Adrian stood in his study the morning after the wedding disaster, staring out the window with cold fury in his eyes. The sun was rising, but the house felt darker than ever. The humiliation from yesterday still burned in his chest. Marcus had dared to stand up in front of everyone and claim Lia as his own. The damage to the Laurent name was severe.

He picked up his phone and made several calls. His voice was low and commanding.

“I want Marcus found,” he said to the head of his private security

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 192- NO TIME TO WASTE

I lowered my phone after ending the call with Aisha.“Start packing up,” I told Emma. “We leave first thing in the morning.”I didn’t wait for anyone to answer. My decision was already made. I turned toward the resort entrance, walking quickly.“Emma, the children are already asleep. Please make sure their things are packed and ready. Don’t wake them unless we have to.”Emma nodded.“Alright.”“Clara, check everything twice. I don’t want us forgetting anything.”“Got it.”I pulled out my phone again and called our driver.“Hello, ma’am.”“We’re leaving early tomorrow morning.”“How early?”“As early as possible. I need to be at Lumina before ten.”“I’ll have the car ready.”“Make sure it is.”I ended the call and immediately called Aisha. She answered before the second ring.“Serena?”“I’ll be at Lumina tomorrow.”There was a short silence.“You’re coming back?”“Yes.”Relief filled her voice.“Thank God.”“Don’t celebrate yet. We have work to do.”“I’m listening.”“I want every docum

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 190- THE CALL I DIDN'T EXPECT

I reached for my phone and answered. “Aisha?” “Serena.” Her voice was serious enough to concentrate on the call. “What happened?” “Nothing is wrong,” she said quickly. I frowned. “Then why are you calling me like this?” “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to worry you, I—” “You did. I told you and Priya to call only if there was trouble.” “I know, and there isn’t any trouble at Lumina.” I let out a breath. “Then tell me, why did you call?” Aisha hesitated for a second before she spoke. “There’s an important client coming tomorrow.” I looked toward the others. “Tomorrow?” “Yes. They contacted the office earlier today, I tried to handle it myself but they specifically asked to meet with you.” “About what?” “A very big deal.” I stood from my seat and walked a few steps away from everyone. “What kind of deal?” “They want to sign a major contract with Lumina.” I stopped walking. “How major?” “We don’t have the final amount yet because there are still a few th

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 191- THE CHOICE

Emma was the first person to notice the change in my expression. “What happened?” she asked. I looked at everyone around me. Adrian, Nathan, Clara, and Emma were all waiting for an answer. I took a breath. “Aisha called me because an important client is coming to Lumina tomorrow.” Clara’s expression changed immediately. “Important how?” “Very important,” I said. “They want to sign a huge contract with Lumina. But they know I’m away, and they don’t want to meet anyone else.” Emma frowned. “So what did they say?” I explained everything Aisha had told me. The client wanted to meet me tomorrow. If I wasn’t there, they were prepared to take the contract somewhere else. Aisha had even told me they mentioned GUCCI and VERSACE as other companies they could sign with. Clara shook her head slowly. “Serena, that is serious.” “I know.” “Do they really mean it?” “They do.” Emma looked at me. “Does that mean you have to return to Lumina?” “I don’t know.” The words came out quietly

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 189- THE CALL THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

I stood there for a few seconds before walking toward Adrian.“Adrian.”He finally turned.“I want you to hear what happened from me.”He said nothing. I stopped in front of him.“That night, Nathan entered my room while I was sleeping. He crossed a line. I woke up before anything went further, and I stopped him.”Adrian’s face hardened.“I told him to leave. He did. Later, he apologized.”“And you forgave him?”“Not immediately.”He looked away.“I haven’t forgotten what happened,” I continued. “I’m still angry with him. I asked him for space, and he agreed.”Adrian was quiet.“I just don’t want you getting angry with—” I stopped it before it came out finish. “Serena I don't understand you.”“Sorry I mean I don't want you fighting with him because of something I already handled.”His eyes returned to mine. “I’m not happy about it.”“I know.”“But I won’t drag it further.”I nodded. “Thank you.”He took a breath. “If he ever does anything like that again, I won’t stay quiet.”“I unde

“What!”Adrian shot to his feet so quickly that his chair scraped against the floor.I immediately stood too. “Adrian, sit down.”His eyes stayed on me while he pointed at nathan. “He went into your room?”“Please,” I said firmly. “Not here.”The children were still at the table. Elias looked between us, confused by Adrian’s reaction.“Mommy, what's happening?”Adrian turned toward him, forcing himself to calm down. “What exactly did you see, son?”Elias swung his little legs under the chair.“I woke up because I wanted water. My bottle wasn’t close to me like they used to, so I went to the kitchen.”My heart tightened.“And then?” Adrian asked. “I saw Uncle Nathan going into Mommy’s room.”Nathan’s face changed. “Elias, it’s okay. You don’t have to talk about it anymore.”Adrian looked at him. “Why not?”Nathan said nothing. Adrian took a step toward him. “Why did you enter Serena’s room at night?”“Adrian,” I warned. He ignored me.“Answer me.”Nathan looked at him. “I made a mista

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 187- THE QUESTION I WASN'T READY FOR

By late afternoon, the beach had become quieter. Most of the guests had moved toward the resort, leaving only a few people near the water. I sat beneath an umbrella, watching the waves while the children played nearby. I heard footsteps behind me. “Serena.” I turned and saw Nathan. He stopped a few steps away. “Can I sit?” I nodded. He took the chair beside mine. “I’m sorry about earlier,” he said. “I shouldn’t have allowed things between Adrian and me to become tense.” “You both were acting like children.” “I know.” I looked at him. “You said you wanted to tell me something before Adrian interrupted you. What was it?” Nathan became quiet. “I didn’t know how to say it.” “Just say it.” He looked at the ocean before turning back to me. “I came because I missed you.” I said nothing. “I know what happened between us changed everything. I know I crossed a line, and I know you asked me for space. I’m not here to ignore that.” “Then why are you here?” “Because I wanted ano

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 3- THE BRIDE BENEATH THE VEIL

The days before the wedding passed like a blur I couldn’t escape. People moved in and out of the house carrying fabrics, jewelry, flowers, and invitations while I stood in the middle of it all feeling completely detached. Measurements were taken and dresses were fitted. Every room was filled with

“There’s a family willing to help us,” my mother explained quickly. “Very powerful. Very wealthy. But they have conditions.”My stomach tightened. “What kind of conditions?” I asked. My sister let out a soft, shaky breath. “They want their son to be married so that they can get a grandchild out of

That night, I sat alone in the vast bedroom that wasn’t mine, wearing a white light robe they had given me after the wedding with no panties under. My hands were clenched so tightly in my lap that my nails left little crescent marks on my palms. I felt nervous. The door opened. He stepped in, jacke

  • THE BRIDE HE NEVER WANTED   Chapter 8- LINES DRAWN

I spent the morning trying to make myself useful. Anything to feel less like a shadow in this house. One of the younger maids was struggling with heavy flower vases in the main hall, so I stepped in to help carry one. Her eyes widened in surprise, but she gave me a small, grateful smile. We were ha
