Cassien slumped heavily into the leather couch in Zayn’s office, exhaling deeply. He threw his head back against the cushions, let out a long sigh, then turned his eyes toward his Zayn with mock irritation.

“Now I regret joining you in this business,” he muttered, his tone dramatic as though he wanted to be pitied. “I can’t even spend quality time with my wife and twins anymore. Do you know how many evenings I’ve missed?.”

Across the room, Zayn stood at the wide glass window, his back turned to Cassien. His hands were clasped behind him, his shoulders square, his stance calm but heavy with authority. The city lights stretched before him, but his mind was far beyond the glowing towers.

“It’s never too late to turn back,” Zayn replied in a quiet, even voice.

Cassien let out a humorless laugh. “Turn back? As if I could do that. You’ve inherited half the wealth of this country, Zayn. You’re sitting at the head of the most powerful syndicate in this nation. And here I am, your loya

After Zaylien was done cleaning himself up and ordering for a new uniform, he headed straight to class. The red paint that had ruined his morning was gone, but the memory of it wasn’t. His jaw was tight as he walked down the hallway, ignoring the glances from students who whispered behind their hands. He pushed open the classroom door. The soft murmurs turned into a ripple of whispers. Some students stifled their laughter; others looked away quickly, afraid to meet his gaze. Zaylien didn’t say a word. He walked to his seat and sat down. The twins, Arden and Carden, were already there. They exchanged a look before turning their eyes toward him. “Don’t give me that look, Carden,” Zaylien muttered as he let out a small sigh. “I am not that pitiful.” Carden hesitated, then leaned back in his chair. “I didn’t say anything.” “You didn’t have to,” Zaylien replied flatly. He opened his notebook, but his pen tapped against the desk instead of writing. As if on cue, the teacher ente

The hallway was loud that morning, filled with the endless chatter of students swapping books and trading rumors. Posters for the annual competition were plastered on the walls, taped to lockers, and even stuck on doors that led to the gym. Two students will represent our school this year at the International Challenge! the bold letters declared. Beneath the slogan, a shiny photo showed last year’s winners holding their golden medals, smiles stretched wide, the whole world watching. Zaylien walked beside the twins, Arden and Carden, their steps in sync as they made their way toward the locker room. Arden’s voice was bubbling with excitement, almost too eager to contain. “Can you imagine it?” Arden said, pushing his hair out of his face as he held onto the strap of his backpack. “Two people from our school, standing on that stage, competing against the best. This is huge.” “More than huge,” Carden added, always the one to hype things up even further. “If you’re chosen, you don’t jus

Zaylien came down from the car, his bag hanging loosely over his shoulder, and walked straight inside the mansion. The familiar scent of freshly cooked food drifted through the hallway, and his stomach rumbled despite the fact that he had eaten earlier at Aunt Selene’s house. He followed the aroma instinctively, his footsteps light as he made his way to the dining room. As he entered, he wasn’t surprised to find his parents already seated. The long dining table was neatly set, as his Papa, Lucien, sat with his straight posture, his expression calm but unreadable. His Dad, Zayn, wore a softer smile. “Good evening, Papa. Good evening, Dad,” Zaylien greeted, leaning down to kiss both of them before pulling out a chair. “How was your first day of school, special?” Zayn asked, his tone gentle, his eyes full of interest. Zaylien shrugged lightly, sliding into his chair. “It went well, I guess.” “You guess?” Zayn raised an eyebrow, his lips curling with amusement. “Well… it was very he

Zaylien’s lips curled in disgust. “And you still haven’t learned manners.” For a moment, their eyes locked, old rivalry sparking between them like fire waiting for air. Derek’s smirk widened. “Manners? Coming from someone who doesn’t even have a proper family?” His voice dripped with mockery. “Tell me, Zaylien, how does it feel? No mother. Just two fathers. You must feel… different.” Zaylien’s jaw tightened. His hand clenched into a fist by his side. He stood slowly, his chair scraping against the floor. “Say that again,” he warned, his voice low and sharp. Derek leaned closer, unafraid. “I said—” But before he could finish, a voice cut through the tension. “What is going on here?” Both boys turned sharply. A teacher stood at the doorway, arms crossed. It wasn’t their own teacher, but one passing by, attracted by the noise. “You two,” the teacher barked. “Why are you still here? Everyone else is at the cafeteria. Do you think the rules don’t apply to you?” Zaylien an

Their whispers were quick and sharp across the classroom.“Who is that?”“He looks so… perfect.”“His hair, his uniform… he must be from money.”Zaylien pretended not to notice. Finally, some familiarity. He walked through the aisle slowly, then pulled out the empty chair beside Arden and sat down.Arden turned, grinning wide. “Late as usual. First day of school and you still couldn’t wake up early?”Zaylien rolled his eyes. “I don’t see how that concerns you.”Carden chuckled from in front of them, not bothering
