Adrian's POV

I sat behind my desk, the neatly stacked documents in front of me requiring my signature. I picked up my phone and tapped Liam’s number.

“Liam, come to my office,” l told him the moment the call connected, his tone calm but carrying an unmistakable edge.

There was a pause on the other end. “Now?” Liam’s voice sounded reluctant, almost wary.

“Yes, now,” l replied bluntly. “We need to settle this business deal once and for all.”

Minutes later, Liam walked in, trying to look confident, though l could see the hesitation in his stance. He stopped by the desk, shifting uncomfortably.

“I’ll sign the document regarding the deal with Anna’s father,” I said, my eyes fixed on him, “but there are conditions.”

Liam raised an eyebrow. “Conditions?”

“You will be the one to announce this during the board meeting,” I informed him, my voice flat, leaving no room for argument. “I want zero involvement in the discussions, presentations, or negotiations. You handle all interactions with them

  • TANGLED BETWEEN BROTHERS    Chapter Thirty-Five

Nicole’s POVI didn’t even plan it.One minute I was standing outside, watching Liam’s car disappear down the street, telling myself to breathe and calm down. The next minute, I was turning back toward the house, my steps fast and angry, my heart pounding too hard in my chest.I pushed the door open.Adrian was still in the living room.He stood near the window now, one hand in his pocket. He looked calm like nothing had just happened. That alone made my anger spike.“So,” I said sharply, my voice cutting through the quiet. He turned. His eyes met mine. “You didn’t leave.”“No,” I snapped. “Because I need answers.”He said nothing. That irritated me even more.I walked closer, stopping a few steps away from him. “What did you tell Liam?”His brow creased slightly. “Excuse me?”“What did you say to him?” I repeated, louder now. “Because whatever it was, it clearly pushed him over the edge.”Adrian set the glass down slowly. “We had a conversation.”“A conversation?” I laughed bitterly

  • TANGLED BETWEEN BROTHERS    Chapter Thirty-Four

Nicole’s POVThe front door closed behind us with a soft click, but the tension followed us outside.Liam walked ahead of me toward his car, his steps sharp. I could tell he was still angry. I hurried a little to catch up. “Liam,” I called gently. He stopped beside the car and turned to me. His face had softened compared to earlier, but his eyes were still dark and restless.“I can drop you off,” he said plainly. “I’m already heading out.”I shook my head slowly. “No. Not yet.”He frowned. “Nicole—”“I’m not ready to leave, I have not eaten breakfast,” I repeated, keeping my voice calm. “I just need a little more time.”He studied my face like he was trying to understand something that didn’t make sense to him. Then he sighed and ran a hand through his hair.“You don’t have to stay here,” he said. “After that scene inside… I don’t want you feeling uncomfortable.”I stepped closer to him. “I’m okay. Really.”That wasn’t entirely true, but I didn’t want to add more weight to what he wa

  • TANGLED BETWEEN BROTHERS    Chapter Thirty-Three

Adrian’s POVI woke up in a bad mood, I quickly got ready for work and went downstairs to the kitchen.“Good morning, Sir.” The housekeeper greeted me.I nodded at her, not wanting to utter a word. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Liam coming towards the kitchen.Liam stood near the counter in the kitchen, close to where I was. He glanced up when he noticed me watching him. “Morning,” he said lightly, like we were two normal brothers. “Morning,” I replied, taking a sip from the coffee in my hand. He leaned back against the counter. “The board meeting went well yesterday.”I nodded. “I saw the minutes.” l didn't want to keep a long conversation.“You didn’t stay long,” he sighed.“I didn’t need to.” That earned me a look. Liam always hated when I implied he needed supervision. He smiled anyway. “You should trust me more. I’m not a kid anymore.”I almost laughed but instead, I said, “Trust isn’t about age. It’s about consistency.”His smile faltered, just for a second.“Everything

  • TANGLED BETWEEN BROTHERS    Chapter Thirty-Two

Nicole’s POVI woke up slowly, feeling a bit warm. I turned a bit to see that Liam’s arm was around my waist, holding me close like he always did. His chest rose and fell behind me, steady. For a moment, I stayed still, listening to his breathing. Of course I love moments like this. Then his lips brushed the side of my neck.I stirred. “Liam…” I murmured. He kissed me again, softer this time, his hand sliding over my arm, then resting at my waist. My body reacted out of habit, but my mind was already racing. I checked the time in my head.I had school.“Hey,” I said quietly, pushing his hand away just a little. “I need to get ready. I’ll be late.”He groaned softly, pulling me closer for a second. “Just five more minutes. I also have a meeting I need to attend, even earlier than your classes.”I turned to face him, forcing a small smile. “Then it's settled, we both need to get up now.”His eyes opened, sleepy but warm. He leaned in to kiss me again, slower, deeper this time, and his

  • TANGLED BETWEEN BROTHERS    Chapter Thirty-One

Nicole’s POVI had to go back home to get something to wear. I felt confused regarding what to wear, that alone told me how much this dinner meant to me, even though I kept telling myself it didn’t.I stood in front of the mirror longer than necessary, smoothing my dress for the third time, checking my hair again, adjusting earrings no one would probably notice. My room felt too quiet.Liam had asked me out to dinner earlier today.I grabbed my bag and stepped outside, my heart beating faster than it should have. His car was already waiting. He stepped out the moment he saw me, opening the door like he always used to.“Hi,” he said softly.“Hi,” I replied, feeling a bit awkward with the pleasantries.“You look good,” he said casually as I got into the car.“Thank you,” I replied. The drive to the restaurant was smooth. He talked first.“You know, the new position has been… interesting,” he said, eyes on the road. “More responsibility, but I like it. People actually listen to me now.”

  • TANGLED BETWEEN BROTHERS    Chapter Thirty

Adrian’s POV The house was too quiet when I got back. Not the peaceful kind of quiet, the kind that made every sound louder in your head. I loosened my tie, then pulled it off completely, tossing it onto the console table without caring where it landed. My jacket followed. The silence pressed harder on my chest the farther I walked in. Clearly no one was home.I checked the living room first. Empty. The kitchen—clean, untouched. Upstairs? Same story. Every room looked perfect, neat, and lifeless. It irritated me more than I expected.I stood in the middle of the hallway, hands on my hips. For a second, I considered staying, pouring a drink and sitting with whatever mood had followed me home like a shadow but the thought made my skin crawl.I grabbed my phone instead. “Ethan,” I said the moment he answered, not bothering with greetings. “Get dressed.”There was a pause. Then a sigh. “That bad?”“I will be outside your apartment in ten minutes.” “You didn’t even ask—”“I’m not askin
