Damon — POV

I’ve faced rogues.

I’ve faced rival Alphas.

I’ve faced a damn bear once.

None of them stressed me the way Aria did.

The girl had been in my life for less than an hour, and I was already questioning every decision I’d ever made.

She ran from me.

Twice.

Told me she hated drama.

Told me I was a drama.

Told me she wanted breakfast before dealing with me.

And now?

Now I was carrying her into my pack house over my shoulder like she weighed nothing.

She kicked.

She screamed.

She insulted me.

She insulted my Beta.

She insulted the entire crowd.

And somehow, I still wanted her.

The mate bond was a curse.

A beautiful, infuriating curse.

“PUT ME DOWN!” she yelled, pounding her fists against my back.

“No,” I said, stepping through the pack house doors.

“Damon!”

“No.”

“This is kidnapping!”

“It’s mate retrieval.”

“RYLAN!” she screamed. “HELP ME!”

My Beta snorted. “Sorry, Luna. I like my job.”

“I’M NOT LUNA!”

“Not yet,” I said.

She kicked harder.

I tightened my grip.

The pack house doors closed behind us, muffling the gasps and whispers from outside. The silence inside felt heavier — like the walls themselves were waiting to see what I’d do with her.

Finally, I set her down.

She spun around, hair wild, eyes blazing, chest rising and falling like she’d run a marathon.

She was beautiful.

Chaotic.

Unpredictable.

A walking disaster.

But beautiful.

She jabbed a finger at me. “Don’t ever do that again.”

“You ran,” I said.

“I walked emotionally fast.”

“You ran.”

She huffed. “Fine. I ran. But only because I don’t want drama.”

“You ARE drama,” I said.

Her jaw dropped. “How dare you.”

Rylan coughed to hide a laugh.

I glared at him. “Out.”

He saluted. “Yes, Alpha.”

He left, still laughing.

Aria crossed her arms. “Your Beta is rude.”

“You insulted him first.”

“He deserved it.”

I pinched the bridge of my nose. “Aria…”

“No,” she said. “Don’t ‘Aria’ me. I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t ask for a mate. I didn’t ask for a pack. I didn’t ask for people to stare at me like I crawled out of a grave.”

“You did crawl out of a grave,” Rylan called from the hallway.

“RYLAN!”

“Sorry!”

Aria rolled her eyes. “See? Drama.”

I stepped closer. “You’re not an abomination.”

“Tell your pack that.”

“I will.”

“They hate me.”

“They fear what they don’t understand.”

She snorted. “They fear everything. One woman fainted when I said hello.”

“That was Elder Miriam,” I said. “She faints when the wind blows.”

Aria laughed.

It was the first time I’d heard it.

Light.

Sharp.

Real.

It hit me harder than the bond.

She shook her head. “Look, Damon… I’m not Luna material. I’m not graceful. I’m not elegant. I’m not—”

“Lilith,” I finished.

She blinked. “Exactly.”

“Good,” I said. “I don’t want Lilith.”

She stared at me like she didn’t understand how that was possible.

I stepped closer.

Close enough to smell her.

Close enough to feel her.

Close enough that my wolf pushed against my skin, desperate to claim her.

“You’re not what they expected,” I said. “You’re not what I expected.”

She swallowed. “Is that supposed to be a compliment?”

“Yes.”

“It sounds like an insult.”

“It’s not.”

She looked away. “I don’t want to be here.”

“I know.”

“I don’t want to be Luna.”

“I know.”

“I don’t want a mate.”

My jaw tightened. “I know.”

She looked back at me, eyes softer now. “Then why are you forcing this?”

“Because the bond doesn’t care what we want.”

She flinched.

I hated that.

I lowered my voice. “Aria… I’m not asking you to accept me today. I’m not asking you to stay forever. I’m asking you to give me a chance.”

She stared at me.

Silent.

Thinking.

Guarded.

Then she said:

“…Do you have food?”

I blinked. “What?”

“Food,” she repeated. “I’m hungry. I died last night. I deserve a snack.”

I stared at her.

Then I laughed.

Actually laughed.

My wolf perked up, startled.

Rylan peeked around the corner. “Did the Alpha just laugh?”

“RYLAN!”

He disappeared again.

Aria crossed her arms. “Well? Do you have food or not?”

I nodded. “Yes. Come with me.”

She hesitated.

Her eyes flicked to the hallway.

To the stairs.

To the shadows.

To the doors.

To every possible escape route.

She was planning ten exits at once.

My wolf purred.

Chaos.

Pure chaos.

“Fine,” she said. “But if anyone looks at me wrong, I’m throwing a biscuit at them.”

I smirked. “I’ll allow it.”

She walked beside me, chin high, shoulders back, ready to fight the entire pack if necessary.

My wolf pressed against my skin.

My mate.

My chaos.

My problem.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • THE ALPHA CHOOSE THE WRONG SISTER     CHAPTER ELEVEN: Outside Her Door

Damon — POVThe door didn’t just close. It shut me out.The soft click of the lock echoed down the hallway like a gunshot. It was ridiculous how such a tiny sound could hit me so hard, but it did. It punched straight into my chest, sharp and unexpected, leaving me standing there like an idiot staring at a piece of wood. She locked me out.Again.My wolf reacted instantly, claws scraping against the inside of my skin.Mate is hurting.“I know.”Mate needs us.“I know.”Open the door.“No.”Break it.“Absolutely not.”He growled, pacing inside me like a storm trapped in a cage. He hated distance. He hated barriers. He hated anything that separated us from her. And right now, that thin wooden door felt like a mountain.I pressed my palm against it, feeling the faint warmth of her presence on the other side. Her heartbeat was fast — too fast. Her breathing uneven. She was trying to hide it, but I could hear everything.“Aria,” I said quietly, “I’m not leaving.”Silence.Not even a sarcast

  • THE ALPHA CHOOSE THE WRONG SISTER    Chapter Ten: Damon Notices the Silence

Aria — POVI left the garden with Luna Selene’s words echoing in my head like a heartbeat I didn’t know how to quiet. You are not a mistake. You are chosen.Your power is awakening. It should have made me feel strong. It should have made me feel hopeful. It should have made me feel… something good.Instead, I felt heavy.Like someone had placed a stone on my chest.I wasn’t used to kindness.I wasn’t used to being seen.I wasn’t used to being told I mattered. My parents never said things like that. They said the opposite.Every day.So hearing Luna Selene speak to me like I was worth something…It hurt in a way I didn’t know how to explain.I walked back into the pack house quietly, my steps slow, my mind spinning. And that’s when Damon appeared. He stepped out from behind a pillar like he’d been waiting for me — which, knowing him, he probably had.His eyes scanned my face immediately, sharp and searching.“You’re quiet,” he said.I kept walking. He followed.“You’re never quiet.”I

  • THE ALPHA CHOOSE THE WRONG SISTER    Chapter Nine: The Garden, The Power, and The Truth

---Aria — POVBreakfast ended with me eating half the bread basket, Rylan nearly choking twice, Damon staring at me like I was a riddle he couldn’t solve, and Luna Selene smiling at me like she knew something I didn’t.Which, honestly, she probably did.“Aria,” she said gently, “come find me in the garden when you’re done.”I nodded, pretending to be calm.Inside, my stomach was doing backflips. Not because I feared her — okay, maybe a little — but because I knew how this usually went.Adults didn’t call me aside to praise me.They didn’t call me aside to encourage me.They didn’t call me aside to help me.They called me aside to tell me I was a burden.A disappointment.A mistake. My parents had trained me well.So as I followed Luna Selene through the glass doors into the garden, I braced myself for the worst. The garden was beautiful — blooming roses, winding stone paths, sunlight filtering through tall trees. Birds chirped. A fountain trickled softly. It was peaceful.Too peacefu

  • THE ALPHA CHOOSE THE WRONG SISTER    Chapter Eight: Lilith POV — The Summoning & The Queen’s Request

Lilith — POVNight fell like a curtain, heavy and suffocating.Perfect.Darkness suited me tonight.I stood at the edge of the forest behind our house, the summoning stone clutched in my hand. It pulsed faintly, like a heartbeat — cold, steady, hungry.Just like me.The moonlight filtered through the trees, casting long shadows across the ground. The air smelled of pine, damp earth, and something else…Opportunity.I closed my eyes and breathed in.Aria was at the pack house right now.Eating at Damon’s table.Sitting beside him.Laughing with his mother.Being accepted. While I stood here, alone, humiliated, forgotten.No.Not forgotten. Not for long.I tightened my grip on the stone until my knuckles turned white.“Aria,” I whispered, “your time is running out.”The stone vibrated in my palm.My wolf stirred uneasily. This is dangerous.“I know,” I whispered. “That’s the point.”I lifted the stone to my chest, closed my eyes, and focused.Just like Father taught me.Just like Mother

  • THE ALPHA CHOOSE THE WRONG SISTER    Chapter Seven: The Beginning of the End

Lilith — POVI didn’t cry on the way to my room.I refused to.Crying was for weak girls.Girls like Aria. Not me.I kept my chin high, my steps sharp, my face cold. I walked through the house like a queen returning from war — even though I’d lost. But the moment I stepped into my room and shut the door, the truth hit me like a slap.Damon chose her.Her.Aria.The useless one.The clumsy one.The one Mother always hid when guests came. The one Father called “a mistake we couldn’t return.”My throat tightened. My vision blurred. I pressed my hands against the dresser, breathing hard. This wasn’t happening. It couldn’t be happening.I was raised for Damon.Trained for Damon.Prepared for Damon.I was supposed to be Luna. Not Aria.Never Aria.A scream tore out of me before I could stop it. I grabbed the nearest perfume bottle and threw it against the wall. It shattered, glass scattering across the floor like glittering shards of my future.Mother burst into my room without knocking, he

  • THE ALPHA CHOOSE THE WRONG SISTER    CHAPTER SIX — Royal Wolves & Cursed Potatoes

Aria — POVWalking beside Damon felt like walking next to a thundercloud with muscles. He was silent.Focused.Annoyed.Probably plotting how to tie me to a chair so I’d stop running.Meanwhile, I was thinking about food.“Do you have bread?” I asked.Damon blinked. “Bread?”“Yes. Or meat. Or something edible. I’m starving.”“You died,” he said. “Of course you’re hungry.”I glared at him. “Stop saying it like it’s normal.”Rylan, walking behind us, snorted. “It’s normal for her now.”I kicked backward. He dodged.Damon sighed. “Both of you behave.”“I am behaving,” I said.“No, you’re not.”“I’m behaving for me.”“That’s the problem.”We reached a pair of tall double doors carved with wolves and moons. Damon paused.“My parents are inside,” he said.I froze.“Your… parents?”“Yes.”“As in… the Alpha King and Luna Queen?”“Yes.”My stomach dropped so fast it hit the floor. My wolf whimpered. Be nice. BE NICE.I smoothed my hoodie, fixed my hair, and tried to look like someone who hadn’
