The forest air turned razor-sharp.

Ariana felt the shift immediately—an invisible pressure crashing down like a tidal wave. Damon’s aura flared in response, silver light rippling beneath his skin as instinct took over.

War.

It was coming.

And it was coming for her.

Damon didn’t waste a second. He tugged Ariana behind him and addressed the warrior. “How many Council members crossed the border?”

“Seven Elders and two full battalions,” the warrior replied. “Alpha… they arrived under a white flag, but—they’re not here to negotiate.”

Ariana’s heart hammered. “Why would the Council want me now?”

Damon didn’t look at her as he spoke—his jaw was locked, his fury simmering like a storm he barely controlled.

“The Dark Priest wasn’t lying. They know something about the prophecy…”

He finally met her eyes, silver blazing.

“…and they want to use you.”
