“Marilyn! Marilyn!”

Mr. Rhodes was trying to hold her, but she crumpled the note in her palm and stormed out of the office, ignoring everyone calling out to her.

“Mr. seers,” she was almost crying as she sat in her car, her phone placed on her ear. “Someone sent me large bouquet of flowers and a photograph of me pinned to a note, telling me that I was going to die.”

“Calm down, Elena,” he said In his usual deep voice. “Where are you right now?”

“I just left my office,” she was breathing shakily

He stood by the window, one hand shoved deeply into his pocket, the other loosely holding a glass of untouched whiskey. What he loved the most about this new building was how he could see the view of the city. And directly in front of him, the Anderson group’s headquarters, what he was sure would soon be his.His phone vibrated, jerking him from his string of thoughts. He didn’t turn immediately. He let it ring for almost three times before finally picking it up.“Yes.”He hated being disturbed and he was certain that this wasn’t important. Despite his strict instructions, he almost always ended up being disturbed by trivial matters. “She’s still in the office, sir. Alone,” the man said from the other end of the line and that got his attention.A slow smile spread across his lips and he finally took a swig off his glass. “Are you certain?”“Yes, sir. Everyone else has left and the rotation just changed.”He let out a deep sigh, amused by everything. This was the opportunity he had b

He shoved his hand into his pocket as he walked behind the executives of Anderson group. They were talking amongst themselves, saying something about how much the stock had increased and which company was taking the lead that week.He glanced and the woman walking towards him, her heels clicking softly against the floor. Her face was calm and it made him mad. After what he had sent to her, she shouldn’t be calm.“Good morning, Mr. Bauer,” she said politely as a man approached from the opposite end.He passed by her without stopping and muttered something he was sure was also a greeting. “Good morning, Miss Thompson,” he said as she walked past him.She muttered a greeting in reply and smiled politely at him. She would never guess that he was behind the notes or what exactly he was after. Nobody would. He had afterall, gained their trust. He glanced at her as she went into the elevator that would take her to her office. He might have to pay her a visit soon.He turned around and w

Elena held her phone very tight and moved to the other side of the room. “Nothing,” she said, clenching her teeth. “Elena?” He said again, ranking towards her.She stood up abruptly. “I just realized that I have somewhere to be.”“What? By this time? It’s almost midnight Elena! What is going on with you! First, you disguise yourself as this person, and then you begin to hide things from us! What exactly is going on?”She let out a deep sigh. “Nothing! I’ll explain everything to you later, just…please, not now.”He nodded and let out a deep sigh. “Fine. But please, I hope you aren’t doing anything drastic? I don’t want you going into danger again. We just found you after many years!”She let out a deep sigh. “I’m not in any danger.”“I hope so,” he said as he stood up and began to walk out of the room. “I’ll see you later, Elena.”She let out a deep sigh and opened the private investigator’s message._______________The footage was grainy, but she could make out everything. It looked

Eleven years old Elena sat curled up on the thin mattress in the corner, her knees pressed tightly against her chest as thunder echoed outside. Her stomach hurt. It wasn’t sharp like the normal stomach cramps. This was the slow aching kind that came from not eating enough as usual. The door burst open suddenly and she flinched and sat up straighter.Dame Gabriella stepped inside carrying shopping bags in one hand and her swollen stomach with the other.Even heavily pregnant, the woman still looked elegant. Her hair was perfect, as always and her expensive cologne filled the air.Her sharp eyes were filled with irritation the moment they landed on Elena.“You’re still sitting there?”Elena stood up immediately. “I’m sorry, mother.”“I told you to wash the dishes.”“I did,” Elena whispered quickly. “I washed everything.”Gabriella hissed as she walked into the kitchen and checked the sink. Her face darkened instantly. She had seen a spoon in the sink.“You call this clean?” She held

The woman stepped closer, confusion marring her features.“Are you okay?”Up close, Elena noticed the wrinkles on her forehead and wondered if all was well with her, if her triplets were doing well and her husband as well.“Uhm…yes. I’m sorry,” she stuttered and saw the dent on the woman’s car. “I’ll cover the damages and….”She smiled politely, the same smile that endeared her to many people. “It’s okay, dear. It’s not serious.”Elena nodded, not knowing what to say. Of course the Dame wouldn’t recognize her due to the transformation she had undergone. “Uhm,” Elena shifted her foot, still confused as to what to say. The Dame walked to her car, placing her phone to her ear and speaking to someone. When Elena got back to her car, she let out a deep sigh. It had been a very long day, and it was still morning!Twenty one Years agoElena’s eyes twitched and her small fingers tightened against the stiff hospital sheets as her eyelids fluttered open.Everything was blurry at first, but s

I can’t stay here, it’s not safe,” she kept rambling, blinking rapidly to prevent tears from spilling out of her eyes. “I don’t know what to do.”“Okay. Take a deep breath. Nothing can happen to you right now. Wait in the parking lot and Greg will be there to pick you up.”She nodded, not caring that he couldn’t see her and just as she was about to get into her car, she heard someone yell out her name.“Miss Thompson!”For a moment, she stilled. This wasn’t wha
