LOGIN**Freya's POV**
I woke up to warmth, an arm was draped across my waist.
My eyes snapped open.
Gray walls. Heavy curtains. A bed that wasn't mine.
And behind me, pressed against my back, was Dante.
His chest rose and fell slowly. His breath was warm against my neck. His face, what I could see of it when I turned my head slightly, looked younger and less dangerous in sleep.
Then the memories came flooding back.
The drug. The sex. The bite.
My hand flew to my neck.
The mark was still there.
Oh god.
Panic hit me like a wave.
What had I done?
I'd slept with Dante Vaughn. The Alpha's son. The son of the woman everyone thought I killed.
And he'd marked me.
My breathing quickened.
What would he do when he woke up?
Would he regret it?
Would he be angry?
Would he reject me on the spot?
I had to leave. Now.
I carefully lifted his arm off my waist, moving as slowly as possible. He shifted slightly but didn't wake.
Thank god.
I slid out of the bed, my legs shaky. Every muscle in my body ached. I could feel the soreness between my thighs with every step.
My dress was on the floor. Torn and ruined.
I picked it up anyway and pulled it on as best I could, holding the ripped fabric together with one hand.
I found my shoes near the door and took them too.
I took one last look at him.
He was still asleep, one arm stretched out to the empty space where I'd been lying.
Something twisted in my chest.
But I couldn't stay.
I opened the door as quietly as possible and slipped out.
I kept my head down the whole way home, my hair falling forward to hide my face. The mark on my neck felt like it was burning.
By the time I reached my house, the sun was just starting to rise.
Aunt Elsa was standing on the front porch, her face pale and eyes wide with worry.
"Freya!" she gasped, rushing toward me. "Where have you been? I've been calling you all night! Do you know how worried I was?"
"I'm sorry. My phone died. I..."
"What happened to your dress?" She grabbed my shoulders, her eyes scanning me frantically. "Are you hurt? Did someone..."
"No one hurt me," I said quickly. "I'm fine."
"You're not fine. Look at you." Her hands were trembling. "Where were you?"
"I got drunk," I lied. "I wasn't feeling well. I found an empty room and fell asleep."
Her eyes narrowed slightly. She didn't believe me, but she didn't push.
"Come inside. You need to rest."
I nodded and let her lead me into the house.
"Go upstairs," she pointed. "I'll make you some tea."
I climbed the stairs slowly, every step sending a fresh wave of soreness through my body.
When I got to my room, I closed the door and leaned against it.
What have I done?
I forced myself to move. I needed a shower. I needed to wash his scent off my skin before Aunt Elsa noticed.
I went into the bathroom and turned the water on as hot as it would go.
I stepped under the spray and scrubbed my skin until it was raw.
But no matter how hard I scrubbed, I could still feel him.
His hands on my body. His mouth on my neck. The weight of him pressing me into the mattress.
I sank down onto the floor of the shower and pulled my knees to my chest.
The water poured over me, but I couldn't stop shaking.
When I finally got out, I wrapped a towel around myself and stood in front of the mirror.
The mark was impossible to miss.
Two distinct puncture wounds on my shoulder, right below my neck. The skin around it was slightly raised and dark.
A mate mark.
I touched it gently, and a strange warmth spread through my chest.
He marked me.
I didn't know what that meant. Not really.
Would he come looking for me?
Would he reject me the moment he realized what he'd done?
A soft knock at my door made me jump.
"Freya?" Aunt Elsa's voice called. "I brought you some food."
"Just a second!" I called back, panicking.
I couldn't let her see the mark.
I grabbed a robe from the hook on the back of the door and wrapped it tightly around myself, making sure the collar covered my neck.
Then I opened the door.
Aunt Elsa stood there with a tray. Tea. Toast. Fruit.
She smiled gently. "You need to eat something."
"Thanks," I said, taking the tray from her.
She didn't leave, her eyes scanning my face, then dropped lower, to my neck.
The moment she noticed, her face went white, the smile vanishing.
"Freya," she whispered. "What is that?"
"What?" I tried to sound confused, but my voice shook.
"Your neck. Is that.."
The tray slipped from my hands.
It crashed to the floor, tea spilling everywhere, the plate shattering.
Aunt Elsa grabbed my shoulders and pulled the collar of my robe down.
She stared at the mark, then screamed.
"No. No, no, no!" She stumbled backward, her hand over her mouth. "Freya, what did you do?"
"Aunt Elsa..."
"Who did this to you? Who marked you?"
I looked down, my face burning with shame.
"Tell me!" she demanded.
"Dante," I whispered.
She froze.
"Dante Vaughn?"
I nodded.
She sank down onto my bed, her face in her hands.
"Oh, Moon Goddess," she breathed. "What happened?"
I sat down beside her, wrapping my arms around myself.
"I got lost. I went into a room by accident. He was there. He'd been drugged."
She looked up at me, her eyes wide.
"Two women were looking for him," I continued. "They wanted to... use him. While he couldn't think straight."
"So you..." She couldn't finish the sentence.
"I helped him. I thought I was doing the right thing. It was my only chance."
"And he bit you." It wasn't a question.
"I don't think he meant to," I said quickly. "The drug made him lose control."
She stared at me for a long moment, then pulled me into her arms.
"Oh, sweetheart. What are we going to do?"
I didn't have an answer.
We sat there in silence for several minutes.
Then a loud knock echoed through the house.
We both froze.
"Who could that be?" Aunt Elsa whispered.
The knock came again. Louder this time.
She stood up slowly. "Stay here."
"Aunt Elsa..."
"Stay here," she repeated firmly.
She left the room, closing the door behind her.
I sat on the bed, my heart pounding.
I heard voices downstairs. Male voices.
Then footsteps on the stairs.
The door opened.
Aunt Elsa stood there, her face pale.
"They're here for you," she said quietly.
"Who?"
"Messengers from the Alpha's house."
Freya’s POVI noticed the change in Dante’s body language the moment his uncle asked him who he had been spending his nights with. His shoulders stiffened, his jaw tightened, and for a brief second the confidence he’d walked into the room with seemed to slip. My heart skipped a beat. Maybe my instincts had been right all along. And if they were, then who had he been spending those nights with?“Uncle, what are you saying?” Dante forced out a small laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. “Of course I don’t spend my time with anybody. And about those meetings — what I meant is that I do have meetings with myself. Yeah, with myself. Or don’t I deserve to relax a little and think by myself?”“Oh, is that it?” his uncle asked, his expression unreadable.“Yes, Uncle,” Dante said, nodding quickly. “And not everything anybody tells you, you should believe.”“Your wife is not just anybody, Dante.” His uncle’s voice turned firm. “Watch your tongue.”A smile almost escaped my lips. I never imagined
Dante’s POV“Who does Freya think she is,” Amanda murmured against my shoulder, “suspecting you? Questioning you?”“Don’t mind her, my love.” I ran my fingers through her hair, letting the words come easy, the way they always did with her. “She thinks being Luna makes her something to me. It doesn’t. She’s nothing. An object I needed to become Alpha — that’s all she’ll ever be. My heart has never belonged to her. It belongs to you, Amanda. Only you.”She moved closer, and the way she smelled, the way she moved against me — I couldn’t put it into words. Everything about her felt effortless. Kind, sharp, patient, in ways Freya had never managed to be. If anyone had to choose between them, honestly, who wouldn’t choose Amanda? She climbed onto my lap, her fingers trailing slowly from my stomach up toward my neck, and every inch her hand traveled sent something sharp and hungry through me. By the time she reached my throat, she’d already bent down to kiss me.Yes — I was having an affair
Freya’s POVHe left again. He was always busy.Maybe… too busy for me.I remained seated at the dining table long after he had walked away, staring at the half-empty glass in front of me without really seeing it.The room suddenly felt too quiet.Too empty.Too cold.I kept replaying our conversation in my head, searching for something… anything… that could convince me he had been telling the truth.Nothing.Every answer he gave only created another question.I let out a slow breath. It wasn’t that I wanted this marriage. It wasn’t even that I had dreamed of marrying Alpha Dante. But he was my mate.My husband. The first man to ever touch me.The first man to take my innocence.Whether I wanted to admit it or not… he mattered. And somehow, without realizing it, I had started caring about where he went… who he spent his time with… and why he always seemed to have everything except time for me.I closed my eyes. No…Please don’t let me be falling for him. That would only make everything
Freya’s POVThey said life would get easier once you faced your challenges. I never believed that, and I was right not to. If anything, everything had only gotten harder — especially my marriage, if I could even still call it that.I sat there feeling hollowed out while Amanda kept talking, each word landing like something I couldn’t quite let myself absorb.“I don’t know,” she said carefully, watching my face. “But something feels off. That necklace looks fake — like a replica. And I think I’ve seen it on another woman before.”“What?” The word slipped out before I could stop it. I shook my head immediately. “No. Dante would never do that. He wouldn’t lie to me. He wouldn’t give me a replica — and definitely not one another woman had already worn.” I laughed, though it came out shaky. “That’s impossible.”Amanda didn’t push back. She just shrugged. “Alright. I’m only telling you what I saw.”“I understand,” I said, forcing a smile even as my heart started racing. “And I appreciate yo
Freya’s POVThey say life will get easier as you face your challenges, but no… I don’t think so.Life doesn’t get easier. It gets harder. And my love life… I don’t even know what to call it anymore. But I think it is messed up.I sat down looking like a dead skull while Amanda was saying something I couldn’t even take in… something I couldn’t even imagine.“I don’t know, but I feel it is somehow… it is somehow because the necklace looks fake. Like it looks like a replica. And I think I have seen it before on another person’s neck.”“What?” I said immediately.Dante will never do that.Yeah, he will not lie and also give me a replica necklace, not to talk of giving me a necklace that someone has worn before. Never. That is impossible.“Alright, I understand. I am just saying what I know and what I see,” she replied.“I get it, and you are doing it for me and I appreciate it,” I said. Then I continued, forcing calm into my voice.“But maybe you are not seeing it clearly… or maybe it has
Freya’s POVI slept alone again, and I woke up alone again.Nothing changed.Nothing at all.Just like yesterday. But it was different… at least he informed me.He told me where he was going and why.A man that explains is very important.I read that in a book too.And the best of all…He gave me a necklace and a guard to look over me.I went to my shelf and picked up the box of the necklace.I opened it and touched it again while smiling. It is the first time someone who is not my blood has given me a gift.“Ma’am, your bath is ready, ma.”“Alright.”I went to bathe, dressed up, and made sure I didn’t forget the necklace.“Ma’am, the necklace is fine, ma,” my maid noticed.“Thank you. My husband gave it to me,” I said with a small smile.“Ma’am, you are invited to Mrs. Hart’s birthday party.”“Mrs. Hart?” I repeated.“Yes, ma. She is one of the leading women council members. You should go, ma.”“Okay. Prepare a gift.”I have to be on the safer side with people.I need to gain people’
**Freya's POV**The guards didn't even give me time to change. They stood at my door, stone-faced and silent, while Aunt Elsa argued with them in the hallway."She needs time to get ready," she said firmly. "You can't just drag her out of the house like some criminal...""The Alpha's orders, ma'am,
**Dante's POV**I woke up alone. The bed beside me was empty, the sheets still warm but cooling fast. For a second, I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, trying to piece together what had happened. Then it all came rushing back. The ball. The drink. The drug burning through my veins. The room.
**Freya's POV**He was staring at me.But surprisingly it wasn't the way people usually stared with disgust or fear, it was different, indifferent. His gray eyes were locked on mine, and there was something in them I couldn't name. Something that made my stomach twist."Close the door," he finally
**Freya's POV**"What are you doing?" Aunt Freya asked, standing in the doorway with her arms crossed.I didn't look up and continued scrubbing the floors. "Cleaning.""The maids already cleaned this morning.""I know." I kept scrubbing. The repetitive motion helped. It kept my mind quiet. She walk
