Sofie's pains: I'm sorry Sofie, we lost her."

The BILLIONAIRE'S CONTRACT WIFE.

EPISODE ONE.

"I'm afraid I have some difficult news to share with you.'' The Doctor began. They were standing right outside her mother's ward in the hospital.

''Your mother's condition has deteriorated and she needs an urgent chemotherapy surgery as soon as possible. I'm afraid that without it, her chances of recovery are very slim and she may not have much time.''

Sofie's heart sank as the words washed over her. "C...can you please start the treatment Doctor, please I'm begging you, I don't want to lose my mother, I can't lose her." She cried.

The Doctor shook his head. "I'm afraid the insurance doesn't cover that and you already have a lot to pay for the medication we've been giving her. I'm so sorry Sofie, but we can't start the treatment until you balance up."

Sofie bit her bottom lip, she knew they were already in huge debts since the Doctor has been kind enough to have been given her mother some medications without them paying for it.

"H..how much will her surgery cost?'' She asked trying hard not to cry and a part of her was so scared to hear the amount.

The Doctor sighed deeply, he does pity her, but this is a hospital and not a charity home, due to their condition, he's been treating her mother while Sofia promised to balance up, but she's been unable to meet up. This time it's surgery they're talking about and he won't be able to do that without her paying for it.

"Her surgery is going to cost 1.5 million dollars." He replied and Sofie's eyes widen in shock.

"1...1.5 million dollars?" She stuttered, and blinked her eyes, as a tear dropped. The Doctor nodded in reply.

"But I don't have much money, I don't even have anyone to help me, how am I to get that kind of money?''

"I'm really sorry Sofie, but we can't operate on your mother if you don't pay for the surgery and she needs that surgery urgently or else we may lose her." The Doctor said before leaving.

"Or else we may lose her." The words kept on ringing in Sofie's ears and she slowly dropped to her knees.

Her whole life has been filled with nothing but pain and misery, her dad passed away a year ago, leaving her with the responsibility of paying the huge debts he was owing before he passed away. She had to work two part-time jobs to pay off their debt and other expenses, but the money she earns is not even enough and they're still in so much debt.

"Why me all the time! This is too much on me!" She cried loudly as she stared at the ceiling with tears in her eyes.

She cried her eyes out until she managed to calm herself down, she stood up, wiped her tears, and went into her mother's ward.

Her mother was still unconscious. She slowly walked to her and took her hand, ever since her father passed away, the only person she had left was her mother and no one else, her mother was literally a strong pillar in her life and while she was still fine, she did her best to also assist with the expenses until she fell sick and all the responsibility dumped on her shoulders.

She can't afford to let her mother die, she doesn't think she's going to be able to live without her mother.

"I promise to find a way, Mom, I won't let anything happen, I'm going to find a way to raise the money, so please hang in there for me." She said in tears. "Please don't leave me, Mom, I have no one else but you, so for my sake, please keep fighting. I'll find a way, I promise." She placed a kiss on her mother's forehead before leaving.

When Sofie went outside the hospital, she thought of what to do next and the only thing that came to her mind was to ask her boss to lend her the money, but she knows her boss too well, she doubt she's going to agree, but she's still going to give it a shot, her mother's life is on the line here and she's going to do anything to get the money.

Sofie rushed over to her workplace and went straight to her boss's office. She knocked on the door and had to wait a while before she was ushered in.

When her boss saw her, she frowned. "What are you doing here Sofie? You haven't been to work for days now." She said in annoyance. "So why are you here now?"

"I'm really sorry Ma'am, but my mother is sick and she's at the hospital, I've been the one taking care of her, I did take permission, Ma'am." Sofie replied gently.

"I know you did take permission and I gave you a few days off, but you've taken more than the days I gave you."

"Please try—"

"Forget it." Her boss cut her off. "Just tell me why you're here."

This is where Sofie find it difficult to talk, she bowed down her head and toyed with her fingers.

"I don't have all day Sofie." Her boss snapped. "If you have nothing to say then leave, I'm quite busy."

"Err...Ma'am, please I really need a favor from you. My mom needs urgent surgery and if I don't raise the money then I'm going to lose her. Please Ma'am, can you lend me the money and I promise to pay it back." She pleaded.

"How much are we talking about here?" Her boss asked and Sofie's hope went up since she believed her boss was going to lend her the money.

"It's err...It's 1.5 million."

To Sofie's utmost surprise, her boss burst into laughter.

"Hold on Sofie, so you really think that I am going to lend you such an amount of money." She scoffed. "Look Sofia, you came to the wrong place to seek for help, look at you who haven't even done anything worthy of my help and you expect me to help you. How foolish of you!" She spat.

Her boss stood up and walked to her, she looked her up and down, then she smiled.

"I'm sure you do know how beautiful you are, a beauty like you doesn't even need to struggle too hard to get what she wants."

"W...What do you mean Ma'am? What are you talking about?"

"Oh don't be so naive now. With a banging body like yours, you should be able to get even more than that amount in one night, use what you have to get what you want Sofie." She smirked.

"What?" Sofie muttered in shock. "H...how can you even say such a thing to me. I will never do that! I'm never going to lose my dignity and self-respect in such a way." She blurted.

Her boss scoffed, then she went back to her sit.

"Fine then, keep running around looking for who to lend you such an amount. I doubt you're even going to see who's going to help you with such an amount." She taunted. "Anyways, I already provided you with a solution, it's up to you, you either do what you have to do or watch your mother die."

"I'm done talking, get out of my office and I never want to see you here again."

"Y..you're firing me?" Sofie questioned in shock. "But I didn't do anything wrong."

"Missing so many days is something wrong. Now get out or I'll have the security come throw your filthy self out of here."

"Please, this is all I have, this job means everything to me." Sofie cried.

"If it means so much to you, then you won't be there taking care of someone who is obviously going to die anyways."

Her Boss said and Sofie looked at her shocked at how cruel she could be.

Sofie tried pleading with her but it all fell on deaf ears and in the end, her boss had to send in the security to throw her out.

They roughly dragged her away and when they got out, they pushed her away. Sofie fell to the floor, hurting her knee in the process.

People passing by gave her weird looks, but none offered to help her. She slowly got to her feet, she had hot tears were streaming down her cheeks.

She doesn't know who else to meet now or where to go look for the money. Her boss's words rang in her ears, but she instantly waved it off, she's never going to do such a thing, she'll never use her body just to get money, even her mother will never forgive her.

On her way back to the hospital, she couldn't stop crying and thinking of how to raise the money for her mother's surgery, she wasn't even focused on where she was headed.

She was so deep in thought that she didn't even realize that a car was coming her way until she heard the loud car horn and people screaming.

She sharply turned around to see a car approaching her at full speed.

She instantly closed her eyes and screamed loudly as she await her doom, but the man was quick to step on the break and that was how he avoided hitting her.

When nothing happened, Sofie instantly opened her eyes, she stared at the car in front of her in shock and she was breathing heavily holding her chest with her hand.

"Oh God, oh my God." She kept on muttering, he whole body trembling with fear, she couldn't believe that she almost lost her life.

A man in a black tux stepped out of the car, his face red with anger. He walked to Sofie and roughly grabbed her arm.

"What the hell is wrong with you!?" He thundered. "Are you blind!? Can't you watch where you're going!" He raged.

"I...I'm really sorry Sir, I wasn't focused on where I was going." Sofie pleaded, she winced in pain and tried freeing her arm from the man's grip.

"Now that's one thing with you poor people, you all are just so stupid! You all are nothing but freaking gold diggers!" He cursed. "I see what you're trying to do here, I've come across your kind countless of times, you're going to run in front of a car and pretend to be hurt, just so you could ask for money isn't it!" He spat.

His words made Sofie furious, she yelled and forcefully jerked her arm off.

"How dare you speak to me like that!" She said with gritted teeth.

The man scoffed. "Says the trash who dared to cause an accident."

"Don't call me that! You have no right to call me names, I already apologized for what I did, there's no need for you to make a scene and call me names!" She warned in annoyance.

"Oh shut up!" The man scoffed. "You poor people are nothing but leeches, you know nothing than to engage in fraudulent activities, and you." He points a finger at her. "You're nothing but a piece of worthless trash!"

Sofie couldn't take it any longer, she lost her cool and slapped him hard across the face.

"You're the one who's nothing but a worthless piece of trash, you have no humanity in you. Insulting commoners due to our status, well you know what, you're the one who's poor in your mentality and your way of reasoning." She said in anger. "You lack manners and you need to learn them. You better learn to not look down on people, not everyone is bad, rather it's you rich people who need to be taught a lesson."

She eyed him before leaving.

The man stood still, staring at her in shock. No one has ever spoken to him in such a way or dared to raise their hand to him, she really has no idea who he is.

His blood was boiling with so much rage and hate at the moment.

"You better pray we never cross paths again or else I'm going to make you pay dearly for what you've done today. I promise you that." He got into his car and drove off.

When Sofie returned to the hospital, she met the doctor coming out of her mother's ward and she rushed to him.

"Doctor, what's wrong? Is anything the matter? How's my mom?" She asked in one breath.

The Doctor said nothing, he only looked at her, sadness written all over his face.

Seeing the look on his face, Sofie knew something was wrong, her heart started racing and she began to panic.

"W..what's wrong Doctor? Please talk to me, is my mother okay? What's going on?" She cried bitterly.

The Doctor shook his head. "I'm really sorry Sofie, we lost her."

"I'm sorry Sofie, we lost her." Those words echoed in her ears.

"No, no, no that can't be, my mother will never leave me. My mother will never leave me, you're lying!" She screamed.

"Sofia please—"

"No!" She yelled. "She'll never...." She trailed as she began to feel dizzy, her head started spinning and she collapsed.

The Doctor's eyes widen in shock and he panicked.

"Sofie!!"
