Crystal's POV

The room was silent. As silent as a graveyard. I looked around. Everybody was mute. All their eyes fixed on Adrian. They were all holding their breaths, waiting for a reaction from him.

TCh. How scary could one man be? And all these elders couldn't even breath in his presence? It was stupid.

I looked at him, also waiting for his response. He simply looked back at me with lifeless eyes.

Then he chuckled.

Chuckled? What did he think this was? A joke? I was being serious here!

"What's funny?" I asked him. I failed to find what was amusing.

"I don't remember asking you for your choice in the matter. That's what's amusing to me. I don't remember giving you the opportunity to reject me" he said in his signature calm and low voice.

"Well, I do not want to be your mate! I reject you! You don't have to give me the opportunity or whatever. I do not want you as my mate!" I fired.

I was riled up.

He chuckled. Then he smirked and looked at me. "Really?"
