but spectacle did not win a winter campaign.

"A Moon Wolf does not breach palisades with poetry, Your Majesty," the gravelly voice belonged to General Varek, a grizzled lycan whose left arm was crisscrossed with silver burn scars. "If we march south before the thaw, we risk being trapped in the Willow Gorge. Silvercrest holds three fire-battery towers along the eastern ridge. We cannot walk blindly into this, not on the word of a girl from the south."

Several officers rumbled in agreement. Lady Vane, standing near the shadowed archways, watched with a cold little smile, feeding on the mist beginning to curl through the room.

I stepped forward before Malakar could draw steel to silence them.

"Silvercrest does not have three batteries in the east, General," I said, my tone slicing through the murmur like a freshly honed blade. "They have two. And the second one has been dead for three winters, Garrick’s father siphoned the repair funds to buy off the Clan Council."

Varek narrowed his cloudy eyes, caught off guard by the precision of my answer.

I walked to the great stone table at the center of the room, where a carved relief map of the continent lay spread out. Wooden troop markers stood scattered across it. I rested my palms on the cool stone edge, aware of Malakar’s gaze warm and heavy at my back, watching, trusting, giving me the space to claim my ground.

"You plan to strike the main Grey River bridge," I continued, tracing a blue crack in the wood with my finger. "It is the obvious route. Which is exactly where Garrick has posted his best trackers to wait in the mist. But there is something else, an old drainage sluice beneath my family’s distillery cellars. It opens only from the outside, with a three-notch pressure key. It is not on your maps."

I lifted my chin and met the old general’s gaze straight on.

"I can lead fifty of your best infiltrators straight into the Alpha’s kitchen courtyard without tripping a single perimeter alarm. I know every tunnel, every bribed guard, every shift change across that compound. I ran their supply logistics for four years while my sister tried on gowns and Garrick got drunk with the elders to feel important."

The silence that followed was absolute.

Varek leaned over the map. His eyes traced the terrain lines, recalculating distances, angles, timing, rewriting his entire plan in seconds. Then the seasoned warrior straightened, looked me full in the face, and brought his fist firm against his chest plate.

"If that sluice is real, my Queen, half of Silvercrest will fall before the first war howl echoes."

A low murmur of approval rippled through the captains. Malakar stepped to the table and rested one massive hand upon my shoulder. His heat seeped through the crimson velvet, steadying the wolf within me.

"You have your orders," the King declared, his golden gaze sweeping the assembly. "Mount up. Vanguard units ready. We leave in forty-eight hours. Clear the room."

The officers bowed and filed out, the heavy thud of their boots fading down the stone corridors until only silence remained.

Then the soft rustle of silk alerted me.

Lady Vane stepped slowly from the shadows, carrying a small silver tray holding two crystal goblets filled with a thick, golden liquid that shimmered like honey. Her face bore perfect, practiced deference, so smooth it looked like a wax mask.

"A most impressive display, my Lady," Vane said, bowing her head, though her grey eyes stayed cold. "Drakor has clearly underestimated you. As a pledge of my house’s loyalty, let me offer you the first cup of serba wine. An ancient tradition, drunk by those who lead our armies to victory."

Malakar frowned, stepping forward, his jaw set hard with distrust.

"Vane, your attentions are not required tonight."

"Only courtesy, my Lord," she insisted, taking one step closer to me, holding the goblet out with both hands. "A blessing for the battles ahead."

I looked at the wine. It seemed innocent enough, glowing amber in the torchlight.

But my wolf was no longer chained. My senses were no longer dulled by poison and submission.

The moment that crystal cup came within arm’s reach, something faint hit my nose, a bitter, almost imperceptible scent, like crushed peach kernel mixed with dark ivy sap. It would not kill outright. But it would steal my voice, paralyze my tongue, and drain my strength just long enough to silence a Moon Wolf before she had truly risen.

My wolf rumbled deep inside my chest, baring phantom fangs.

I lifted my hand slowly, reaching as if to take the stem. Vane held her breath, a tiny, vicious glint flashing in her grey pupils.

My fingers closed not around the glass, but around her wrist, fast and unyielding as a steel trap snapping shut.

The tray wobbled in shock. She choked back a cry as my nails, sharpened by my golden magic, pricked into the tendons of her wrist.

"How thoughtful of you, Lady Vane," I whispered, leaning close enough that she could see the fire burning in my eyes. "But I learned a very expensive lesson in Silvercrest, never drink from someone who smiles while pouring the cup."

Color drained completely from her face.

"I-I do not know what you mean, this is outrageous…" she stammered, tugging uselessly against my grip.

"Marsh ivy extract," I murmured, tightening just enough to make her bones creak. "Sweet on the nose, bitter on the swallow. One cup and you lose your voice and your strength for a moon-cycle. Very convenient, no one would believe a word you spoke after that."

I nodded toward the goblet trembling in her other hand.

"If this is truly your house’s blessing, you drink it first."

Lady Vane’s jaw began to shake uncontrollably. Her eyes widened in pure terror as Malakar stepped behind her, his immense shadow swallowing her whole, judgment falling silent and inevitable.

  • Swapping My Cheating Alpha for the Lycan King    Fire in the Shadows

POV BRIARThe heaviest armor in the world cannot hide the wounds that never bleed to the surface. Sometimes the things that hurt the most are the ones no one else can see.The march south allowed no truce. For ten unbroken hours I rode beside Malakar at the head of the vanguard, enduring a biting cold drizzle that seeped through the joints of my armor, and thick mud that slowed even the surest warhorses to a weary crawl. Varek had offered me a covered litter before we crossed the Gorge of Souls, but I had refused without a moment's hesitation. If his warriors walked through the storm on foot, their Queen would not hide behind silk curtains like some frightened noblewoman. Every mile we covered felt like a quiet test of endurance, yet when night finally fell across the High Pines plateau, my body demanded payment for every step I had pushed through. The camp rose around us with the relentless discipline of the north. Hundreds of conical leather tents appeared like dark mushrooms among

  • Swapping My Cheating Alpha for the Lycan King   Stain Upon One's Hands

POV BRIARSwapping My Cheating Alpha for the Lycan KingIt takes barely a few seconds to end a man's life, but that heavy metallic scent of blood seems to cling to your skin, beneath your fingernails, deep within your conscience, long after everything is done. It does not wash away like ordinary dirt. It feels like an invisible mark, reminding you at every single moment of what you have just done. The lower courtyard fell completely silent once the sentries marched off to their posts. I stood alone among the footprints pressed into the snow, listening to the wind howl through the narrow slits in the stone walls. I climbed the spiral staircase slowly, without hurry, feeling as though every step weighed heavier than the last. I did not wait for Malakar to walk beside me. I needed to be by myself, even if only for a few minutes, just to understand what I was feeling. I pulled the heavy oak door shut behind me, yet I did not slide the bolt into place because deep down I knew I did not tru

  • Swapping My Cheating Alpha for the Lycan King   Stain Upon One's Hands

POV BRIARIt takes exactly three seconds to cut a man down, but the metallic tang of his blood lingers beneath your fingernails for days afterward, no matter how hard you scrub. The lower courtyard emptied as the sentries marched away, leaving me standing alone with nothing but the wind whistling through the fortress arrow slits. I climbed the three winding flights of stone steps up to the north tower chambers without waiting for Malakar, my steps heavy and slow, while a cold hollow feeling settled deep in the pit of my stomach. I pushed open the heavy oak door and stepped inside, shutting it firmly behind me without bothering to slide the bolt into place. The room was still warm from the fire that crackled and popped in the hearth, burning low but steady from the night before, yet I felt cold right through. A faint, trembling shiver started deep in my knees and traveled upward along my arms all the way to my fingertips, restless and aching. I walked over to the white porcelain washba

  • Swapping My Cheating Alpha for the Lycan King   Dance of Fangs

POV BRIARWhen you send men to slip into a queen's room and end her life while she sleeps, you had better make certain her king is truly asleep. Because what waits for you on the other side of that door may be far more dangerous than any knife you carry hidden beneath your coat. The lower courtyard smelled of frost, damp ash and fresh blood. The early morning snow had been trampled and stained dark where two attackers lay still beneath Drakor's sentries. The air bit deep into the lungs, sharp as a blade, yet the mating mark throbbed warm and steady on the left side of my neck, burning bright enough to keep every part of me alive and alert.Malakar walked at my side. He wore no heavy armor, only his dark leather trousers, his worn campaign boots and an unbuttoned black shirt that revealed the scratches my own nails had left along his shoulders only hours before. In his right hand rested his greatsword, its tip scraping the stone paving with a slow, lethal rhythm. We approached the last

  • Swapping My Cheating Alpha for the Lycan King   Mark of Shadows

POV BRIARThere are touches that do not merely seek to pleasure you, but instead reach to heal every scar someone else left behind, as if someone is finally saying that every wound deserves to be cherished rather than forgotten. The thick, cool oak door pressed against my back, yet Malakar's body burned so warmly against mine that I soon forgot we were even inside a room. His breath smelled of burning cedar and crisp mountain air, and whenever he drew near, it felt as though the entire world narrowed down to just the two of us. Firelight danced softly on the stone walls, casting our shadows tangled together, and for the first time in my life I felt no fear and no shame. With Garrick, every moment of closeness had felt cold and obliging, as if I were something he endured rather than desired. He always expected me to stay still, to be quiet, to be perfect, and the moment he was finished he would pull away as if my presence bothered him. With Malakar, everything was different. With him I

  • Swapping My Cheating Alpha for the Lycan King   The Insolent One's Cup

POV BRIARThere are males who sense a female's power and instead of bowing, foolishly mistake her composure for an invitation. They do not understand that a queen's calm is not weakness, it simply means she has not yet decided how much of her strength she needs to reveal. The Great Hall of Obsidian hummed with a thick, heavy atmosphere, rich with the scent of juniper smoke roasting meat, spiced dark ale, and the wild pheromones of two hundred lycans celebrating the victory won along the southern border. This was no stiff, courtly dinner filled with polite lies. This was a war feast. At the long stone tables, the leaders of Drakor's seven clans tore into ribs with bare hands, clashed tin mugs together, and spoke plainly about dividing the newly won outposts.I sat upon the dais, at Malakar's right hand, exactly where I belonged. I wore a deep emerald velvet gown with a square neckline that framed the pale crescent moon mark glowing softly above my collarbone. My dark hair fell loose an
