He had actually done it!

Elena beamed. Her plan had worked faster than she expected.

“Aaron…”

“I told her that it was over,” His voice was firm now. “No more pretending. No more pressure from my parents.”

He let out a deep breath.

Elena smiled, but she still wasn’t convinced. Mr and Mrs. Calvalli weren’t the kind of people who would sit still and watch their son do something against their will.

“I can’t stop thinking about you, Marilyn,” he continued.

Her hand tightened around the phone

“I hate it when someone interferes with my job, Elena.”She closed her eyes and listened as he began to recount how the doctor had called him about how she stormed out of the room as though she was being chased.“I don’t want to go through with that right now,” she said finally and sat up straight. She had gotten home about ten minutes ago, thinking about her next move, because revealing herself now would prevent her from finding out the person behind the accidents and threats.“What’s going on?” He sounded concerned. “I need you to find something for me,” she said, letting out a deep sigh. There was a brief pause on the other end. “You sound as though you’ve discovered something.”“I have,” she replied. “And If I go through with the reconstructive surgery to look like my old self, I would never be able to find out who wants me dead.”“Tell me.”“There’s a clause in my father’s Will,” she said, l

Elena smiled as she thought about what the private investigator had told her that morning. She had managed to leave her brothers, promising to see a doctor later in order to assure them that she was fine.He had assured her that he would call her when she left the office and she wished the time to go faster.Apparently, he didn’t tap into her phone, he had only watched her go into the Anderson’s estate and was sure that she would want to tell them about the will.“You seem to be in a good mood today, Miss Thompson.”She glanced up to see Mr. Rhodes smirking as he watched her. She felt repulsed at that, wondering how long he had been watching her.“How long have you been here, Mr. Rhodes?” She narrowed her eyes at him. He was a stalker and it was annoying.“Long enough to see you giggling like a sixteen year old who just had her first boyfriend.”She wondered why she had thought that D Seers was th

Elena stayed still for a while, her mind racing with several thoughts. They were not going to be happy if they heard that she had been entertaining Aaron. “Elena?” Ethan sounded like someone was choking him. He was still at a loss as to what was happening. She let out a shaky breath and suddenly tears began to drop from her eyes. “I don’t know who to trust anymore!” Her voice broke on the last word. The brothers froze. Tears ran freely down her face now. Her hands shook as she pressed them against the edge of the table. “I almost died,” her voice trembled. “Someone tried to kill me.” She continued. “Then someone inside the company starts moving money around and making it look like it’s me.” She looked at each of them, pain flashing in her eyes. “And then I find out that one of you is talking to Aaron?” She wip

Elena shook her head and fell onto her seat. No! No! No!How was this possible? She had tried so hard to hide her identity and this strange man just happened to find out?Her voice was out barely above a whisper. “What did you just say?”She heard him chuckle from the other end of the phone. “I know it’s you.”The phone nearly slipped from her hand as she was shocked. Her breaths came out in ragged gasps. This was Impossible. She had been careful, really careful and nobody was supposed to know. She had altered her face, her hair and her eyes. Even her voice was different. Her mind raced with several thoughts. Then how was it that someone as mysterious as the private investigator who had never seen her. How?Has someone betrayed her?Her voice shook as she spoke. “What are you talking about?”His voice was calm as he answered. “You’re Elena Anderson, formerly Elena Calvalli.”Her eyes darted instinctively towards the door of her office. Her voice cracked. “No.”A soft exhale came from

"...so I told them the expansion figures were unrealistic," Aaron was saying with a faint smile, his fingers loosely wrapped around his wine glass. "But eventually they came around."Aaron sat across from her in a dark tailored suit, looking every bit the polished businessman he was, or thought he was.He was talking to her and yet, Elena barely heard a word he was saying. She was certain that it was something about a new acquisition deal or a partnership.Or maybe it was one of his usual self-congratulatory stories about how he had “saved” the company from collapse.Elena honestly had no idea because while he talked, her mind was somewhere else entirely.Somewhere darker. They were out for dinner, the second time that week. This was a new place. An expensive restaurant that Elena was sure cost a whole lot of money. Elena took a small sip of water, hoping to drown out the voices in her head. The deep cold voice that frustrated and annoyed her so much. She couldn’t understand why sh

Aaron stared at her as though she had grown an extra head. She chuckled. “Come on, I just need you to put in a good word for me.”She had been more than excited when the private investigator agreed to help her and she vowed to do her own investigation, anyway she could find out which of her brothers had been talking to Aaron. She met him for dinner. This time, at his apartment and while they ate, she casually brought up the fact that she was having a hard time at work and needed him to help her speak to the Anderson brothers since he was close to them.He coughed and she passed him a glass of water. “I know you’re really close to them. Or at least one of them.”He shook his head. “That’s not true.”She nodded as she took a small sip of wine. “But I’ve seen you speak to him. You don’t have to act modest in front of me.”“You saw me speak to him?” He asked furrowing his brows. “Really?”She nodded. “I did.”She wondered when Aaron had become a good liar. He was so bad at lying that she
