Natalia's POV

I woke up with the worst ache at the back of my head.

My vision was dark for a couple of seconds, and so were my memories.

"Ouch," I groaned as I finally placed my legs down and held my head.

My vision finally cleared as I glared at the wall in front of me like it was the culprit who gave me the ache.

Then like a button was suddenly turned on, I remembered the club.

"Oh my God!" I yelped. My eyes widened as the whole memories from last night started replaying back in my head.

How I had foolishly thrown myself at Wesley—

"Oh no!" As soon as I thought of him, I remembered my request last night and I quickly turned to the side of the bed where he was— but fortunately, I found it empty.

My heart was starting to relax in relief when I spotted something on the bedside table.

Cocking my head to the side, I blinked and stared at it. Then I realized that it was a glass of water and a piece of paper underneath it.

My heart jumped as I wondered what it could be. Did we do something

    ||Wesley's POV||A few days after that horrible exchange with Lila, I still struggled to take the thoughts out of my head.I was stuck in my studio, hoping to clear my mind. The entire place was a mess, yet somehow, the splash of colours seemed just perfect.I hadn’t meant to destroy anything, but somewhere between the silence and the ache, I had knocked over an easel. A smear of deep blue paint bled across the concrete floor like a wound I couldn’t stop reopening.I stared at the half-finished portrait of Lila on the wall, the one I’d started years ago when I thought love was simple. Her eyes had never looked right in the painting— and now that I looked at it, I saw the problem. It was too distant, too unreadable.Maybe I'd always known we were pretending. Maybe I just never wanted to admit it.The truth was, even before she opened up about her sexuality, there was never a spark. It was more like a forced union neither of us wanted to be in.Yet I refused to let go. And now, after

Wesley's POVSilence loomed in the hospital room, creating an unsettling ring in my ears as my father waited for a reply. But I still didn't know what to say to him. How could I tell him that Lila and I had resolved our relationship a long time ago?Plus the resolution was on mutual terms. We both realized that the relationship wasn't working. We were better as friends than anything romantic."Hmm, you know, it was your mother's dream to see you two married someday," My father added, his eyes never leaving mine."We are working on it." I lied. "You don't have to worry."Even Lila turned to look at me with raised eyebrows but I kept a straight face and focused on my father.—The last thing I needed was having to begin explaining everything from scratch. None of us even needed it."Okay," my father suddenly chirped with a large smile on his face. "I'll be expecting feedback soon then. You know, to have a wedding, it isn't so difficult these days..."My ears tuned him out as my own thoug

Wesley's POV I barely slept at all.Natalia's words remained glued to my head like a worm, echoing the same things over and over again.Days had passed ever since I left her apartment, but each time the sun clawed its way into the sky, all I saw was her face from that night. The glazed look in her eyes, the slur of her words and the occasionally smile she flashed— that tore through my heart—What was supposed to remain a perfect image in my mind because a bittersweet moment. Those words she had mentioned were like blades blended with honey. And somehow, every day I had to drink it like my new smoothie.'Why are you his brother?' she had whispered like I had chosen it myself...Like I could change that fact... Well, maybe it could have been changed if my father didn't run ahead to marry his mother, the second mine got sick...Maybe if I had severed all ties with my father things would have been different. I wouldn't have to face this pain right now...The thoughts remained in

  • THE BILLIONAIRE HEIRESS' SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE   CHAPTER 30

Wesley's POV My eyes narrowed at Natalia's request. It was completely unusual. But before I could protest, she got to her feet and stretched her hand to me."Are you coming or not?"Again, I was hesitant. Just a few minutes ago, she looked scared. Almost like she was looking out for something. And now this?"Please don't be a spoilsport Wesley. Come on!" She grabbed my hand herself and wiggled her brows at me."Natalia, are you sure that you don't want to go home and maybe relax for a bit?" I asked, resisting her pull."No, Wesley! It's a celebration. Let's go all out. Besides, it's not everyday we do this..." Something flashed in her eyes but before I could make sense of it, she smiled. And that smile of hers was surely going to be the end of me. The resistance I was putting up, all but vanished the second her bright smile came alive."Okay, fine. You win." I resigned, mirroring her smile. "But if you start dancing on the tables, I will pretend not to know you!"She threw her head b

  • THE BILLIONAIRE HEIRESS' SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE   CHAPTER 29

Natalia’s POVMy eyes remained fixed on the window as the car passed through the beautiful lightings that colored the streets of New York.It was almost like it wasn't night time. The dark sky was just a backdrop behind all the beautiful plays of light.Yet, as beautiful and peaceful as the view was, my mind was drowning in thoughts. And no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't bring myself to relax. My heart was constantly racing as if I was being chased down by a ghost. The ghost of Robert.Everywhere I turned, I kept feeling like someone was watching me... Like someone was spying on me.I tried to tell myself that it was just in my head but it refused to leave. I just couldn't stop thinking about it.That was why when I got the message from Lila, I couldn't refuse. In fact, I didn't even wait to hear the entire detail, as long as it was going to involve me forgetting about my immediate problems, then it was a yes.I could have sincerely said yes to anybody else, as long as I did

  • THE BILLIONAIRE HEIRESS' SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE   CHAPTER 28

Wesley's POVAs Lila left the office, I was left with a frown on my face as I wondered why Haven Crest would send me a message after so many months.I considered ignoring it but somehow the prospect of their call created a ball of curiosity within me that I couldn't deny.Sighing, I took my phone and dialed the specialist number. She picked on the first ring— like she had been waiting for the call."Hi, Mary, I got your message. What's going on?""Wesley, I am so happy you called us back," she began and I could instantly tell that she was very excited about something."Sure, what up?""We actually have a patient. She is a dedicated and hardworking young woman and she is in a very delicate situation—""I am sorry, Mary, but... I don't see what this has to do with me..." I cut in, already growing bored at the explanation."Well, she came to us wanting to have a baby through our donor programs..."Her voice suddenly faded in my mind as my emotions flickered. My heart started racing with

  • THE BILLIONAIRE HEIRESS' SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE   CHAPTER 27

Wesley's POVIt was the perfect afternoon, cool breeze and calming nerves as I flipped through the pile of files on my desk— my mind barely even grazing them.Because my thoughts were with Natalia.Ever since the last conversation we had, I couldn't help the feelings that consumed me.Her question about transferring ownership of her inheritance in a way that she still had some sort of control, was a bit unusual. The only way she could do that was through having a child... An option I had also once considered for myself.Months ago, when my mother's company got stolen from me by Robert, I had also considered transferring whatever I owned to a secure heir. And my lawyer had advised me on getting a child.I had even gone through with dropping samples of my sperm at a certain hospital, Lila suggested but when it came to getting a surrogate, I had cancelled out the thoughts entirely.I couldn't bring myself to make a woman go through the pains of childbirth, just because I could af

  • THE BILLIONAIRE HEIRESS' SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE   CHAPTER 26

Natalia's POVThe next day, I got out of bed early and quickly made an appointment with a fertility specialist. If getting a child was what I needed to stop Robert, then so be it.With determination sizzling in my mind, I quickly got ready and made my way to the hospital. The roads were surprisingly free of traffic, and we were at the clinic in less than fifteen minutes. My eyes went to the sign at the top of the building that read, Haven Crest Clinic and I felt a shiver move down my spine.I was really doing this."Ma'am, would you like me to wait for you?" The Uber driver asked, pulling my thoughts back to him."No, don't worry. I will order another. Thank you," I said with a smile as I alighted from the car. I transferred his fare and walked into the hospital. My heart was racing— not with fear, but with a strange unease that sizzled underneath my veins.I couldn't tell if it was just the gravity of what I was about to do. Or the idea of actually becoming a mother for lega
