~ In my happy era ~

POV: GABRIELLA BROOKS

šŸŽµBig Pluto bitch, like, what the fuck?

šŸŽµSlidin' down Ashby with the brew, you know we deep as fuck

šŸŽµHe want me bad, heard he a duck, can't get no coochie out the queen

šŸŽµPut some Lulu on this butt (That Lululemon)

"Lululemon" I sang along to the song playing from my speakers as I got ready for the beach party. I was already putting on my beach wear which was a body hugging black singlet and matching shorts that stopped just above the thigh. I planned on putting on my beach wear when I got to the beach but Sage was coming with a friend to pick me up so I decided to wear my tankini from home. Why? Because I'd feel more safe wearing something that revealing with her and someone she knows, than in a taxi with a total stranger.

I applied sunscreen all over the exposed part of my body and put it into the little bag i was going to carry along, just incase I needed to reapply. I made use of my vanilla body spray on my pulse points before proceeding to put some lip oil on my lips and did a little twirl in front of my mirror. My skin was glistening and my tattoo which was covered a little bit by the strap of my singlet, glistened even more.

"Who's this diva? It's me duh." I giggled to myself before deciding to pack the remainder of the things I would need into my tote bag.

As i was debating on if I should take my iPad or not, I heard a car horn continuously from downstairs and I ran to the window in the living room to take a look. I saw Sage standing outside by the side of the horning car in the same tankini pattern that I was wearing, the only difference was that her's was in the color pink.

I carried my tote bag, locked my door and joined them outside. The moment the cold air met with my skin, I began to regret wearing my tankini in the first place. Some of my neighbors were outside making discussions and the thought of walking past them with something so short made me die inside with shame.

I wasn't used to wearing something as short as this, as much as I loved how it looked on me, I still haven't been able to feel confident wearing it outside where a lot of eyes would be on me. Maybe my parents were right after all, I shouldn't be wea......

"Hey bitch, you've been standing here the whole time, don't tell me you are having second thoughts." Sage interrupted my thoughts.

When did she get here?

"Of course not" I denied.

"You look too good to be having second thoughts" She smiled and pulled me along with her to the black range rover she had been standing over waiting for me.

I opened the car and got in while Sage followed suit, some pale looking guy was at the driver's seat while a dark skinned girl was at the passenger's seat.

"Briella meet Lyra and Chen" Sage introduced as she pointed at each one when she called their names. The guy sitting at the driver's seat turned to look at me and I was blown away by his visuals, he had all the Asian features i only saw in movies, it was then that the name registered in my head, CHEN, bro was Chinese.

"Nice to meet you" He smiled at me and I found myself smiling back.

"You really look exactly how Sage described you, like a goddess" Lyra complimented and I smiled even grew wider.

Sage's friend group was tea, they all looked like visuals in a Kpop group. Chen was so handsome that it hurt, it made me feel like i was looking at a real idol. And then Lyra, girl was pretty. I thought my skin was glistening but Lyra's skin was looking it's best. She looked like the type of person to spend millions on skincare, her melanin was shining. Her features were the most prominent thing about her, dark brown eyes, high jawline and full lips. Something I could only dream of.

"Thank you" I replied to her. "You look gorgeous"

"Sage you hear that? I look gorgeous" Lyra chuckled and tried to rub it in Sage's face.

"How can you compliment her before me?" Sage looked at me with a death glare and I couldn't understand what the fuss was all about.

"Oh dear...it's a thing they do, the person who get's complimented first looks better" Chen explained to me.

So that's a thing? why is that a thing?

"So what am I serving?" Sage fired at me.

"You are serving face and body goals baby" I said the first thing I could think of and she broke into a smile while Lyra scoffed and turned back to the front.

Chen shook his head, started the car and drove out of the compound, it seemed like he was already used to their antics. It took about twenty minutes before we pulled up at the beach, the party was already in full swing. Some of the boys were shirtless while some had singlets on, majority of the girls were on bikinis while a few baddies decided to wear tankinis just like me. ATL by Bankroll NI was playing and everyone was in full dancing mode.

Chen excused himself to go get changed while the girls and I decided to have a blast on the dance floor.

"And i'm like, I'm so ATL" I sang along to the music and did my hands in a swim like motion.

"I'm so ATL" Lyra and Sage followed suit by doing the next part of the song choreo by moving their hands like they were feeding themselves.

The song changed up and peggy by ceechyna started playing, I was more than beyond shocked hearing the song and Sage mirrored my expression. I knew how much majority of the male population hated that song and I wasn't even wrong because the boys on the dance floor stopped vibing and began talking shit.

I looked over to the DJ stand and saw a blonde chick right there and I couldn't have smiled more, I guess I would be needing more invites to parties like these.

"Chyna, please have mercy, I ain't gettin' paid 'til the end of the week" Sage was the first to start singing along.

"I don't give a fuck, shut the fuck up" I continued bringing in the energy.

"Get on your knees and grease my feet" Lyra sang while pointing to her foot.

"Pussyyyyy" We screamed so loud the boys around gave us the stink eye.

Yeah, exactly the reaction I was going for. It's only funny till a girl does it.

The song switched up again and some music by playboy carti came on, the girls and I decided to get some drinks at the bar side. We got there and sat down waiting for the bartender to bring our drinks while Sage couldn't stop talking about how Iconic we were earlier.

"Did you see their faces? You saw their faces right?" Sage shrieked as she kept bouncing on the bar stool like she couldn't help herself.

"Girl...say no more..that was most satisfying thing I've seen all week" Lyra giggled.

I guess we all had something in common.

"So....I hear you are in your rebellious era." Lyra said suddenly facing me.

Woah...when did the topic change?

I turned to look at Sage knowing very well she was the one who told Lyra, Sage in question avoided my gaze and looked at everywhere but my face.

Funny.

"I call it freedom era, please don't believe everything you hear from Sage" I told her and at the same time, the bartender brought our drinks.

"Oh please.....

"Hey ladies" A voice i knew too well interrupted Sage and I turned around only to see Collins.

Oops! I totally forgot about him.

"Sorry boo, I totally forgot to call you when i arrived, the music was so cool and I didn't know when...

"It's okay dear, I tried calling you but you weren't responding, I was starting to get worried before I saw you spitting lyrics like fire on the dance floor" Collins laughed as he sat on the bar stool next to Lyra.

"Oh...you saw that?" I asked in a low voice and was starting to feel embarrassed, he definitely hadn't seen me like that before.

"It's fine really, I'm really loving this carefree side of you" He assured me.

"Aren't you going to introduce us?" Sage was the one to ask.

"Silly me, y'all meet Collins my cousin, he's a sophomore and he studies engineering here at UCLA"

"Nice to meet you girls, it's really heartwarming seeing B make friends without fear of what someone might say."

"By someone....you mean her mother right?" Lyra said and took a sip of her drink.

Wow! Just how much of my life did Sage tell her?

"I'm so sorry, I was so excited telling them about you that I didn't know when i spilled everything." Sage looked at me with doe eyes as she apologized.

Only God knows how many people she has told already.

"Lyra" A girly voice screamed and we all turned to look. Lyra immediately stood up to hug the girl when she got to us with her entourage. They exchanged pleasantries but I wasn't interested in all that, my eyes was locked on the dude right behind them and I couldn't help but scoff.

What was he doing here?

~ He smiled like sin ~POV: GABRIELLA BROOKS"Thank you" I mouthed as I collected my keys from Jana, Sage's roommate. The first thing I did when I woke up in the hotel room was to hurry to the dormitory and waited till Jana arrived then retrieved my keys. "It's fine" Jana smiled, her braces glistening under the sun. "But where did you sleep though?""An hotel" I told her.Yes, an hotel. The moment i realized things could get messy between Kai and i, I immediately told him to take me to any nearby hotel. I didn't trust myself enough to spend a night at his place because i was already having wild thoughts of letting him kiss me. Kai looked so confused when I abruptly stood up and told him i wanted to leave, and instead of asking me so many questions, he just did as I said."That sucks""Yeah it does, I'll be leaving now" I was on my phone during the whole drive back to the apartment, I paid the taxi driver and stepped out just in time to see Kai walking towards his bike with ju

The sky was already melting into dusk, and every second that passed, I convinced myself a little more that he wasn’t coming. That maybe i made a mistake in calling him, It wasn't too late to start calling Sage so she could talk to Lyra and I could spend the night at her place. Then I heard it.The low growl of an engine, smooth and powerful. But God, the way he said it...my heart skipped so violently it felt like it forgot how to beat.ā€œYou came,ā€ I breathed, not even trying to hide the awe in m

~ They called it love, but it felt more like a leash. ~ POV: GABRIELLA BROOKS"Welcome" I smiled as my parents followed me into the dorm room.It took a hell damn of a time for Sage to request access for my parents to get into the building, she had to lie that they were her relatives because the lady at the front desk had already seen Sage's parents the day she resumed. I was really grateful for the fact that Sage's roommate wasn't around, because according to Sage, the girl was very uptight and strict on morals. There was no way she was going to cover up for me."Is this your side of the room?" My Dad asked pointing to Sage's roommate side of the room. That side of the room looked very composed and put together, decorated with minimal colors, it had posters of the sayings of some great philosophers, the study table next to her bed had multiple textbooks, notebooks and looked very neat. While Sage's side of the room was...oh well...it was neat too but just ver

~Parenting is guidance, not ownership.~ POV: GABRIELLA BROOKS"Arghhhhhhhh" I screamed out loud finally after continuous internal scolding since that night last weekend. Everything that happened at the beach party kept replaying in my mind and messing with my head. It was supposed to be a fun party, just me and my friends dancing and having a good time. But of course, things took a turn when he showed up. Kai. Like what the fuck was he doing there? What happened to playing songs and disturbing the neighborhood with it? And just my luck—he and his friends managed to rope my new friends and I into a truth or dare game.My first ever party did not go as planned and i ended up with the most awkward situation ever. I regretted raising my hand to be a volunteer when it was Kai's turn even before knowing what the dare was. Sage had the nerve to stab me in the back and said what the dare was.....Kai had to do a body shot… off me.I froze for a

~ What's this feeling? ~ POV: KAI ALEXANDER FLYNN I sighed for the umpteenth time as I listened to Rowan talk about some girl he met at a house party two days ago. I thought the beach party would be a nice way for me to pass time but now that I was here, I sincerely believe that I would be better off listening to playboy carti at home.Nothing was interesting to me these days, video games, alcohol, parties, sex, nothing gave me purpose in life anymore. Even attending classes seemed like a favor I had to do for my parents so they wouldn't be disappointed in me. But well, there was a certain hazel eye girl that seemed to intrigue me but she was off limits. She reminded me too much of piper with all that good girl thing she had going on and I'd better stay away. Piper was practically the main reason i was a mess and I'd legit not want a repeat of that, I was better off in my fuck boy era.And what did that girl call me, Hardin what wannabe? I
