Chapter 2

Author: Perfect Timing
Dad did not care about his uniform anymore. He ran with me to the police station as if he had seen a ghost.

"This kid's lost. Find her parents, quick!"

Half an hour later, Dad walked out of the police station looking totally lost. The police had checked for a long time. Finally, they told him I was his kid.

"Where in the world did you come from?!" Even a tough guy like my dad had a meltdown during his younger days.

I sipped the milk the policewoman gave me and just giggled. "Dad, I came from your middle login. You probably won't remember me."

The system wished it had never given internet access. "I should never have let you go online!"

Dad was puzzled by the terms 'old login' and 'middle login'. He scrunched up his face, ready to ask more, but a loud honk cut him off.

The car door swung open, and Dad got a stinging slap across his face. The sound of the slap rang out loud and clear.

"How could you, Elliot? You're not even a grown-up yet, and you've already got a granddaughter for me. What will people think of the Smith family now?!" Dad's father, Yale Smith, was fuming, his chest rising and falling with anger.

"Dad!" I cried out, my voice filled with worry for Dad.

Julia Porter, dressed to the nines, smiled, but her words were dripping with irony. "Elly, the child's already so big? Does that mean you were just 14 when you got a girl pregnant?"

Dad's expression turned dark as a storm cloud, his eyes red with fury. He asked in a rough voice, "Who said you could call me what my mom did?! My mom's not even in her grave yet, and you're already trying to replace her, aren't you?!"

The system said, "It's over, kiddo. The villain's darkening level has hit 100%."

I did not know what it meant to be completely villainous. All I knew was that Dad was heartbroken and furious! He was like a wild animal pushed to the edge.

Julia looked scared, quickly moving closer to Grandpa. "Honey, if the child dislikes me this much, maybe I should just go..."

Grandpa, already a volcano of anger, turned even redder. "She's my wife and your elder! How can you talk to your own mother that way?!"

He lifted his hand, ready to slap Dad once more.

I dashed forward and stomped on his foot. "You can't treat my dad like this!!"

Grandpa stopped, crying out in pain.

The system said, "Yale was already in a really bad mood to begin with... Kiddo, you're definitely... the perfect villain's daughter."

Even though I was much shorter than Dad, only reaching his knees, I still reached out my hand and tried my best to shield him.

"Dad, don't worry. I'll protect you!"

His eyelashes fluttered, and his body shook for just a second. After a bit, he could not help but sigh softly. "Silly girl..."

"Kiddo, the villain's darkening level has dropped from 100% to 70%!" The system's words made me let out a relieved breath.

Maybe this meant Dad was feeling a little better?

Before I could figure it out, Grandpa's face turned stormy because he felt embarrassed. He finally turned his attention to me.

"So, you're the little troublemaker, huh?! Coming after our Smith family… Did your mom put you up to this?!"

He was so angry that he wanted to pull my hair. However, Dad stepped in front of me. He touched his cheek and laughed calmly, "Oh, so it's fine for you to bring home a secret child and a girlfriend right after my mom passed away. But I can't have a daughter?

"Starting a fight with a kid right in front of the police station, is that how the Smiths act?"

Seeing Dad stand his ground, Grandpa was furious.

"Elliot, you're brave, aren't you? If you can't accept Julia, then leave the Smith family. From this day onward, don't you dare take a dime from me! Do you really think it's easy to raise a kid?!"

The system said, "Kiddo, the Smith family got rich because of your grandma, but she's gone now, and Grandpa's changed her will. He wants to kick your dad out and take everything for himself! Your dad will end up with no place to live, nothing to eat…"

I watched as Dad was about to say yes just to spite him. I sprang up quickly and clapped my hand over his mouth. "We won't leave! If anyone's leaving, it's you! Oh, Mr. Rich Guy snagged someone else's stuff and thinks he can provide for his lover and illegitimate kid with stolen goods!"

After I finished speaking, I covered my mouth with one hand. "I won't talk anymore."

I bit my tongue to keep the fear at bay."He'd pick me. A million times over, he'd pick me!""You really think so?" Chester sneered."I know so. I'm not like you, crawling around like rats in the sewers. The best thing my dad ever did was to keep us away from crazy people like you. Who knew, maybe craziness could spread?"Ever since Elliot Company started selling shares to the public, Dad ruined all the ways they had to make money. He kicked them out of their big house and said they could not work with the Smith family's friends anymore.Julia's social media account, where she had finally gotten a lot of followers, was shut down by him.Hence, the three of them could only find small, random jobs. Every single day was just so hard for them. Zara only got her job because Chester had put her there. However, Dad did not fall for any of their tricks. Their loan payments were due soon, and they owed a big sum. They had to do something drastic for money. My teasing made Chester, who

I was super worried that Zara had her sights set on Dad.Every day when classes were over, I would sprint to the office. I kept a close watch on Zara.Dad noticed and quirked an eyebrow at me. "What's up?""Dad, are you gonna get me a new mom?"He nearly spat out his water. "How can I find you a new mom when I don't even know who your real mom is?"Right then, Zara accidentally splashed coffee all over him.Dad quickly shielded me, and once he saw I was okay, he glared at her with a stormy look."I'm so sorry, Mr. Smith. It was an accident..."Oh no, it was just like one of those scenes in those romance books with the domineering CEOs as the male leads. The big-shot CEO would usually scoop up the lady and tease her, "What's your plan to make it up to me?"Then... well, you know.Oops, I said that out loud.Dad's eye gave a little twitch. He covered my mouth and said in a frosty voice, "That suit is 4,500 dollars. Go see Mr. Charlton about paying for it. And the company seal

Years passed, and Dad's company grew bigger and bigger as they expanded to other countries. He did not look like a kid anymore. Wearing a neat suit, he looked really cool. However, he still got that angry vein on his forehead whenever I made him mad, and he still looked like he wanted to give me a time-out.I thought life would stay nice and calm. However, when Dad finished college, he hired a new secretary named Zara. That was when the old system I had started speaking up again."Kiddo! The heroine is one of Elliot's unlucky triggers! His darkening level is finally down to 5%! Don't let her mess with it! After Elliot got kicked out, Zara helped him for a bit. He thought she was his hero, and he did anything she said, even really bad stuff."To make Zara look good, he even took someone else's work. If she wanted something, he'd get it for her, no matter what. Zara liked getting things, but then she'd say Elliot was being sneaky."I glanced at the system and frowned.I was seven a

As for me, Remy, I became a famous little kid at the city kindergarten! On my first day of kindergarten, Dad had big bags under his eyes, and every five minutes, he would ask his assistant, "What if my daughter gets picked on? Is the lawyer ready? There aren't any little bullies in kindergarten, right?"Does class really end at 4:00 pm? What if my daughter cries because she misses me?"His assistant started off cool and collected. However, later, he said carefully, "Mr. Smith, if you don't want to send Ms. Smith to kindergarten, she can stay with you for a few more years.""No way." Dad snorted. "She's been driving me nuts. Kindergarten is the best place for her!"The past year, Dad had to bring me to work so he would not fall behind. He made me feel super safe and sound. I could sprawl out anywhere in his big office. During meetings, I would munch on chips right next to him.I would call out to him just because I could. Everyone at work was super nice to me too. However, he woul

In the end, Dad covered my mouth and took me to the hospital to get my head checked. As the doctor fixed me up, I drifted off to sleep. I felt like I was back 20 years later, when Dad was icy and dark—a fierce guy who made tough calls without flinching. He was a man who could handle anything, whether it was right or wrong. For Zara, he would go to the ends of the earth.Everyone else might have been scared of him, but not me. Even though Zara once said he did not like me, he never kicked me out. He never hit me or yelled at me. He made sure I had more than a dozen nannies and servants to take care of me, as well as the best teacher ever to give me lessons at home.Whenever I fell asleep on the couch, I would wake up cozy under a blanket from his room.Dad was a man of few words but lots of action.Hence, when he sent me away one day, I just could not believe it.While he was not looking, I used my smartwatch to find Dad's location. By the time I got there, a man had thrown a da

"Turn it off, turn it off! Why is this showing?! It's all fake. Someone edited this!" Grandpa tried to block the screen with his body. The workers were hitting the buttons so hard, trying to stop the video, but it just would not quit. The guests, who were just getting started, all froze. In the video, Dad's words were so sad. "You brought your girlfriend home before you even buried Mom's ashes?!" Dad's question got him a loud slap in return."That's way too harsh...""After all, the Smith family got rich because of Elliot's mom. That's just not right.""If I were Elliot, I'd be even tougher on Julia."The guests were all nodding and whispering at that moment.Julia and Grandpa tried to say something, but then the cops burst in. "Mr. Smith, you're in trouble for messing with the will. You need to come with us."His eyes went wide, and he stammered, "O-Officer, there's been a mistake..."The police slapped handcuffs on him.
