LOGINHAZEL'S POV
"Haze? HAZEL!" I was jolted back to reality as Gabz shouted my name. I gasped and sensed the need to suck in a deep breath! My ears were ringing, and I had a massive headache. FUCK! I felt the back of her hand pressing against my forehead. Was she checking me for a fever? "Hazel, honey, look at me!" Gabz ordered in a worried tone. My eyes shot open as my friend's concerned expression came into view. She only called me Hazel when she was worried or upset. "Do you want me to call someone because you have a fever?" She asked, holding her cell in her shaking hand. I reached out weakly and took her arm that held the phone. I slowly sat up on the bed. "No Gabz, I'm fine," I answered weakly. She trailed her dark brown eyes over my face and scrunched up her nose as if she could smell the lie that just fell from my lips. "Haze you don't look fine, what the hell happened?" She inquired as she took a seat at the edge of the bed. "You scared the shit outta me. I thought—I thought you were dead." Her voice cracked at the end and tears flowed from her eyes. I flung my arms around her thin neck. "Shh, babe, don't cry. I promise I'm OK now," I gently squeezed her before I drew away so we were gazing in each other's face. I wiped away a stray tear that fell from her eye and she gave me another tight hug before she pulled away from me completely. She got up from the bed and rested her hands on her hips, tapping her foot impatiently on the floor. Now, this little gesture of hers was something she did when she was really, really god-damned pissed. "I'm waiting for you to answer my question, Hazel! What the fuck happened?" That's a good fucking question, but I was the wrong person to ask because I had no idea what-so-ever. I sighed to myself. She squinted her eyes in anger. Even though she's a natural blonde, her eyes were dark brown. I always found it odd, but that's Gabz, she's an odd girl. She has a fiery spirit that matches her attitude perfectly. She has a perfect body, with her tiny waist and smooth, doll-like skin. Not only that, but she won all the pageants she entered over the years. She's the girl that every guy wanted a taste of. I stood up, and I was hit with the pressure of that god awful headache. It clawed away at my skull. Gabz stood directly in front of me as if she were blocking my path in case I tried leaving the room. I rolled my eyes at her and said, "Easy there, tiger, I'm just going to pee." She just stood there and stared at me for what felt like hours before she stepped aside and cleared my path. "OK Haze, but you better have an explanation when you come back from the bathroom." I nodded in assurance. I entered the bathroom and quickly emptied my bladder while massaging my temples. My mind was moving at light speed. I was trying to decipher what the hell happened, but it was only making my headache worse. I got up, flushed the toilet, then went to the sink and washed my hands. I opened the cabinet and popped two, maybe three ibuprofens in my mouth. Hopefully, this would help to ease my pain. I glanced over at my freckled face in the mirror. "I look like shit!" I said to myself. My loose strands of hair were wet from sweat and matted down on my forehead. I looked like I just ran a marathon. I felt like it too. My body was weak and tired. I washed my face before I headed back to my room. When I entered, I saw Gabz laying across the bed on her back with her feet dangling off to the side. Her golden locks splayed neatly above her head. I went over and laid beside her. "So where do I begin?" I asked. She scoffed and said, "At the beginning, of course." So, I informed her about the dream I had last night. She was oohing and ahhing and smiling happily. She even clapped and squealed when I told her my dream guy and I kissed. I left out the 'almost having sex' part. "So was it like a sweet and gentle peck, or was it like a hardcore and sexy tongue hockey match?" My breath hitched in my throat a little at her question. I could tell that something was still bothering her, but I answered her anyway. "It was more like the second one," I giggled. Her smile shone even brighter than before. I continued to where I fell asleep on the bed waiting for her and then had a crazy dream. I explained to her how it felt so real that at first, I didn't realize I was dreaming. I told her about my dream guy and his hottie friend and that they spoke in riddles I didn't understand— to the part where I hid in the closet, and they couldn't see me. I informed her how it was her voice that woke me from my sleep. Gabz said nothing at first. She was just staring up at the ceiling. I rolled to my side and propped myself up using my elbow. The headache felt distant now. That meant the pills were working. "Gabz?" I called to her. She took a few deep breaths, then she, too, rolled on her side and braced herself on her elbow as well. It was then that I noticed she had a bandage around the knuckles and wrist of her right hand. Her straight blonde hair cascaded to the sides of her face like curtains. She stared at me with her dark brown eyes and said, "Haze, you weren't sleeping." What the fuck she meant I wasn't sleeping? I stared at her, blinking wildly. I was at a loss for words. I didn't know what to say. Gabz noticed the battle I had going on inside and decided to give me an account of what she said happened. "When I came into the room, I saw you lying on the bed. At first, I thought you were sleeping because you weren't moving at all. I walked closer to you and that's when I saw —," She trailed off, almost like she didn't want to finish her statement. "And that's when you saw — what?" I snapped my fingers at her. She composed herself a little before she continued. "And that's when I saw your eyes were all white and wide open. It was like a scene from a horror movie. You looked possessed. I tried shaking you, but you didn't respond." I swallowed the bile that was in the back of my throat. She paused a bit and touched my hand, waiting for me to catch my breath before she continued. "I was shocked at the state you were in. I was about to call your aunt when I heard your breathing becoming erratic. It looked like you were having a panic attack." My hand went to my chest as she spoke. My lips were now dry. "The thing I saw next still puzzles me." I watched her body tensed a bit as she became hesitant. I gave her a small smile of encouragement. "Gabz it's OK," I nodded my head slightly. She returned a weak smile and continued with her recollection. "I saw your body began to shake violently. I turned you on your side and that's when I saw — shit this part is difficult to say." She got up off the bed and paced. I sat up on the bed and watched as she played with her fingers. "Gabz it's OK you can tell me anything," I reassured her. "You're going to think I've gone fucking crazy," she mumbled as she placed both her hands on top of her head. "No, I won't." "OK, after you began seizing, your body fucking levitated off the bed. LEVITATED!!! You were floating in mid-air for a couple of seconds!" She looked directly into my eyes as she spoke. I opened my mouth, then shut it again. I was at a loss for words for the second time today. "You don't have to say anything until I'm finished," she sighed. "Wait, there's more?" "Your body fell on the bed and that's when I realized you weren't breathing. Your eyes were closed. I gave you mouth-to-mouth, but it wasn't working." Hot tears streamed down her cheeks. "I thought you died Hazel, so I started shouting your name and that's when your eyes flicked opened, and you sucked in a long, deep breath."HAZEL'S POVWe were all just standing around, doing absolutely nothing, while waiting for Zander and the others to come back, and somehow that nothing turned into chaos anyway. Carson was busy being Carson, which meant he had planted himself directly in front of the fairy queen and was asking her a never-ending string of deeply inappropriate, wildly invasive, and completely unnecessary questions, most of which made no sense even by his standards. I tried to tune him out, because if I focused on my beta for even one more second, I was going to lose what little patience I had left.Instead, I focused on the feeling sitting heavy in the pit of my stomach, because something about this whole plan felt off. Everyone else seemed convinced it would work out just fine, but my instincts were screaming at me that we were missing something important, and I hated that feeling more than anything.Cedella was humming a soft tune while gently coaxing Tia into grabbing some sleep, her voice steady and
ZANDER'S POVI didn't hesitate. "Guards," I said, turning sharply. "Are you sure we're in the right place?"No one answered. The space behind us was empty. The guards were gone, and I hadn't even heard them retreat. We had been so lost in the beauty of this place that they slipped away without any of us noticing.A cold knot settled deep in my gut."Right," Dimitri said dryly. "Of course this was all a trick."I stepped closer to Isis. "Can you break the illusion?"Her jaw tightened. "It's not just an illusion, Zander. This place is alive, and it's feeding."James frowned. "Feeding on what?""On us," she replied grimly. The Dome pulsed as the walls subtly drew inward, the movement so slow it could have been missed if we weren't watching for it. Above us, the constellations shifted, their light dimming as shadows stretched unnaturally long."Okay," James said, squaring his shoulders. "We have to leave. Now."We turned and walked straight into the same path we had just come from."Fuck!
ZANDER'S POV"Are you sure this is the way to the Euphoric Dome?" James asked the guards, who kept eyeing each other every few seconds as they led us down hallway after hallway and through doors stacked on top of doors. By now, you would have thought we'd be there already."My balls are itchy, and I really need to shower," Dimitri complained."We're almost there, don't worry," the taller guard answered, but my wolf's ears perked as we picked up on the uncertainty in his voice.I was about to snarl at him when a bright light caught my eye at the end of the corridor. We stepped out into the open, only to realize we had entered some kind of oval containment. My eyes watched as the corridor we had just stepped from disappeared completely."Is that normal?" James asked, but the guards only cleared their throats and ignored his question. "This place is beautiful, though," he added, his gaze drifting across everything around us as he quickly forgot about the vanishing hallway. The structure
???'s POVAlfonso led the group through the secret underground passageway beneath the castle. The air suddenly gained a musty, damp smell, the smell of death and decay. Nobody spoke until they reached a grey door hidden in the wall. "This is it, the entrance to the library," Alfonso whispered."And you're certain no one will be in there?" Alpha Zander double-checked. He replayed the plan over and over in his head, but something didn't feel right in the pit of his stomach. "Yes, I'm sure. Prince Magnus or his guards never come here. They stay in the North and West wings of the castle." Alfonso exhaled as he pressed the indentation in the wall and the door quietly slid open. "Let's go, but be quiet."Declan was the first person who try to enter through the door. Zander yanked him back by his collar. "Where the fuck do you think you're going?""I cannot stay behind Alpha. Maddox and I will go mad if we don't go to her.""Declan, you can't go," Lucinda warned. "But she's my mate," he y
???'s POV"What Lucinda didn't know was that she was carrying twins," Magdalena declared. "So with my trusty staff and some of my fairy blood, I helped Lucinda. She fed on my blood for three days until she became stronger. Soon I realized that her DNA and the babies' were now infused with fairy blood. A day after that. Lucinda left. I promised her I would be there when she gave birth, but the dark witches attacked because the twins came early.""But how did you escape? I saw you and Harper's body. I buried you," Isis said."Well, after the queen and I made the agreement, she offered me a potion that I should take just in case of trouble. So after I gave birth and the dark witches attacked, I fought until I was tired. When I couldn't go anymore, I dropped a few droplets of the elixir in Harper's mouth, and then I drank the rest. It stopped our heart rates for a while. Isis didn't know, she thought we died and I knew she would ensure Hazel and James were safe.""I remember that part. I
???'s POV"Blink! Blink!" Alpha Zander tried to coax himself. He still seemed to believe his ears had deceived him. Did the queen just say Hazel was with child? He asked himself and his wolf, Gidian answered. "That is undoubtedly what she said. Not that it's impossible, but how come we can't smell our pup inside her?"Zander's fingers stroked the side of his Luna's face, who wasn't moving an inch. "I don't know, but I think Lucinda knows why," Zander replied telepathically to his wolf. The way how Lucinda was staring told him she had some idea of what was going on. Currently, he didn't know what to make of the situation. The other werewolves were thinking the same. Confusion, excitement, and concern were only a few emotions that were swirling around in the air. And also staining the air with an enormous punch was fear. Fear of what this may mean for Luna Hazel. James remembered the first time he smelt his son growing inside Sue-Ling, the she-wolf he was set to marry. A wave of guil
