Chapter 49: Sacrifice

“Is she at home?” Sam questioned the assigned officers at Adele’s house.

“Yes, sir. After she left the hospital, we followed her here. We can see her apartment lights went off and on sometimes,” one of them answered.

“Monitor her. She is smart, and I am sure she will do something.” Sam instructed.

“Yes, sir.”

“What else did you find from the hospital?”

“Nothing special. The doctor said she had some hormonal problems; she was hallucinating.”

“Fine, dig deep. I have a doubt she is up to something.”

Sam hung up the phone. Sighed, fidgeting with his fingers, he was thinking about something.

“Dad, how can you... what makes you think she would help Decker?”

“Just shut your fucking mouth, Elijah.”

“I felt Decker is alive, and your fiance was trying to protect him.” Sam snarled.

Elijah jerked his body away from the chair, rested his elbows on the charcoal-colored table, and furrowed his brows.

“She shot him in front of me.”
