Liam’s POV

The second I stepped out of my father’s study, my phone buzzed.

Avery: We’re going out. Dress well. 😘

No further context. No explanation. Just her usual brand of confident command.

And I couldn’t exactly say no.

Not after this morning.

Not after waking up in his bed, fully clothed, fully guilty—with a shirtless Jackson standing too close while I scrambled for excuses like a panicked teen.

I sighed, adjusted my shirt collar, and moved through the marble foyer like a soldier marching to war.

I didn't expect the war to be waiting by the car.

“You’ve got to be shitting me.”

Jackson was leaning against the SUV like a man in a cologne ad—tight black jeans hugging his thighs, a loose white shirt unbuttoned just enough to show the trail of sin leading beneath.

And that grin.

That insufferable, cocky, I-know-what-your-moans-sound-like grin.

“You’re late, lover boy,” he said, pushing off the car like he had every right to be here.

Avery stepped out from the other side of the vehicle

Jackson’s POVI was just buttoning up my shirt, the aftertaste of this morning still lingering on my lips—Liam’s skin, the tremble in his voice, the way he looked at me like he was starving for something he couldn’t name—when the door opened again.Avery.Perfect timing. Her brows were furrowed, arms folded tight across her chest like she was ready to launch into war."You’re really enjoying this, aren’t you?" she snapped.I raised a brow, casually rolling my sleeves up. "Good afternoon to you too, sister. What brings you storming into my room like the board voted you queen?""Cut the bullshit, Jackson," she hissed. "What was Liam doing in your room?"I smiled lazily. "What do you think he was doing?"She didn’t flinch, but her eyes sharpened. "You’re playing a dangerous game. You don’t even care about business. So why the sudden interest in all this? In him? Are you trying to confuse him of marrying me because you have never wanted me bigger than you? Are you?"I walked toward her sl

Liam’s POVThe shirt was starched and crisp. My tie too tight. I had spent twenty minutes trying to tame my hair into something respectable, and another ten convincing myself that I could act like nothing happened last night. That I hadn’t moaned out Jackson Maddox’s name into a pillow like a desperate fool. That I hadn’t let his hands ruin me in ways no man had ever done before.I’d just reached for my wristwatch when the door creaked open."Good morning, sir." It was the maid, Clara, if I remembered correctly. She paused immediately at the sight of Jackson, who stood near the dresser with nothing on but low-hanging sweatpants, his broad chest on full display and a lazy grin playing on his lips.Clara’s eyes widened. Mine narrowed."Sorry, I didn’t know you had company," she said, her voice trying to stay neutral, but the pink flushing her cheeks betrayed her.I cleared my throat stiffly. "We were just talking about—uh—West Ark logistics." I pulled away from the window, trying to ke

Not from alcohol—no, from something worse. From pretending. From surviving that goddamn kiss.Avery had smiled against my lips like everything was perfect. And Jackson had watched—shoulders stiff, jaw set, his eyes darker than I’d ever seen them. But I kissed her anyway. I kissed her hard, hoping it would fix something broken in me.It didn’t.It just made it worse. The door creaked open. I didn’t move. Maybe if I stayed still, I could disappear.“Liam,” Avery called gently. “Breakfast is almost ready. Come downstairs, okay?”She didn’t wait for a reply. She just

I let her lead me upstairs, my chest hollow. We got inside my bedroom. She closed the door behind us.Then she turned around—smiling, blushing, hopeful.“I’ve waited all day to be alone with you,” she whispered.I couldn’t meet her eyes. Not fully. She cupped my face with both hands and kissed me softly. I didn’t move. Not at first. My lips were dry. My breath stuck halfway in my throat. But she didn’t care. Her hands slipped down, fingers tracing my chest through my shirt. She kissed my neck, my jawline, her touch growing bolder.

His collar hung loose, his tie crooked, and his expression raw.I turned to him slowly, still reeling from the heat of his confession.Jackson wanted to me from Avery.
