SELENE’S ROOM

I collapsed onto the bed, the mattress groaning beneath me as if it, too, were exhausted from the storm that had just passed. My body trembled—not from fear, but from fury. My hands fisted the sheets, knuckles paling under the pressure.

"Damien," I breathed, my voice laced with venom. "You’re really a curse wrapped in a pretty face."

I stared up at the ceiling, trying to blink back the sting in my eyes. The lights above me flickered slightly, as though they sensed my mood. One minute—just one peaceful minute—I had finally let myself hope. I had packed, I had planned, I had believed. I was going to leave.

But of course, he came.

He came like a storm tearing through the last standing shelter in my wrecked life.

"You ruined everything!" I shouted, the words scraping my throat as I grabbed the pillow beside me and flung it against the wall. The impact was a dull thud, unsatisfying. I needed more. I needed to scream unti

Selene’s POVI lay sprawled across the oversized bed like a bored cat trapped in a cage of luxury. My fingers idly tugged at the corner of the velvet duvet as I stared at the flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. A dull romantic comedy played—a genre I never cared for—but it was background noise for the war waging inside my head. The characters on screen laughed and kissed as if life were that simple. I scoffed quietly. My stomach churned with unease, but I ignored it.A knock echoed on the door.I didn’t answer. Didn’t even flinch. Whoever it was could wait. Let them stand there. Let the silence answer for me.But of course, that wasn’t the kind of house I was in. This place didn’t understand boundaries. The door creaked open, and in he came—Ronan.Just the sound of his footsteps crossing the marble floor made my body go rigid. I peeled my gaze off the TV and looked at him, my eyes narrowing instinctively like a lioness sizing up a predator. A sharp pang of annoyance pinched my chest.

Next Morning: Selene's POVThe soft patter of water against the tile faded as I stepped out of the bathroom, a thin fog of steam trailing behind me. My skin still prickled from the warm shower, but the chill of reality quickly replaced the comfort. I wrapped the robe tighter around myself, my bare feet whispering against the cold marble floor as I walked toward the dresser.Today, I wasn’t going to the dining table. There was no way I could sit across from him—Ronan—not after last night. Not after the kiss. The punishment. The humiliation. My stomach churned at the memory, not from hunger but from a cocktail of rage, confusion, and something far more dangerous—something unspoken.A knock sounded on the door, light but firm."Come in," I said quietly, already halfway dressed, my voice barely above a whisper. I hated how soft it came out, how uncertain. The door creaked open, revealing a young maid in uniform, her eyes cast down with the careful submission they all wore like a second sk

Ronan stepped closer, his boots echoing softly against the polished floor like a warning bell."Price," he said, his voice low, almost reverent, as if my name held a weight only he understood. His gaze pierced into me like a blade, dark and unreadable, yet brimming with a promise I didn’t want to decipher."I have a lot on my mind that I want to do to you," he murmured, his words sending a shiver crawling down my spine. "But trust me, damsel, you can't handle any of it."I scoffed, folding my arms defiantly, my eyes never leaving his. Does he think I’m weak? That I’d crumble under whatever twisted punishment he’s dreaming up? I muttered inwardly, the scoff louder in my mind than in the room.He only smiled, like he could read my thoughts. Like my rebellion was entertainment."I'm waiting for my puni—"My words were stolen mid-sentence. In one swift motion, Ronan's hand grabbed the back of my head, pulling me forward with an unrelenting force. His lips crashed into mine.I froze.Shock

The night air was cold, yet my skin burned with fear. My feet were frozen to the ground, unmoving—no, unmovable—as though the earth itself had chained me in place. My mind screamed at me to run, to scream, to do something, but my body ignored it all. Right in front of me stood a wolf. But not just any wolf. Its coat was as black as the void—darker than night, swallowing light whole. The creature’s amber eyes locked onto mine, unblinking, gleaming with something primal… and deadly. It stepped forward. My breath hitched in my throat as I stumbled backward, my instincts clawing at me to escape, but my limbs felt like lead. The crunch of leaves beneath the wolf’s paws echoed like thunder in my ears. Then—another growl. Low. Menacing. From the left, a brown wolf padded into view. From the right, a grey one followed. They flanked the black one like shadows surrounding death itself. Three wolves. Three sets of eyes. One terrified girl. Tears streamed silently down my cheeks. I did

"I'm really expecting to see what you would do tonight, Selene," Ronan said, his voice a calm ripple on the surface of a stormy sea. He stood there, dark eyes locked on mine, the smirk on his lips unreadable—half challenge, half dare. It was like he was watching the first scene of a game he had already played a hundred times, fully confident in his victory. I met his gaze with a sharp edge of my own, refusing to let him see the uncertainty clawing inside me. "How sure am I that you'll actually let me go once I cross the mansion gate?" There was a beat of silence between us. Tense. Heavy. Charged with all the unspoken threats and truths hanging in the air like blades suspended above our heads. "You have my word," he said simply, like it was supposed to mean something. Like those four syllables could erase everything he’d put me through. His tone didn’t waver, didn’t flinch. "I don’t need to prove anything more to you." And just like that, he turned and walked away—cool, unb

I stared at Lena, my thoughts tangled in a whirlwind of confusion and disbelief. Should I be grateful for what I just heard? Should I even feel relief? Her words echoed in my mind like a haunting melody. "Ronan's doing you a favor." A favor? By dragging me into a world soaked in blood and shadows? By making me witness death like it was just another part of the decor? She looked so calm, so at ease. Like death didn't scare her. Like violence was an old friend. And here I was, suffocating beneath the weight of everything I'd seen. "You probably won't understand, Selene," Lena said, her voice cutting through the silence like the sharp edge of a blade. "Because to you, Ronan is a villain. He took you against your will, I get it. But there's more to it than you know. One day, you might see he's doing a big favor for you... one you won’t understand right now." Her words sat heavy on my chest. I wanted to scream, to deny it, to throw her logic right back at her. But before I could even
