The memories continued to unfold for Brielle as she sat alone in the quiet guest suite of Ashford Estate. The photographs on the desk pulled her deeper into the past, to the days when the first cracks had begun to show in the life she and Rafe were building.

Celeste Lancaster moved through every Ashford gathering with elegant precision. Her hair was always perfectly arranged, her dresses chosen to catch every eye, and her smile stayed polished even when her words cut deep. She had grown up beside Rafe Ashford. Their families had been close for years through business ties. The media spoke of them as a natural match. Members of the Ashford board often said the same. Everyone expected Celeste to become Mrs. Ashford one day.

Celeste loved Rafe with an obsessive fire that never cooled. After Jasmine became his wife, Celeste refused to accept the loss.

At a private dinner in the Ashford dining room only weeks after the wedding, Celeste sat across from Rafe and Jasmine. Her elegant fingers rested lightly on the stem of her glass as she spoke.

“Rafe, the board is still asking when you plan to settle the succession properly. They prefer stability. A wife from a known family would have made that simpler.”

Rafe’s broad shoulders stayed straight, his gray eyes steady. “I have a wife. Her name is Jasmine. That is the only stability I need.”

Celeste’s smile did not reach her eyes. “Of course. Jasmine is… charming in her own way. But the company has always valued certain traditions.”

Jasmine, kind and intelligent as ever, met Celeste’s gaze without flinching. “I am learning those traditions, Celeste. Rafe and I are building our life together.”

Celeste tilted her head. “Building takes time. Some foundations prove weaker than others.”

Rafe’s voice turned firm. “Enough, Celeste. Jasmine is my wife. The board will accept that.”

Celeste set her glass down with careful grace. “I only speak what many are thinking, Rafe. You know how these things work.”

Victor Ashford sat at the head of the table that night, the polished image of a respected businessman. As Chairman of Ashford Holdings, he carried himself with calm authority. His suits were always perfect. His words stayed measured.

Victor watched Jasmine closely. He had noticed how Rafe trusted her. Rafe spoke of confidential business matters in her presence. That made her dangerous. He only wanted what was best for his dear nephew.

After the dinner, Victor found Celeste alone in the sitting room. His voice stayed smooth. “You see the problem, Celeste. Rafe listens to her.”

Celeste’s elegant posture never slipped. “Rafe was meant to marry me. Everyone knew it. The board still expects it. The family still expects it.”

Victor nodded slowly. “Jasmine is an outsider. Outsiders ask the wrong questions. I cannot risk Rafe destroying everything because of some childish infantuation”

Celeste’s eyes sharpened. “Then we remove the threat. Quietly. I will not lose him to a girl from the gutters.”

Victor’s polished tone held a warning. “Be careful. Rafe loves her deeply. Push too hard and he will protect her.”

Celeste’s voice stayed low and certain. “I have loved him longer than she has known him. I will not step aside.”

Meanwhile Vanessa Sinclair struggled in her small apartment across the city. Jasmine had always treated her more like a sister than a cousin. They had shared secrets and small joys for years. But Vanessa secretly envied the life Jasmine now lived. The grand estate. The devoted husband. The ease that money brought. Vanessa’s own days were filled with mounting gambling debts that she could no longer hide.

One afternoon Celeste arrived at Vanessa’s door, elegant as always, her presence filling the modest space.

“Vanessa,” Celeste said with a smooth smile. “I believe we can help each other.”

Vanessa’s hands twisted together. “I don’t know what you mean, Miss Lancaster.”

Celeste stepped inside without waiting for an invitation. “You owe money. A great deal of money. The kind that does not go away on its own. I can make those debts disappear.”

Vanessa’s voice trembled. “Why would you do that?”

Celeste’s eyes stayed fixed on her. “Because your cousin stands where I should stand. She has Rafe. She has the Ashford name. She has the life that was meant to be mine. I want her gone from his side. You are close to her. She trusts you.”

Vanessa looked away. “Jasmine has always been good to me. She treats me like a sister.”

Celeste’s tone remained calm and precise. “And yet she lives in that estate while you hide from the people you owe. I am offering you a generous sum. Enough to clear every debt and leave you comfortable. All you need to do is help create distance between Jasmine and Rafe. Small things at first. Words in the right ears. Moments that make him question her.”

Vanessa’s shoulders slumped. “I don’t want to hurt her.”

Celeste stepped closer. “Then watch your debts grow until there is nothing left. Or take the offer and free yourself. Rafe was always meant to marry me. The family expects it. The board expects it. Jasmine is the only obstacle.”

Vanessa was silent for a long moment. The weight of the unpaid debts pressed hard. The envy she had buried rose higher.

Finally she spoke, her voice quiet and defeated. “What exactly do you need me to do?”

Celeste’s elegant smile returned. “We start simply. You will visit the estate. You will share certain concerns with Rafe when the moment is right. You will plant small doubts. I will handle the rest. Victor already understands the need. He sees Jasmine as a threat to everything he has protected.”

Vanessa nodded slowly. “And the money?”

“It will be in your account by morning,” Celeste answered. “Enough to erase every debt. In return, you help me take back what should have been mine.”

Victor met with Celeste again the following evening in his private study at Ashford Holdings. His polished manner never slipped. “Has the cousin agreed?”

Celeste stood by the window, every movement graceful. “She has. Her gambling debts made the choice easy. She will begin soon.”

Victor’s voice stayed measured. “Good. Jasmine must not remain close to Rafe. He trusts her too much.”

Celeste turned to him. “I will have Rafe back. The board will be satisfied. The family will be satisfied. And you will keep your secrets.”

Victor gave a slow nod. “Then the pieces are in place. Jasmine Sinclair Ashford will not stay in that house forever.”

Celeste’s obsessive love for Rafe burned steady in her eyes. “She never should have been there at all. I will take my place. And Vanessa will help me clear the path.”

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S BURIED WIFE   Chapter 12 – A Name Recognized

Jasmine remained bent beside Rafe’s desk in the home office, the single sheet of paper still in her hand. Afternoon light fell across the page, making Victor’s signature stand out clearly at the bottom. She straightened slowly and looked closer at the transaction listed above it. The amount was large—millions—and the company name printed beside the figures was one she had never heard Rafe mention in any of their evening talks about Ashford Holdings. She read the name once more, and as she stared at the paper, she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease in the pit of her stomach. The numbers sat neat and official, yet the company itself felt unfamiliar. She had spent so many evenings listening to Rafe talk about the business. Every deal. Every acquisition. But nothing of this.Jasmine turned the page over, checking for any note or explanation. There was none. Only Victor’s polished signature and the heavy total.Rafe’s voice carried from the hallway. “Jaz? Are you done in there?”She

Jasmine walked down the quiet hallway of Ashford Estate toward Rafe’s home office, the soft carpet muffling her steps. Afternoon light came through the tall windows, and the house felt calm the way it often did when Ethan napped upstairs. She carried the small list Rafe had given her that morning, the one with the name of the document he needed for the next board review.Rafe’s voice called from the sitting room as she passed. “Jasmine, did you find it yet?”She paused and turned toward him. Rafe stood near the window, broad shoulders straight under his white shirt, dark hair neat, gray eyes watching her with the familiar mix of warmth and quiet intensity he always carried when he wasn't at the company. “Not yet. I was just heading into your office now. You said it was the summary from last quarter, correct?”Rafe nodded. “Yes. The one with the subsidiary totals. I left it on the left side of the desk, near the blue folder. I need it before the call this evening.”Jasmine smiled, she

Evening settled over Ashford Estate, and the halls grew quiet once more. Brielle waited until the staff had finished their final rounds before she stepped out of the guest suite. She moved carefully, revisiting the places that still held the weight of everything she had lost.Mrs. Harlow passed her near the top of the sweeping staircase, silver hair neat in its tight bun and calm voice low. “Miss Bennett, do you need anything before I retire for the night?”Brielle kept her tone even. “No, thank you, Mrs. Harlow. I am only walking a little. The house is peaceful at this hour.”Mrs. Harlow nodded. “Master Ethan is already asleep. He went down without trouble again. Clara is finishing in the nursery.”Clara appeared a moment later, her soft-spoken manner clear as she closed the nursery door behind her. “He drew one more picture before bed. He left it on the table for you, Miss Bennett. He has never left drawings out for anyone else.”Tom came up the stairs with a small tray, still check

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S BURIED WIFE   Chapter 9 – The House Begins to Change

Days passed inside Ashford Estate, and the quiet halls began to feel less heavy. Ethan still spoke little, but he no longer disappeared into long silences the way he once had. He stayed near Brielle through the mornings. He drew at the low table in the playroom. He slept through more nights without the nightmares that used to wake the whole nursery wing.Mrs. Harlow noticed first. She stood in the playroom doorway one afternoon, her silver hair neat in its tight bun and her calm, measured voice carrying a rare note of hope. “Miss Bennett, Master Ethan finished his entire lunch today. He has not done that in months.”Brielle sat across from the boy at the round table, a pencil still in her hand. “He seems more settled when the routine stays steady. We kept the same drawing time after breakfast.”Clara entered with a fresh stack of paper, her soft-spoken manner clear as she set it down. “He asked for the green pencils again. Well… he pointed to them. That is more than we used to get.”T

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S BURIED WIFE   Chapter 8 – Learning Ethan's World

Morning light filled the playroom of Ashford Estate as Brielle sat at the low round table with Ethan. The boy’s soft brown hair fell across his forehead while he moved a green pencil across a fresh sheet of paper. He had not spoken a word since breakfast, yet he stayed close to her side the way he had from the first day.Mrs. Harlow stood near the doorway, her silver hair pulled into its usual tight bun and her calm, measured voice soft. “Miss Bennett, Master Ethan usually draws alone after breakfast. He has never allowed anyone to sit this near for so long.”Brielle kept her tone even and professional. “He seems comfortable with the quiet. I will follow his lead.”Clara entered with a tray of water and sliced fruit, her soft-spoken manner clear in every careful step. “I brought these in case he gets hungry. He often forgets to eat when the drawings take him.”Tom followed a few paces behind, still checking his cuffs out of habit. “The pencils are the ones he likes best. I made sure t

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S BURIED WIFE   Chapter 7 – A Father's Fear

The memories in the guest suite shifted again for Brielle as she sat with the photographs still spread before her. These were the quieter moments of their marriage, the ones that carried both love and the first real weight of Rafe’s fear.Rafe Ashford loved Jasmine with a depth that filled every room they shared. His broad shoulders would ease only when she was near. His gray eyes softened whenever she entered. Yet the same deep love came paired with a poor ability to trust. His fear of betrayal made him overly protective and controlling in ways that grew harder to ignore. One late afternoon Jasmine returned from a short walk in the garden with Ethan in her arms. The baby had fallen asleep against her shoulder. Rafe met her at the side door, his dark hair neat as always, his expression tight.“You were outside longer than I expected,” he said. “I looked for you from the study window twice.”Jasmine, kind and patient, adjusted Ethan’s blanket. “He needed air. The garden is quiet this t
