Chapter 16: Misunderstanding

Each beat of my heart is pounding loudly as I stare directly at Josh. I can't believe he's right in front of me now.

"So, that's it. You said you wouldn't come because you didn't want to see me," Josh said, his tone filled with disappointment.

I swallowed and quickly tried to explain, "It's not like that, Josh—" But he immediately cut me off.

"Okay," he said, his eyes filled with disappointment. Then he began walking past me towards the restaurant exit. My feet automatically moved, and I quickly followed him outside.

"Josh, wait!" I shouted loudly, making him stop in his tracks. I hurriedly went in front of him to face him. He had to stoop down a bit because he's so tall for me. "Josh, let me explain. The truth is, I really came here to see you—" I was silenced again as he grinned at me as if telling me that what I was saying was unbelievable.
