Chapter 8

作者: Fresh Veg
Frederick even changed the password on his phone to keep me out. We had a massive fight over it and ended up sleeping in separate rooms.

Since I couldn't get what I wanted from him, I redirected my efforts toward Beatrice instead.

The hacker got me Beatrice's phone number. I called her directly. "Let's meet. I want to talk about Frederick."

A mistress could never stay calm when confronted by the wife. My tone set her off immediately, and she stormed toward me, fuming. "Let me make this clear! You're the loser here—you'll never have his love. Fred is already getting the divorce ready. When that happens, you'll get nothing and have to slink away.

"Don't get cocky. You're only Mrs. Shaw for now. In less than six months, you'll be nothing."

Beatrice was eager to prove she was the one Frederick truly loved, so she immediately set about flaunting their relationship. She really was a foolish woman.

I stirred my coffee, putting on a pitiful act like I couldn't give up the title of Mrs.

I let out a cold laugh and asked, "Are you really sure this video was just found online? Or did you actually hire someone to fake it?"A flicker of panic crossed Frederick's eyes. He hurriedly snapped back, "What are you implying? Stop twisting things! It's obvious you cheated. The evidence is right there, so don't even try to deny it!"The next moment, I uploaded the recording from my cafe meeting with Samuel. "Frederick, you were the one drugging me and using Samuel to try to seduce me. You faked this evidence, and the recording proves it—nothing ever happened between Samuel and me. This so-called proof is completely fake. "Stop playing the victim—you're the real cheater. You've been transferring money to Beatrice and scheming to leave me with nothing. "Every dollar I gave you to help with your business is accounted for, and I want it all back!"I also released photos from the traffic records showing him with Beatrice at various locations.Frederick kept trying to wriggle out o

How stupid of me to think that it was my fault, that I had been reckless, and that I felt guilty enough to think I had to make it up to him! Frederick was the one who should be left with nothing, despised by everyone—not me.I knew exactly what came next. I had to find proof of Frederick's betrayal, hire a lawyer, and file for divorce. I refused to be the one left with nothing.…Frederick's business trips were usually to Brandfort, a neighboring city just over 60 miles away. He always drove there himself. That meant the best place to catch him was in his car.I made an excuse, telling him my car was in the shop for maintenance and that I would be using his for the next few days. Frederick hesitated at first, but then his phone rang. He rushed off to answer it and immediately agreed. On the other end of the phone, I recognized a woman's voice—the same woman Samuel had said Frederick was seeing. The way he cajoled her so carefully disgusted me. Honestly, I should be the one

Samuel turned to leave, and I stopped him cold. "If you walk away now, I will go to your counselor and talk to them about this in person."He froze, then sighed in defeat. "Can we not talk about this on campus? Let's go outside. I will tell you everything you want to know."I picked a nearby cafe and asked the question that had been burning in my mind. "How did you meet my husband? And why did you suddenly do something like that to me at the gym yesterday? I suggest you tell me the truth, because I have already seen the chat records between you and my husband."Samuel was so nervous that he was trembling. Faced with my firm stance, he didn't dare to hide anything. "I'm innocent. Your husband was the one who posted a part-time job on the campus board. How was I supposed to know it was something like this? He offered ten thousand dollars. That kind of money would tempt anyone, right?"We didn't actually do anything. He just wanted me to fake evidence of you cheating and give it to

Frederick's slight frown caught my eye, as if the name "Samuel" was completely unfamiliar to him. "Why are you acting so infatuated even though you're married? If you think he's good, just go more often. Maybe he'll even give you a discount."Was Frederick really encouraging me to spend time with Samuel? He was my husband, and yet he didn't show even the slightest hint of jealousy or possessiveness.A pang of disappointment hit me, and I lowered my eyes. "Fine, if you say so. Don't blame me if I get close to him and leave you," I said with a sigh.Frederick didn't respond, so I turned slightly to see what he was doing. That was when I saw him sending a message to Samuel. "Did you get the evidence? You have one day at most. Send it to me immediately. I can't wait another day."He knew Samuel, so why put on a show as if he didn't?Just as I was about to ask, I saw him sending another message to his lawyer. "Draw up a divorce agreement. I want her to walk away with nothing."The l

Just at that critical moment, the gym door suddenly swung open."James isn't here? Why are there only two clients?"It was the gym owner, Renold Cole.I quickly ended the call, shoved Samuel aside, and hurriedly dressed, trying to act as if nothing had happened. I kept my head down and rushed toward the door. "Sam, I'm leaving first!"Back home, my face burned with embarrassment, and I couldn't even bear to look at anyone. My mind kept replaying what had just happened at the gym. What had I done? I had almost done something that would betray Frederick!Frederick didn't spend much time with me, but he had always been generous with money. Every time I saw him come home exhausted, I felt so guilty, knowing it was all for our family. And yet, I had almost lost control and done something unforgivable. Thankfully, Renold had barged in, or tonight would have been a disaster.I remembered Frederick saying over the phone that he would be home tonight. Guilt gnawed at me over what ha
