Mira had vanished.

She was gone, just like that.

Leah stood frozen in the doorway of the infirmary, staring at the bed where Mira had lain peacefully a few hours before.

“No!” She screeched. “This doesn't make sense, She was here a few hours ago. Right there.” She pointed to the now-empty bed.

Alex’s voice was low, laced with fury. “She couldn't have made it out on her own. She couldn't have.”

“Yes.” Leah supported. “She was barely able to sit up, how could she have escaped all by herself?

“Someone had to have helped her.”

The weight of his words hit her like a whiplash. Taken.

“Victoria.” She sneered. “It just had to be her, I know it. She must’ve figured it all out and….”

“Leah.” Alex cut her off with a calmness that startled her. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. Our one priority right now is finding Mira and for all we know there could be someone else pulling the strings.”

“So let's find out who.” She snapped.
