Roxanne's POV:

"How are you holding up?" Roman asked as he drove.

I met his eyes in the rearview mirror, then looked at Jersey, who sat comfortably next to me with her eyes closed.

I was furious with him for wanting death over us, but that didn't mean I didn't understand how he felt. Astrid was Astrid, and I was me. Our emotions were the same, yet different.

I shifted my gaze to the window and chose to keep quiet.

I said my goodbyes to everyone, and they were so sad to see me go. The only one I avoided and had no regrets about was Larson. I didn't want Roman to get upset with him and think that being with me was a wrong decision.

"Lady, your mate is asking you a question," he said as I ignored him.

I gasped loudly when he stepped on the brakes, making Jersey and me move forward and hit the seats.

"Ouch," I murmured in pain.

"Master, is there a problem?" she asked loudly as she looked around.
