Gabriel sat in the back of his car, staring blankly out the window as the city lights blurred past. Vanessa's voice filled the silence, but he wasn't listening. He couldn't.

All he could see was Elena.

Elena in that silver gown. Elena's hand on Marcus's chest. Elena's smile, the one that used to be his, is now directed at another man.

"Gabriel, are you even listening to me?" Vanessa's sharp tone finally broke through his thoughts.
