AUTUMN:

First it was confusion and the next, I was glaring back at Beta Maddox. With no plans of answering him, I hurried cleaning the hallways, mopping everything and when I was done, gathered all the cleaning materials that the other omega's had dropped on the floor.

“Have you gone mute?” he asked. “I said why are you cleaning the hall alone?”

At the corner of my gaze, he pocketed his phone in his pocket, while eyeing me.

“I did not need an audience, Beta Maddox.” Telling him why the others left was a waste of time. There was no guarantee that he would take my side. He rejected me, remember?

Seeing him will only make the mate bond painful. Just because I carried it well did not mean that I was no longer in pain.

“I am overseeing things, Autumn. You're not answering my question.”

“I'm not the only one working. Try to check if the others are done as well.”

I double checked the hallway, checking if there were still spots that were left. But there was none.

“Done. You're the only one left. I will talk to the other omega's.”

“It was supposed to be me with the rest of the omega's, but not anymore,” I mumbled to myself. Forcing a smile and looking at him, I added, “You don't have to do that, Beta Maddox. Thank you so much, too for checking on the hall. It meant a lot for Hugh. Oh no. Alpha Hugh.”

“Is that sarcasm in your voice, Autumn?”

Looking at him with a dry expression I replied, “Think whatever you want, Beta Maddox. My job here is finished. If you will excuse me.”

“Return your cleaning tools to the materials and come after with me.”

My heart skipped a bit.

It does not have anything to do with the mate bond. Don't get your hopes high.

Raising my eyebrows, I asked, “Why should I do that, Beta Maddox? I don't want your fiancee to slap me once again.”

‘You think I will let that happen again?’ Trisha growled. ‘Not a chance.’

“That will not happen,” he reassured. “She will receive a scolding from me. I don't tolerate bullying in this pack.”

You don't have any idea, Beta Maddoxx.  “Oh, no. You don't have any idea about your woman.” Too. She's a monster. A monster hiding with a beautiful face.

“Sabrina could be difficult to handle at times, but most of the time…she's…”

Funny how everyone kept on defending her even if she was the one at fault. They believed she was a saint and her minions were even worshipping the ground she walked on.

“She’s kind? I don't think so.”

Damn.

Why did I keep on entertaining him?

I better run away from him.

“Autumn. I meant it when I said that the alpha wanted to see you,” he repeated.

What for?

They had already abandoned our friendship so we should treat each other as if we did not exist.

“No, thank you. I am busy this evening.”

“I'm planning to go out in the city.” I already had contacted someone. There was a vacant job for cleaning a house. I would grab that one. Omega's were not forbidden to grab some extra jobs as long as we were done with our jobs in the pack house.

“Why?”

Looking at him dryly, I answered, “What else? I need some cash. Looking for cash is more important than attending the party.”

Besides, I did not have anything to wear. They said it was formal attire. I did not have anything except some used clothes.

“You could be charged for that.”

“Not attending the alpha's party  could be charged with imprisonment? I wished those who rejected their mates would be charged, too,” I said with a dry tone.

The beta walked after with me as if he was a lost puppy.

“Don't talk lightly about that,” he murmured while scanning the surroundings.

“I will keep on talking if you keep on following me. The others will know about our relationship, Beta Maddox. And you will regret it,” I threatened.

“You’re not the one threatening me, Autumn. You're not allowed to work. You will attend the party, whether you want it or not. That's an order from me, your beta.” And he walked ahead of me, leaving me dumbfounded.

BETA MADDOX:Fuck, I cursed loudly inside my head.I was supposed to call the alpha for an important call. From the pack. Something that needed his attention as soon as possible. The pack’s safety was at risk. But the scenery that was playing in front of me was not something that I had expected. My heart felt like it was being slowly ripped apart without meaning to. Hugh was offering the ring to Autumn. He did not tell me anything about this. About this proposal. However, I did know that he bought a ring. He asked me about the best jewelry shop, which was also known for creating the best rings out there.I was put in the blind spot.He wanted to marry Autumn. And if the woman accepts the proposal, the two would be happy, while I was here, stuck.Sabrina never texted me. Maybe she was waiting for me to call first. I will be the first one to pursue her. To fix this relationship. A bigger part of me wanted to end the engagement too. I could no longer deal with how difficult she was. Au

AUTUMN:Turn off the camera and we will have all the time to do what we can? That was too tempting, but...I would rather spend all my time with him as we both stared at the beach.“Stop tempting me, Hugh,” I said and smiled. He sighed with a loving look on his face. “You look lovely, love. Did I tell you that already?”I nodded. “You did. A couple of times. And I appreciate it.”“No. I appreciate you even more for accepting a bastard like me. Despite hurting you in the past, you still have the heart to forgive me.”I shook my head. “Let's not talk about that. It was meant to happen, anyway. To give lessons for both of us.”Back then, my heart was full of bitterness and hatred towards the alpha and the beta. But now…there was none of that anymore. I was not even aware that I was already healing. All because I stayed in the alpha's house. Maybe that was one of the reasons that helped me a lot. I was given the chance on how amazing this man was. “I love you,” he said. “I love you, to

AUTUMN:I chuckled softly to lessen the heavy feeling in the surroundings. "Who said Daddy and I are getting married?" Images of Hugh and I walking down the aisle resurfaced in my mind, bringing a smile to my face. Why not?Wasn’t marriage to be the last goal with this man? Maddox folded his arms in front of his chest while eyeing me. It looked like he was mad at me or something like that. Hugh, on the other hand, popped his eyes open and looked around.Good because I definitely wanted someone to help me right now."Uncle Cedric said so, Miss Autumn.” The child shrugged off his shoulders. "I don't know, Miss Autumn. I will ask him next time. Is it true, Miss Autumn?"Cedric? That man again. What was running on his mind when he said the alpha and I would get married? If my groom would be Hugh, the idea of getting married was no longer scary. “Why would he say that? You must not believe everything that he was going to say. Do you understand?”“Why, Miss Autumn?”“People lie somet

AUTUMN:"Autumn?" Hugh asked as if he was going to die from happiness. It looked like he was going to jump out of sheer happiness. Real happiness. I chuckled nervously. "Y-yes? What is it, Hugh?"Trisha giggled, loving how the event turned properly. She approved how I finally became true to myself and accepted this man. Perhaps this was the right time. Perhaps…I should now accept his love and see if we were meant to be each other or not. I will never know if I will not try. Hugh…this man was worth it, right? Was he worth the pain? Still…Why did I say that I loved him, too? I must have been sleepy at that time. Was it too soon to say it?‘What the…you're out of your mind. The alpha had been waiting for you for almost six months.”Was it six months? No. It was not six months. It was shorter than that. But…love could not be measured by time. If that was the case, I wondered what would be measured by love? How will we know if we already loved that person? How will we know if he was

AUTUMN:When I shifted my gaze to the woman, I found her leaning toward Eric and was already sleeping at his side. She looked like an innocent doll beside him. She looked so fragile that their protective instinct resurfaced. Maybe that was also the reason why Eric chose this woman over me. The need to protect this woman was the strongest. They deserved each other and it was only time that their paths would cross. I felt sorry for her.Until now, there were bruises all over her body.Whoever did this to her deserved to die over and over again. Men who hurt women were the worst. I wanted them to suffer until the last breath. "That settled it then. We need to inform Cedric about this new arrangement," Maddox stated. “This will not be permanent. Until we know the person behind this. However, Eric. If you believe you can handle the risk, you can have her as long as she will come with you.”"Cedric already knows as of the moment," Hugh informed. “I told him over the mind link.”That fas

AUTUMN:"Yes. May I know who she is?" I asked, seconding Maddox. No one wanted to answer. Hugh was glaring at me. Probably because he was mad that I only arrived now and Eric. He could not really meet my gaze. Maybe because he was guilty that once in his life, he was sure that he was going to take me as his mate, but now? He suddenly changed his tone. Was I hurting for his change of heart? No.It was more like the feeling of betrayal. Like how could he claim he was sure of me and then changed the next time?"Eric? Why? Are you guilty that you suddenly lose your tongue?”“Autumn …” he started but there were no words in his mouth to add. He looked so guilty. He should be. “I do not believe that the woman is not important; I don't think you will come here at this hour, wait for us until we get home and let us think that this is an ordinary scene."What I was curious about was why they did not let the woman retire for the night? Or let her go? Or whatever was needed to make her have
