By the time Elena emerged from whatever hiding place she'd retreated to, she'd find her entire world in ruins.

Vanessa poured another glass of wine, toasting her reflection in the dark window.

"To finally getting what I deserve," she whispered.

The next morning, Dr. Morrison called an emergency meeting of the hospital board. The meeting was scheduled for that afternoon, giving Elena no time to prepare, no opportunity to defend herself.
