Third Person's POV

The afternoon light filtered through the mansion's windows like honey through gauze, casting long shadows across the marble floors.

Avery sat in her bedroom, staring at her reflection in the vanity mirror, a woman she barely recognized anymore.

"Ma'am?" Viviana's voice came softly from the doorway, carrying the careful tone she used when delivering potentially unwelcome news.

"Who?" Avery asked, turning away from her haunted reflection. "Who are you talking about?"

"Jackson Maddox, your brother, is here. He's waiting downstairs to meet with you," Viviana replied, her hands clasped in front of her starched apron.

The words hit Avery like ice water. Of all the people she never expected to see again, Jackson topped the list. After yesterday's revelations, after the betrayal that had shattered her world into unrepairable pieces, here he was , showing up at her house.

"This is unexpected," Avery whispered, more to herself than to Viviana.

Chapter 062: Good News or Bad NewsThird Person's POVAvery sat across from him, her hands trembling slightly as she recounted her encounter with Jackson."Jackson came at me with questions," Avery said, her voice bitter as a winter wind. "Questions he had no business knowing the answers to. But he said he knew that the pregnancy wasn't Liam's.""No... No, he didn't know anything for certain," Mr. Astor Sinclair replied, his tone carrying the forced boldness of a man trying to convince himself as much as her.Avery looked at him with eyes that had seen too much betrayal in too short a time. She let out a breath that seemed to carry the weight of her crumbling world."I know I shouldn't have panicked the way I did. But I couldn't help it," she continued. "When Viviana came to tell me Jackson was at the house this morning, my first thought was: what on earth was he doing there after betraying our family and dragging our name through the mud?"She stood up and walked to the window, looki

Third Person's POVUptown The late afternoon sun is hotter as Liam parked his silver Camry outside what had once been the Grand Vista Hotel. Now it looked more like a monument to better times that would never return. The building's faded brick showed years of neglect. Paint peeled from window frames like old skin, and several of the letters in the hotel sign had burned out long ago, leaving only "G_and _ist_ Hot_l" weakly against the sky."This place looks like it's been forgotten by the world," Liam muttered to himself as he walked toward the entrance. The lobby smelled of old carpet and dreams that had died slow deaths. Behind the reception desk sat an elderly woman with silver hair pulled back in a neat bun. Her clothes were clean but worn, and her eyes carried the weight of someone who had seen too much disappointment."Hello, mister. Please, how can I help you today?" the woman asked, her voice carrying a slight accent that suggested she had come from somewhere else many years a

Third Person's POVMr. Astor Sinclair's Office - AfternoonThe desk shines brightly under the afternoon light streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows. Mr. Astor Sinclair sat behind it like a king defending his throne, one hand holding his phone, the other typing rapidly on his computer keyboard."Come on, you don't have to end our business relationship," Astor said into his phone, his voice carrying the desperate edge of a man fighting to save his empire. "I told you I will fix this situation, and when I say I'll fix something, I deliver on my promise."He paused, listening to the voice on the other end."No... no... yes, the interview was real. I disowned my son because of his disgusting behavior. But you can still count on Sinclair Corporation for the international contract. We will execute it better than anyone else in the market."Another pause, this one longer."Oh, you're willing to give us another chance? Yes... yes... thank you so much. I'll be waiting for the contract to b

Third Person's POVAvery's Bedroom - Early MorningThe morning light crept through the silk curtains like an unwelcome intruder, Empty vodka bottle on the nightstand. Mascara-stained pillowcases. The acrid smell of despair mixed with expensive perfume.Avery's eyes fluttered open, immediately squeezed shut again as pain shot through her skull like lightning. The hangover felt like divine punishment for the crime of existing in a world that had turned upside down overnight."Ma'am?" Viviana's gentle voice floated from the doorway like a prayer offered to a broken saint. The relationship between them had shifted imperceptibly. Where once there had been simple employer and employee dynamics, now there existed the delicate dance between someone drowning and someone trying to throw a life preserver without getting pulled under themselves.Avery lifted her head, immediately regretting the movement as the room spun like a carnival ride designed by sadists. "Viviana, you're already here?""It

Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the city lights that twinkled like fallen stars scattered across black velvet. But Liam wasn't looking at the beauty outside. He sat hunched on the leather couch at nine thirty-four PM, the glow from his laptop screen casting harsh shadows across his face. The news websites displayed his most intimate moments like trophies in a museum of shame. Video thumbnails and photographs that should have been private were now public entertainment. The irony wasn't lost on him.
