Mrs. Harlow stood in the doorway of the guest suite, her silver hair still pulled into that tight bun and her calm, measured voice filling the quiet space. “Miss Bennett, is everything arranged to your liking? The bed has fresh linens, and the desk faces the garden window as requested.”

Brielle set her modest suitcase on the low bench near the foot of the bed. “Yes, Mrs. Harlow. Thank you. The room is very comfortable.”

Clara stepped inside with a folded towel and a small vase of flowers, her soft-spoken manner showing in the careful way she placed each item. “I brought extra towels and these from the garden. The roses are still blooming this late. Mr. Ashford always liked them kept fresh near the east wing.”

Brielle nodded. “That’s thoughtful of you, Clara. The flowers are lovely.”

Tom remained just outside the door, still checking his cuffs twice out of habit, and spoke in his usual polite tone. “If you need the suitcase emptied or anything carried to the closet, miss, I can handle it right away.”

Brielle gave him a small smile. “I can manage the unpacking myself, Tom. But thank you for offering.”

Mrs. Harlow folded her hands. “Master Ethan is resting in the nursery now. He stayed calm after you left the playroom. That has not happened with any other new person in a long while.”

Clara added softly, “He kept looking toward the hallway as if he hoped you might come back. Poor little boy. He has been so quiet for so long.”

Tom shifted his weight. “Mr. Ashford noticed it too. He said it was the first positive response in years.”

Brielle kept her voice even. “I am glad he felt comfortable. Children need time.”

Mrs. Harlow glanced around the suite once more. “Dinner will be served at seven if you wish to join the household. Or a tray can be brought here. Mr. Ashford prefers the evenings quiet.”

“A tray would be fine tonight,” Brielle answered. “I would like to settle in and rest.”

Clara smoothed the edge of the bedspread. “I’ll bring it myself later. Just ring the bell if you need anything before then.”

Tom nodded. “The bathroom has everything stocked. Fresh soap, towels, even a small heater if the evening turns cool.”

Mrs. Harlow gave a final look. “We will leave you to unpack, Miss Bennett. Welcome again to Ashford Estate.”

The three of them stepped out. The door closed with a soft click. The suite fell silent.

Brielle stood alone in the middle of the room. She walked to the tall window and looked out over the estate she once called home. The garden paths stretched below. The nursery wing sat quiet on the far side. She could almost see the small figure of Ethan sleeping there.

She turned back to the suitcase. Her hands moved slowly as she opened it. Beneath the folded clothes lay a small velvet pouch. She lifted it carefully and carried it to the desk by the window.

She loosened the drawstring. Inside sat a faded photograph of herself holding baby Ethan, the infant’s tiny hand resting against her cheek. Next to it rested her original wedding ring, the gold band still bright despite the years. An old family portrait completed the set,Rafe standing tall with his broad shoulders and neat dark hair, her own younger face smiling beside him, and little Ethan balanced between them before everything fell apart.

Tears she had held back all day rose at last. They slipped down her cheeks without sound.

She whispered to the empty room, her voice barely above a breath. “Ethan… my sweet boy. You looked at me today as if some part of you could remember me.”

She touched the photograph of the baby. “I carried you. I celebrated your first word. I watched you take your first steps in that garden right outside this window.”

Her fingers traced the edge of the family portrait. “Rafe… you believed I betrayed you. You took him from me. You let the world think I was gone.”

She wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand. “Three years. I lived under another name. I endured the surgeries that changed my face just enough. I buried Jasmine Ashford so deep that even I almost forgot what I used to look like.”

She lifted the wedding ring and held it to the light. “All of it for one reason. To come back for my son.”

She slipped the ring onto her finger for the first time since the accident. The metal felt cool and familiar against her skin.

She walked back to the window and stared toward the nursery. “You are sleeping in the same room where I once sang you to sleep. I can feel it.”

Her voice grew steadier even as the tears continued. “Mrs. Harlow still runs this house with the same calm order. Clara still speaks softly and notices every small change in Ethan. Tom still stands too straight and checks his cuffs. Nothing has changed in these halls… except me.”

She pressed her palm against the cool glass. “Rafe watched us today. He saw Ethan stay near me. He felt something when he looked into my eyes. He called it odd”

She turned from the window and sat on the edge of the bed, the ring still on her finger. “I am not here to beg for love. I am not here to ask forgiveness. The woman who once loved you with her whole heart is gone.”

She looked at the photograph of baby Ethan again. “You are six years old now. You draw instead of speaking. You suffer nightmares and panic that no child should know. I will stay. I will be the steady presence you need. And when the time is right…”

Her grief hardened into something stronger. She stood and walked once more to the window, her gaze drifting toward the wing of the house where Rafe’s bedroom still lay.

“The world may know me as Brielle Bennett. But I am Jasmine Ashford. The woman my husband believed betrayed him. The mother he took her child away from.”

She closed her fingers around the ring. “And this time, I have not returned to beg for love or forgiveness. I have returned to reclaim my son… and make Rafe Ashford pay for destroying the family we once built together.”

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S BURIED WIFE   Chapter 12 – A Name Recognized

Jasmine remained bent beside Rafe’s desk in the home office, the single sheet of paper still in her hand. Afternoon light fell across the page, making Victor’s signature stand out clearly at the bottom. She straightened slowly and looked closer at the transaction listed above it. The amount was large—millions—and the company name printed beside the figures was one she had never heard Rafe mention in any of their evening talks about Ashford Holdings. She read the name once more, and as she stared at the paper, she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease in the pit of her stomach. The numbers sat neat and official, yet the company itself felt unfamiliar. She had spent so many evenings listening to Rafe talk about the business. Every deal. Every acquisition. But nothing of this.Jasmine turned the page over, checking for any note or explanation. There was none. Only Victor’s polished signature and the heavy total.Rafe’s voice carried from the hallway. “Jaz? Are you done in there?”She

Jasmine walked down the quiet hallway of Ashford Estate toward Rafe’s home office, the soft carpet muffling her steps. Afternoon light came through the tall windows, and the house felt calm the way it often did when Ethan napped upstairs. She carried the small list Rafe had given her that morning, the one with the name of the document he needed for the next board review.Rafe’s voice called from the sitting room as she passed. “Jasmine, did you find it yet?”She paused and turned toward him. Rafe stood near the window, broad shoulders straight under his white shirt, dark hair neat, gray eyes watching her with the familiar mix of warmth and quiet intensity he always carried when he wasn't at the company. “Not yet. I was just heading into your office now. You said it was the summary from last quarter, correct?”Rafe nodded. “Yes. The one with the subsidiary totals. I left it on the left side of the desk, near the blue folder. I need it before the call this evening.”Jasmine smiled, she

Evening settled over Ashford Estate, and the halls grew quiet once more. Brielle waited until the staff had finished their final rounds before she stepped out of the guest suite. She moved carefully, revisiting the places that still held the weight of everything she had lost.Mrs. Harlow passed her near the top of the sweeping staircase, silver hair neat in its tight bun and calm voice low. “Miss Bennett, do you need anything before I retire for the night?”Brielle kept her tone even. “No, thank you, Mrs. Harlow. I am only walking a little. The house is peaceful at this hour.”Mrs. Harlow nodded. “Master Ethan is already asleep. He went down without trouble again. Clara is finishing in the nursery.”Clara appeared a moment later, her soft-spoken manner clear as she closed the nursery door behind her. “He drew one more picture before bed. He left it on the table for you, Miss Bennett. He has never left drawings out for anyone else.”Tom came up the stairs with a small tray, still check

Days passed inside Ashford Estate, and the quiet halls began to feel less heavy. Ethan still spoke little, but he no longer disappeared into long silences the way he once had. He stayed near Brielle through the mornings. He drew at the low table in the playroom. He slept through more nights without the nightmares that used to wake the whole nursery wing.Mrs. Harlow noticed first. She stood in the playroom doorway one afternoon, her silver hair neat in its tight bun and her calm, measured voice carrying a rare note of hope. “Miss Bennett, Master Ethan finished his entire lunch today. He has not done that in months.”Brielle sat across from the boy at the round table, a pencil still in her hand. “He seems more settled when the routine stays steady. We kept the same drawing time after breakfast.”Clara entered with a fresh stack of paper, her soft-spoken manner clear as she set it down. “He asked for the green pencils again. Well… he pointed to them. That is more than we used to get.”T

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S BURIED WIFE   Chapter 8 – Learning Ethan's World

Morning light filled the playroom of Ashford Estate as Brielle sat at the low round table with Ethan. The boy’s soft brown hair fell across his forehead while he moved a green pencil across a fresh sheet of paper. He had not spoken a word since breakfast, yet he stayed close to her side the way he had from the first day.Mrs. Harlow stood near the doorway, her silver hair pulled into its usual tight bun and her calm, measured voice soft. “Miss Bennett, Master Ethan usually draws alone after breakfast. He has never allowed anyone to sit this near for so long.”Brielle kept her tone even and professional. “He seems comfortable with the quiet. I will follow his lead.”Clara entered with a tray of water and sliced fruit, her soft-spoken manner clear in every careful step. “I brought these in case he gets hungry. He often forgets to eat when the drawings take him.”Tom followed a few paces behind, still checking his cuffs out of habit. “The pencils are the ones he likes best. I made sure t

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S BURIED WIFE   Chapter 7 – A Father's Fear

The memories in the guest suite shifted again for Brielle as she sat with the photographs still spread before her. These were the quieter moments of their marriage, the ones that carried both love and the first real weight of Rafe’s fear.Rafe Ashford loved Jasmine with a depth that filled every room they shared. His broad shoulders would ease only when she was near. His gray eyes softened whenever she entered. Yet the same deep love came paired with a poor ability to trust. His fear of betrayal made him overly protective and controlling in ways that grew harder to ignore. One late afternoon Jasmine returned from a short walk in the garden with Ethan in her arms. The baby had fallen asleep against her shoulder. Rafe met her at the side door, his dark hair neat as always, his expression tight.“You were outside longer than I expected,” he said. “I looked for you from the study window twice.”Jasmine, kind and patient, adjusted Ethan’s blanket. “He needed air. The garden is quiet this t
