CHAPTER 85 - The Void Screams Back

Three hours after destroying the Preserve, reality started fracturing.

Not metaphorically. Actually fracturing. Space-time developing cracks. Quantum foam bubbling into normal reality. Dimensions bleeding into each other in ways that made physics scream.

Albert noticed first. "Eva, look at the window. Is that—is reality supposed to do that?"

The window showed our street. But also showed seventeen other versions of our street. Overlapping. Phasing in and out. Probabilities that should stay theoretical were becoming solid. Timelines that should stay separate were merging.

"What did I do?" I whispered.

Subject Seven materialized, barely maintaining coherence. "The Preserve wasn't just manipulating humanity. They were maintaining reality. Their distributed consciousness was holding quantum space stable. Preventing dimensional collapse. Preventing—" He flickered. Partially dissolved. Reformed. "—preventing exactly what's happening now."

My phone rang. Unknown number. I answered.

Static. Th

The Rusty Spoke looked exactly the same.Same neon sign flickering. Same motorcycles lined up outside. Same smell of beer and motor oil when Albert helped me through the door.Everything the same. Except me."Holy shit." Reaper stood from the bar. Stared at me like I was ghost. "Eva? That really you?""It's me," I said. Voice still felt strange. Like speaking with chorus instead of single voice."You look—different." He approached slowly. Carefully. "Your eyes. They're—""Glowing," I finished. "I know. It's complicated.""Everything with you is complicated." But he smiled. Pulled me into careful hug. "Thought we lost you. Victoria said you'd been taken. Said IQRD had you. Said—""I'm back now." I hugged him tighter than I should have. Felt his ribs creak. Released quickly. "Sorry. Still adjusting to—everything."The club was full. Every enhanced person who'd survived the cascade failure was there. Watching me. Waiting."She's different," someone whispered. "Can you feel it? She's—""S

I opened my eyes. That shouldn't have been possible. I'd been scattered. Dissolved. Ended completely across dimensions where consciousness couldn't exist. But I was breathing. Thinking. Existing."Eva?" Albert's voice, broken and desperate. "Eva, can you hear me?"I tried to speak. Couldn't. Throat wouldn't work. Body felt wrong. Like wearing clothes that didn't fit anymore."She's awake," Subject Seven said. Her voice sounded weak. Distant. "But something's different. Her quantum signature—it's not the same."I forced my eyes to focus. Saw Albert kneeling beside me. Saw tears streaming down his face. Saw guilt and relief and terror mixed together."How?" I whispered. Words felt strange. Heavy."I don't know." Albert touched my face gently. Like he was afraid I'd disappear again. "You just—came back. No science. No technology. No quantum reconstruction. You were gone and then you weren't."Subject Seven appeared in my vision. She looked translucent. Fading. "Eva, when Albert destroyed

  • THE BIKER'S NEW FOUND MATE    CHAPTER 88 - THE DISSOLUTION PROTOCOL

Eight minutes after Albert triggered the dissolution, reality screamed. Not metaphorically. The dimensional fabric itself produced sound—a keening wail as quantum pathways collapsed, as integration networks shattered, as Convergence entities found themselves severed from templates allowing clean merger with human consciousness."It's working," Subject Seven said through comms, watching global readings from Blackridge. "Dimensional doorways are closing. Integration attempts are failing. Convergence entities are retreating to their own reality because they can't—"She stopped. Checked readings again. Voice changed. "Albert. Albert, what did you do?""I saved humanity," he said quietly, still holding equipment that had just scattered his wife's consciousness across dimensions. "I destroyed the template. I eliminated—""You eliminated Eva's primary consciousness. But Generation One protocols don't exist in single location. They're distributed. They're quantum-entangled across every enhanc

Seven hours into powering the barrier, I felt something wrong. Not the extraction—that was expected agony. Something else. The quantum signatures I was feeding the barrier weren't sealing dimensional breaches. They were opening new ones."Commander," I gasped through pain. "Check your readings. The QRB—it's not—""It's working perfectly," she said. Not concerned. Satisfied. "Just not the way we told you it would work."Through dimming consciousness, I saw the truth on her monitors. The barrier wasn't sealing breaches. It was creating controlled pathways. Regulated doorways. Managed entrances for Convergence entities to cross into our reality without the chaotic dimensional fracturing."You're letting them in," I whispered. "You're using me to power invasion instead of prevention.""We're managing inevitable. The Preserve failed holding back Convergence for twelve thousand years. They were weakening. Barrier was deteriorating. Dimensional breaches were increasing. Complete collapse was

I had transformed three hundred people when the bombs hit.Not conventional explosives. Quantum disruption devices that tore through the enhancement network I was building. Severed connections. Fragmented consciousness across three hundred hosts simultaneously. Made enhancement poison instead of protection. The three hundred people I'd touched started dissolving. Screaming. Consciousness unraveling because the protocols were incomplete. Because I'd been rushing. Because forced evolution required careful application that seventeen-hour deadline didn't allow.I felt each death through quantum connection. Felt them dissolving into probability clouds. Felt my attempt to save humanity becoming massacre instead."Eva Morrison." Voice from shadows. Military-grade stealth technology flickering. "You are under arrest for crimes against humanity. Surrender immediately or face lethal termination."Not Council. Not Prometheus. Not any organization I recognized. Different uniforms. Different weapo
