Sylvia Fenris' POV

*************************************************************

"Sylvia! Wait." Rand is behind me and I can't walk faster because of course he will catch up to me. My vision is clouded by tears and no matter how hard I swipe away at them, they just pool together and run down my cheeks.

The scene I walked in on replays in my head. Morgana Balkin, that hateful bitch. Sucking off Rand. Rand, my fated mate. The sly smile she gave me told me everything I needed to know in that instant. It wasn't something new. They had been together for a while. I can't believe it but it makes sense.

Rand's nonchalance towards me since we got to the academy. I made excuses for him that he was simply busy and pressured with his training. But there he was, getting sucked off by his cousin who hated my guts with an intensity I didn't get before but can now understand. Fuck, this is beyond humiliating.

I have barely made it to the reception of his dormitory before he grabs my elbow and stops me in my tracks with his strength. I grit my teeth in anger as I wrest myself out of his grip.

"Sylvia." He says, quietly.

I look up at him, there is no panic in his golden features, or even regret for that matter. He looks almost smug. I feel sick.

"Let me go." I snap. I must look ridiculous with my tear soaked cheeks and scowling angry eyes. How dare him desecrate our relationship like that!

"That...what you saw, it didn't mean anything, Sylvia." Rand bites out through gritted teeth, like the words are hard to come out of him. I can't believe his nerve. His lack of regret or even remorse. It is shocking.

"I can't believe you, Rand! How dare you? Let me go!" I yell, not giving a shit about drawing attention. The dormitory was quiet but I can tell by the lights still turned on in several rooms that people were not asleep.

I can't believe I came here to surprise him. I forgave him for forgetting my birthday without even getting an apology from him. I came here to check on him to make sure he was doing okay, and this is what I get. My heart is in a million pieces.

"Listen to me, Sylvia. I am sorry, okay? If that is what you want to hear. I am sorry. Morgana is not important to me. You are. You are fated to be mine." Rand is close to me and I feel nauseated at his prideful choice of words. I can't believe this was something I used to find hot and now he repulses me.

I grit my teeth and try to free myself of his strong grip, but he wouldn't let go and a sliver of something dark and cold glints in his eyes up close, I hate it but fear creeps in. I had been foolish. Falling for this unrecognisable man and spinning tall fantasies about our lives together as his Luna.

"I am having a rethink of that at the moment." I snap, glaring at him with all the force I can muster, despite my eyes being filled with tears. Despite the fact that somehow, I was still in love with him. Hopeless. I am hopeless.

"I know you are not." Rand hisses under his breath, cocky and sure.

"I am." I bite back at him. I really hate that he wouldn't let me go, his fingers are digging painfully into my elbow and it hurts, keeping me trapped. We are alone out here on the porch of the bungalow styled dormitory he shared with some final years, I doubt anyone would come out if I start screaming.

"I was doing you a favour, Sylvia. You should be grateful." Rand says with a dark sneer undercutting his tone that says more than words can convey.

"A favour? You have lost your mind. I am about to start screaming if you don't let me go in the next second, Rand." He must see the fear in my eyes and there is a sick glee in his icy cold blue eyes. Why did I never notice this side of him?

"Yes, Sylvia. You are quite innocent and frigid, to be honest. So I have my fun with Morgana, and you get to keep your dignity intact till I take you to be mine in front of our families. And then I can fuck that innocence out of you." Rand says, his voice low and cold. I blush deeply at his vulgar words, angry at his insult. Rand stares satisfactorily at my shocked face.

It is true that our courtship so far has been innocent, but that wasn't because I was frigid or whatever he was insinuating. Or maybe it was? I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to sex. The image of Morgana with his cock in her mouth comes to me and I feel repulsion ripple through me. And heartache. So he is saying this was my fault?

"You won't get to do that because I am telling this to our families. I wouldn't want to waste my potential as a Luna for an Alpha that didn't know what loyalty meant." I recovered from my shock to bite back at him, his face leaned down so close our noses were almost touching, I imagine that anybody looking at us from a distance might think we were kissing.

Something darkened his eyes at the threat and his grip on my arm tightened, I let out a gasp.

"Don't even fucking dare." He growls, low and terrifying, his wolf shining through his blue eyes at me. I can't summon mine with the same efficiency as he can so I am a cowering mess at his mercy.

"Let me go, Rand. You are hurting me." I whimper, tears pooling in my eyes again, this time because of pure physical pain.

"You heard the lady, be a gentleman and stop hurting her." A voice intrudes into our standoff from nowhere, I am in too much pain to react immediately but Rand does, letting me go and glowering at a figure behind me. The owner of the voice.

I turn around and I gasp at the dark figure with his back against the wall a few feet away from us, he is shrouded in the shadows and when he moves, stepping into the light, dark eyes searching mine, my heart misses a beat.

It is him.
