Zac sat up slightly, meeting her gaze. “What difference would that make, babe?”

“I don’t know,” she said truthfully. “But if he won’t see you… maybe he’ll see me. At least give me a chance to hear him out. Scream at me. Slam the door. Whatever he needs to do. I deserve that.”

Zac’s jaw tensed. He really looked at her—and said nothing. The room was quiet, but his thoughts were too loud.

“I’ll go with you,” he said quickly. “If you’re going to him, then I’m coming too.”

“No, Zac.” Mia shook her head gently. “I need to do this alone.”

“I’ll wait outside, if I have to,” Zac pressed, voice low. “But I’m not letting you walk in there by yourself.”

“Why? You think he’s going to hurt me?”

“Not exactly,” Zac said in a calm tone. “But heartbreak makes people reckless. And Angelo… I’ve known him for nearly two decades. That man’s been breaking since the day we got involved.”

She looked away. The guilt, still fresh.

“You’re right,” she whispered.

Zac’s hand reached for hers again. She looked up,

The following evening, the penthouse was warm with the scent of rosemary and onions. Mia stood at the kitchen island, pulling out plates and garnishes while the last pot simmered gently on the stove. She had sent the kitchen staff home early, leaving behind just enough prepped ingredients for her. This dinner felt personal, and she wanted to finish it herself.Samantha strolled in, barefoot, holding a glass of wine. She leaned against the counter with a grin.“Sam, you could’ve just relaxed. You really didn’t have to come here to help me,” Mia said, arranging plates on the marble surface.Samantha scoffed. “You think I’m here to help? Oh please. I came to get the full gist.”Mia smirked. “About what?”“You know what I’m talking about,” Samantha said, circling the kitchen like a cat. “You, Zac, Angelo. The whole situation. I still can’t believe you all made up.”Mia laughed under her breath. “I just think it’s what’s best for everyone. Things have settled. We’re friends again.”“Oh wo

Angelo padded down the stairs, dressed in a loose T-shirt and sweatpants, his hair slightly mussed from bedroom activities.Mia stood outside, still calling his phone until the door opened in her face. Angelo stood before her, arms crossed.“Hi, Angelo,” Mia said quickly, nerves prickling under her skin.He didn’t answer at first.“What are you doing here?” he asked flatly, voice cold—but there was a hint of reluctant warmth beneath it.“Can I come in?” She offered a small smile, one that hoped more than it expected. He sighed, glancing away, then stepped aside. “Yeah.”She entered. Moved like a guest in a home she once knew. She turned to sit, but he remained standing, arms still folded.“Aren’t you going to sit?” she asked. He shook his head. “Don’t worry about me. Just say whatever you came to say.”Mia took a deep breath, then stood straighter, choosing her words carefully. “Angelo… I’m really sorry. I know I’ve said it a thousand times, and I know it still won’t be enough.”“I’m

  • THE BILLIONAIRE’S MYSTIQUE BRIDE   CHAPTER 146: I Just Want Her Back

Seth stepped out from his study the moment he was informed he had a visitor. He wasn’t expecting anyone—not tonight. The last thing he expected was to find Angelo seated in his living room, still as a statue, head bowed slightly, fingers laced.Seth’s steps slowed.Angelo barely came here.Maybe once or twice with Zac, years ago—but alone? Never. Any business their families shared had always been handled at the office, behind polished desks and glass walls. Not in his sanctuary.Seth composed himself and strode forward, casually buttoning his cuff as he said, “What do I owe this… pleasant surprise, son?”But Angelo didn’t respond. He was breathing hard. Shoulders tight. Chest rising with every inhale like something was clawing through his ribs. He was practically fuming. Whatever he had seen—whatever had broken him—it was still fresh, still bleeding.Seth’s eyes narrowed. He didn’t ask again. He walked straight to the wine cabinet, pulled out two glasses and a bottle of the vintage he

  • THE BILLIONAIRE’S MYSTIQUE BRIDE   CHAPTER 145: Shouldn’t Have Opened That Door

Angelo had been planning this moment all day.Mia had almost everything—a dream coming alive in her flower shop, more glow in her smile lately—but she still had no car of her own. And he wanted to change that. He wanted to give her something grand, something meaningful and permanent. So that afternoon, he left the luxury dealership with a thrill humming in his chest. The keys to a sleek, charcoal coupe sat in his pocket, wrapped in a red ribbon. As he glanced back at the car one last time, he smiled. It felt right. Tonight would be the night. It was the season of surprises, after all. Before heading to the condo, he tried calling Mia, but she didn’t answer.Slightly puzzled, he stopped by Mia’s flower shop first. Samantha was there, arranging something by the register. She told him Mia had left early to get some rest. That was reasonable. Then he called Zac—just to confirm. Still no answer. He decided to head over. Maybe they were both home. Maybe he’d surprise them with his perfect s

The next morning unfolded in the blink of an eye. Zac had left early for work, placing a soft kiss on Mia’s forehead before slipping out.Later that morning, Mia headed to her new flower shop. The finishes were already completed, but today wasn’t just about observations. It was about settling in—putting things in order, and finishing the final arrangements in her own way.Samantha was there, too. She sat in the back with her laptop open, half-lost in a maze of digital threads—her investigation with Fred still pressing on her mind.“I’ll be leaving early,” Mia told her gently, taking off her apron.Samantha glanced up, tucking her pen behind her ear. “No worries. I’ll be here for a while. Gotta run some searches. I’ll close up by 6 p.m.”Mia smiled, grateful. She didn’t say it aloud, but her mind was already elsewhere—planning.***Not long after Mia left, Angelo’s car pulled up outside the flower shop. The bell above the door jingled softly as he stepped inside, his sunglasses still p
