Sirens paraded the air from everywhere. And the whole building was thrown into panic.

“You'll explain better when you get to the station, low-budget thief,” Ethan smirked in disgust.

“What place has she got here? Take her where she belongs!” Jay shouted at the officer.

“With due respect, sir, allow us to follow due process” the police officer responded.

The police Officer on the other end, standing behind Jay winked at the police officer who just responded. Signalling him not to talk back.

“Was he transferred to your unit recently?” Ethan questioned, looking behind from above his shoulders.

“Ye.. yes.. yes, sir.” The officer responded and swiftly stepped forward to clear the air.

“Let me handle this, Joe, so you don't bag yourself more trouble than yesterday's.”

“Stand back, face the wall, put your palms behind your head.” He commanded Naomi.

She just couldn't understand what was going on. She stood there stunned.

“Can you explain to me what exactly is going on here, officer? At lea

The deadline came crashing in. Tension built its tent around the fashion house such that everyone jumped into a constant panic convoy. The once lively building went hours with a loud stretch of silence, except for the throttling of types of machinery, spinning rickety sound of wheels, and humping blare of weaving and sewing machines as well.Everyone had a role to play, except Natasha who took off with a valid excuse that his baby needed medical care. All hands were on deck, the CEO as well. He was heavily invested in talking to people at the top to hold things down just in case their last and only option did not deliver the work as expected. Naomi had taken it upon herself to lead the whole team. She suggested that the clothing materials were not too abstract from each other, meaning they could be replicated, and a few materials from the original clothing that was handed to the DV House could be picked and stitched to the new materials which they had made. There's barely 15 hours l

Not too bad. Not too great. Far away from Naomi's expectations, Natasha has not really paid attention to bugging her. Just slight jabs and a few hurting words escaping her sling every fifteen minutes or thereabout.Naomi had adjusted to her new role as a babysitter. But the pay did not adjust. It has been pretty hectic that she returns home late at night. The previous night's experience was a life threat. It happened on her way home in the looming dark after she had retired from work, but not for her anonymously known cab driver’s intervention who has been secretly following her; a gang of thieves would have robbed her of everything she had on.Only one thing sparked up her dying joy for the new role–the cute baby’s giggles. He had grown fond of her and would not stop crying until she arrived at work.“Miss Natasha, your attention is needed.” A voice came from a head that peeped into the room.Miss? When will this embarrassment end! When will Ethan add some pride to my name? She thoug

Rumours spread like wildfire, burning wild without gas, that the baby didn't have any of Ethan’s dominant physical features. Not the nose, not even the eyes. In fact, the baby looked exactly like Ethan’s parents. That was a good landing spot to kill the fake news virus that passed a foul smell into the air. Now, anyone caught spreading such propaganda was either fined or sent to a compulsory two months jail time without bail conditions. Sooner than the news spread, it died. Now the mess had been cleared off air. Natasha had been sober for days, refusing to turn up for the maternity reception party that the DV House had organised in high stakes for her. Courtesy of her influential husband-to-be, multi-billionaire Ethan. She had insisted on staying off functions and working with claims to have been heartbroken on taking in the terrible news. The worst was that Ethan was gradually melting for the narrative. Naomi, on the other side of the divide, had been anticipating like she wasn't. D

Naomi got the role of a cleaner at the DV’s Fashion House. Not close to her expectations, but she had found peace unspeakable here.No drama. Just work a good relationship with every staff– against her initial resolution to keep an uptight body language to keep people away from her personal life. Her encounter with Ethan a month after she stepped out of Jay's office lingered in her mind. The wounds of betrayal she carried came fresh the moment she bumped into Ethan’s hard physique. She felt disgusted. And quickly shook her body off his plank surface. That once safe haven became alien. What erupted more anger in her insides was the moment Jay, of all people, demanded of her to apologise to Ethan for messing up his day or lose her few minutes old jobs.“Hi, Tracy.” The receptionist greeted Naomi with a beaming smile.“Hey, sloppy head.” She responded with a weak smile. Looking tired and worked up.“You don't look too great.” She closed the distance between them to inspect Naomi's face

The glaring sun glistened on the surface of the anklet on her left leg, on the visible part of her round legs. Her black skirt, which went a little below her knee, hugged her thigh perfectly, same with the white long-sleeved shirt, leaving her curves vulnerable to the eyes. Her blonde hair sat across her shoulders, glittering at each step she made. The sun greeted her face just before she stepped into the DV's House entrance. As she walked in, her flat heels shoes left no trace of her presence, yet every eye converged to her spot. Her fragrance had made a loud announcement to every nostril, far and near, without saying a word.A few more steps, and she's standing right before the receptionist with a beaming smile that infected the receptionist as well. Before now, she had sworn to remain uptight with every worker in that place to create a barrier that would lead no flesh into the skeleton she had been breeding in her cupboard.“Good morning, Madam.” She beckoned, throwing a harmles
