"Look at them," I said softly. "They're thriving. They're happy."

Sam sighed. "I know. I just worry."

"That's your job as godmother." I squeezed her hand. "But we're safe here. I promise."

After Sam left, I sat on the floor with the twins during their evening playtime, marveling at their determination to master walking. They were so different already—Austin bold and fearless, Alex thoughtful and precise. Both with Michael's striking blue-gray eyes, a fact that both comforted and haunted me.

"Who wants a story before bedtime?" I asked as the evening wound down.

"Book!" Austin declared, his limited vocabulary always including his favorite things.

I gathered them onto my lap in the rocking chair, their warm weight settling against me. As I read about a bunny saying goodnight to the moon, I thought about Sam's news.

Michael was still searching. Part of me—a small, secret part—was touched by his persistence. Did he miss me? Or was it Walton pride, unable to accept that someone had escaped

  • THE BILLIONAIRE SECRET TWIN HEIR    BOOK 3 - Chapter 9: The Morning After

The sunlight streaming through my hotel room window feels like an accusation. I roll over, burying my face in the pillow, but I can't escape the memory of last night. Alex's hand on mine during that private toast. The way his voice dropped when he said my name. And then Austin, sweeping me onto the dance floor like we'd done it a thousand times before. My phone buzzes against the nightstand. Three missed calls from Nora."Isabella, where are you?" Her voice crackles through the speaker when I finally answer. "I've been knocking on your door for ten minutes.""Sorry, I was..." What? Reliving every moment of last night? Analyzing the way both twins looked at me? "I'll be right there."I throw on yesterday's clothes and pad down the hall to Nora's room. She's already dressed, coffee in hand, laptop open on the small table by the window."Well?" She doesn't look up from her screen. "How did it go?"I sink into the chair across from her, suddenly exhausted. "It was... complicated.""Compli

The music shifted to something with a stronger beat, and Austin adjusted our dance accordingly, his movements confident and sure. Other couples pressed closer around us, the gallery transformed into an elegant ballroom under the soft lighting."You're full of surprises," I said, impressed despite myself by his skill."I'm the twin who actually paid attention during those ballroom lessons," he replied with a grin. "Alex spent most of the time arguing with the instructor about the practical applications of the foxtrot."I laughed, and the sound felt good, natural. "I can picture that.""He's not wrong, you know. Dancing doesn't serve a strategic purpose in most business situations." Austin's expression grew more serious. "But not everything worthwhile has to be strategic.""Like what?""Like this." He gestured to the space between us, to the way we moved together, to the easy conversation flowing between us. "Like getting to know someone without an agenda. Like finding out what makes th

"The one we're about to dance to." His smile was boyish, infectious, completely different from Alex's intense magnetism. "Come on, the night's too beautiful to waste standing around talking business."Alex stepped forward, his expression darkening. "Austin, we were in the middle of—""A conversation that can wait," Austin interrupted smoothly, already guiding me toward the center of the gallery where other couples had begun to sway to the soft jazz filtering through the sound system. "Isabella's been working all evening. She deserves to enjoy her success."I let him lead me away, hyperaware of Alex's burning gaze following us across the room. The kiss was still fresh on my lips, my skin still tingling from his touch, but Austin's presence offered a different kind of comfort. Where Alex was fire and intensity, Austin was warmth and safety."You looked like you needed rescuing," he murmured as we reached the impromptu dance floor, his arms coming around me with easy familiarity."Did I?

Alex's hand remained steady against my back as he guided me through the crowd, his touch burning through the thin fabric of my dress. We moved past clusters of guests, their conversations a blur of praise and speculation, until we reached a quieter corner near the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city."Here," he said, signaling a waiter who appeared instantly with champagne. "Away from the noise."I accepted the glass, hyperaware of how his fingers brushed mine during the exchange. The city lights twinkled below us, but I could barely focus on anything except the magnetic pull of the man beside me."To taking risks," Alex said, raising his glass. His dark eyes held mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. "And to the woman bold enough to make them pay off.""To the gallery," I countered, trying to keep things professional even as my pulse hammered against my throat."No." His voice was firm, commanding. "To you, Isabella. Tonight proved something I already suspected.

As we found seats in a quiet corner of the lobby, I couldn't shake the feeling that this conversation was going to be about much more than security protocols. And I was beginning to understand that in the world of the Walton twins, nothing was ever as simple as it seemed.---Three hours later, I stood in front of my hotel room mirror, smoothing down the black cocktail dress I'd chosen for tonight's preview. The conversation with Leo had been uncomfortable, filled with questions about my background that felt more like an interrogation than standard security protocol. Austin's presence had made it worse, turning what should have been routine into a territorial display.I'd had to cancel dinner with both twins, claiming I needed time to prepare for the evening. The disappointment in their voices had been unmistakable, and I still felt the weight of it settling in my chest. My phone buzzed. A text from Nora: *Break a leg tonight. Remember, you earned this.*I took a deep breath, grabbing

  • THE BILLIONAIRE SECRET TWIN HEIR    BOOK 3 - Chapter 4: First Impressions

~ Isabella POV ~The coffee shop three blocks from my hotel had become my temporary office, my sanctuary in a city that still felt foreign despite my best efforts to claim it. I'd been there since seven that morning, my laptop open to emails from artists, vendors, and critics, but my mind kept drifting back to yesterday's meeting at the gallery.Specifically, to the way Alex Walton had looked at me like I was a puzzle he wanted to solve. And the way Austin had smiled when he called me gifted."You're doing it again," Nora said, sliding into the seat across from me with her own coffee. She'd been staying at my hotel, claiming she didn't trust me alone in the big city, but I knew she was worried about more than just my navigation skills."Doing what?""That thing where you replay conversations in your head until you've analyzed every word to death." She stirred sugar into her cup with more force than necessary. "It's not healthy, Bella.""I'm just trying to understand the dynamic," I sa
