LOGINThoros Myr's POV
************************************************************* I wasn't going to interfere. I really wasn't going to. My strategy for being here in Crescent Moon was to stay as invisible as possible, bidding my time till I got the signal I needed. But today is my first day and I already stirred a buzz unintentionally. Apparently, I arrived two weeks late and I am being considered something of a legend because of my name. My clan. My pack. My family. I thought they were kissing and I recognised the blonde haired boy as the Crescent Moon prick I met earlier. But then something made me hesitate and I heard the soft whimper of the girl that alerted me because of how weak and painful it sounded, still I was going to just walk past. I can't be getting involved with Rand this early. It is entirely too soon. It would set my plans back a notch if we crossed paths now. But I couldn't ignore the girl. She was red haired and small in front of the bastard. It was just like him to prey on a weaker person. So, I ignored all the warning signs in my head and did the last thing I wanted. "Fuck off. This is a private matter." The brat growls at me. His wolf form sitting just behind his icy blue eyes, the bastard was threatening a girl with his wolf. Something stirs in my blood at the thought and I shut off the warning voices in my head permanently, I couldn't ignore this. "It didn't seem like that to me." I say, pushing off the wall to take a step towards them, the girl turns fully to me and I stop. Her red hair frames her oval face like a halo of fire and her cheeks are bright red in the warm midnight lighting of the dormitory reception. She is stunning in a disarming manner. It stokes something in my chest to imagine how she could have been in whatever this situation was with Rand. She is staring at me with wide bright green eyes and I have to pull my eyes away from her with considerable effort. I didn't see her during the class introductions. I am sure of it because there was no way I wouldn't remember that face. Fuck. She is stunning. I drag my eyes to Rand behind her, hatred flares in my chest like a furnace being fed fuel. "Fuck off. That is my final warning, Valgerd. This has nothing to do with you." Rand bites at me, baring his teeth. The fucking coward. I take a step forward. The girl in front of me goes pale. It is an absurd thought to have in the moment but I think about how I miss the rosy hue of colour on her cheeks. "Are you okay?" I ask her, ignoring Rand for a second. She is more important. I am doing this for her afterall. She doesn't answer, she just averts her eyes and rubs at her right elbow. I follow her fingers and the angry inflamed colour of a bruise forming on the skin around her elbow makes me feel like I might combust in an instant with how much powerful anger floods through me. "Hey, are you okay?" I reach for her and she stiffens, her skin is unbelievably soft under my fingertips as I brush her arm. Rand is in front of me in an instant, grabbing my hand away from her. She flinches and I almost lose my balance due to the force Rand put into the motion. "Get your hands off her! Valgerd, what the fuck?" Rand glares at me, keeping the girl behind him. I raise my head at him, I let my wolf shine through my eyes for a second, I can't let it out, not yet. I shouldn't even be making it known, I am stepping way out of my meticulous plans for this green eyed girl whose name I didn't even know. "I knew you were a piece of shit, but hurting and intimidating a girl? That is so low, Thor. Embarrassing." I spit out. The night air is still around us, I can feel the eyes of the idiots in their rooms watching us. This must be an interesting show for them. Fuck my efforts to be invisible in this school. Immediately I stepped through the gates, I attracted attention. And it pointed to this confrontation because of our ill crossed history. This was inevitable, but I wouldn't have wanted it to be happening now. It is premature. I am showing my cards too soon. I have spent years planning and I am throwing it all away for this strange girl with fiery hair. "You don't know shit. Fuck off." Rand snaps. I look into his eyes, stare right into his wolf's crystalline eyes, letting him know I wasn't deterred by him. Nor scared. I have spent years studying the Crescent Moon s, the cub of their Alpha heir barely scares me. Rand is a frightened boy under a lot of pressure to prove himself to his father, he is hardly my point of concern. Just a stepping stone to reach my goal. "Hi, should I leave you alone with him? Are you okay? If you are not comfortable being left alone with him, I can offer to take you back to your dorm. I will not leave without being assured of your safety, so just say the word." I say out loud, letting the girl behind Rand's scowling face in front of me know that I am still here. I don't know the situation between them but something refuses to let me just leave. "What the fuck do you mean you need to be assured of her safety? Why wouldn't she be safe with me? She is mine, Valgerd. My fated mate. So, run along now." There is something ugly and possessive in Rand's growl. His fated mate? Fuck. I don't know why my heart seems to drop at the words. What the fuck is happening to me? This is so out of character. "I will come with you, thank you." The girl speaks to me for the first time, walking out of Rand's cover with her head held high, not looking at Rand who is scowling at her with disbelief. Her soft voice floats to me like a song and something dangerous and foreign flares to life in my chest.Thoros Myr's POV************************************************The letter arrived three days later, delivered quietly to Garrick by a scout who had spent the better part of a week working his way through informants along Ashwood's border, exactly the kind of patient, careful work I had learned to value most during six years of planning my Clan's return."You'll want to see this," Garrick said, finding me in the war room going over border patrol schedules with a focus that had become second nature these past weeks. The letter was brief, coded in a manner I recognized from Alpha Thor's own household correspondence, the same careful, deliberate style that had marked every note we had intercepted from his network since this entire ordeal began. The girl's bond is named now. Her guard will be more difficult to breach, but not impossible. The council believes t
Sylvia Fenris' POVWe did go back to the celebration, though something in me had shifted after Rosalind's quiet warning, a low hum of unease threading beneath the warmth of the fire and the music and the laughter still rising from every corner of the camp."You're thinking too hard again," Thoros murmured against my temple, pulling me gently back into the rhythm of the evening."I can't help it." I let him lead me anyway, weaving between clusters of celebrating wolves, some of whom stopped to press congratulations into our hands, well wishes for the newly named mate bond, for the restoration, for a night that felt, despite everything, genuinely worth celebrating. "Every time something good happens lately, I keep waiting for the other blow to land.""That's fair," Thoros admitted. "But Sylvia, if we spend every good night bracing for th
Thoros Myr's POV************************************************The celebration stretched long into the evening, torches lit across the entire Bloodstone camp, food and music and the particular joy of an entire people finally allowed to breathe freely after twenty years of careful, quiet survival. I found myself pulled into conversation after conversation, well wishes from Clan representatives who had traveled from every corner of the dynasty to witness the restoration, and it was well past dark before I finally found a quiet moment to search for Sylvia among the crowd.I found her near the edge of the celebration, sitting with Nina, Edwina, and Maria beside one of the smaller fires, laughing at something Nina had said, her face lit warm and golden in the firelight in a way that made my chest ache with something far too large to name
Sylvia Fenris' POV"Down!" Thoros's hand closed around my arm and yanked me flat against the ridge just as the first arrows whistled overhead, close enough that I felt the wind of one passing inches above my head.Below us, the scouts we had planned to ambush were already shifting, dozens more wolves pouring out from concealment in the trees where they had clearly been waiting the entire time, patient and disciplined in a way that told me exactly how thoroughly we had been outmaneuvered."Fall back to the second line!" Garrick's voice cut through the chaos, and I felt Thoros pulling me upright, both of us scrambling along the ridge toward the rally point we had marked only hours earlier, before any of us understood we were the ones being hunted rather than the hunters. The fighting that followed blurred into something I could barely separate into i
Thoros Myr's POV************************************************The ridge was already alive with movement by the time Rand's riders reached us, torches bobbing along our own lines as Bloodstone and Crescent Moon wolves scrambled into position, the eastern flank sketch the mercenary had drawn spread across a makeshift map table under flickering lantern light."They are pushing harder than we anticipated," Garrick said, tracing the latest scout reports across the map with a grim finger. "If they reach full deployment before we strike, that weakness closes entirely.""Then we do not wait for full deployment." I studied the terrain, the narrow pass the mercenary had marked as Ashwood's blind spot, weighing every risk against the alternative of simply letting that army reach the council chamber unopposed."Garrick, ready our fastest riders. The mome
Sylvia Fenris' POV************************************************The council chamber doors opened, and every conversation in the hall died at once.Rosalind led the returning elders back to their bench, her face composed but tight with the particular strain of someone who had spent the last hour weighing twenty years of buried crimes against the little time we now had left before Ashwood's army arrived.I gripped Nina's hand so hard I heard her wince, though she did not pull away."This council has reached its judgment," the head elder said, his voice carrying grave and final across the silent chamber. "Alpha Thor, formerly of Crescent Moon, stands convicted before this dynasty of orchestrating the deaths of Alpha Weylan, Alpha Cressida, and Alpha Ambrose, of falsely banishing the Bloodstone Clan to conceal those crimes, and of ordering
